Quote: RSI don't think I'd be able to live in one of them areas where it's raining one minute then sunny the next, and back n forth. I think Green Bay, WI is that way...at least it was when I visited some years ago. Rain is just bad news bears, let me tell ya.
In the summer its not really back and forth
Its more like once a day, usually early afternoon
When it does rain, it can get torrential but its sunny again in an hour
Personally I need more exercise. A lot more. Really important at my age.
I would imagine all of us need more exercise
Cold weather and I just hibernate
I find that I get out more in the warmer weather.
Bike, golf and kayak

12/15/16: At 7am in Hawaii 🌴, it's now 69 degrees, 😁 and will probably stay in the low 70s most of the day. It gets down to the low 60s between 7p and 7am. We actually have sweaters and jackets on sale here at KMart, WalMart, etc.
I've lived in upstate NY for 5 winters, with -20 degrees and 4-5 ft of snow. I only had a tiny bug, so when I park, my "ice-free" window trick was to get one giant garbage bag to cover the entire windshield & wipers, and just tuck the ends of the bag in the two doors. Worked every time.
But in Hawaii, if you're a recreational swimmer 🏊, you get spoiled. I'll only swim if the temp is over 82 🌤degrees and the wind speed in less than 10mph. Our YMCA pool is "heated", but the 80 degree temp is not the pool temp, but the temp of the water as it leaves its source. So with the windchill over our outdoor pool, the "80" is more like 76-78. Even with a wetsuit, the windchill is uncomfortable; ok, bearable, but far from enjoyable. 😡

I hated the holidays when I lived in Calif. All
the Xmas trees looked stupid, it was a totally
different mood people had than in the snow
states. It felt fake and phony, couldn't wait
for the season to end. I played golf every
Xmas eve so I could pretend it was just
another day.
Shout outs to coilman and kenarman.
I was like holy $#%!$T!#%1 are you kidding me, 25 degrees? Then I realized it was likely in Canadian anti-freedom units. Turns out that's 77 in regular temperature.
also, it's cold AF in Vegas. I've had my heater set to 78 degrees and people tell me that's too high. so i decided to set it to 74, just to see how bad it'd be.....and it's still pretty damn cold inside.
Next time I'll put some clothes on.

The site he is on is pumping water from over a mile away to the HUGE swimming pools they set up near the wells for the frac ing operations. That's over a mile of 12 inch water lines you need to worry about freezing off which it did. Once that happens the whole mile plus ends up frozen and things grind to a halt.... no water no fracing can take place
but things change quickly weather wise in northern Alberta as I look today i see it has warmed up over 70*F in the past two days yes SEVENTY DEGREES warmer than it was just a few days ago

I just got back home (in Iowa) and I can confirm it's balls cold here. 18 below with 40 below windchill last night.
So cold, how can anybody live in places like that? Here in Ohio, Friday night going to be -5, Saturday -11, omg. If you want to go to the casino over the weekend, better just stay there, cars are going to be breaking down one by one.Quote: MidwestAPI just got back home (in Iowa) and I can confirm it's balls cold here. 18 below with 40 below windchill last night.

The surgical gloves are something. Tip to those pulling dragons from the ground up above the Medicine Line, a pair of these under traditional gloves have severely improved my problems with cracking hands. I couldn't fold laundry last year as my hands were complete velcro. As of now I have yet to develop a single crack. The downside is they don't breathe, so it's about 10 seconds before they start to fill with water. It's better this way where air is concerned, but it's almost worse when you have to grab or clench onto something. Like the difference between grabbing a frozen telephone pole vs a frozen flag pole =/
When If we ever get these new rides they've been promising since the Carter admin, I hope to buy one of our old CRV's. A single trip to the junkyard and a hard week in the Good Enough Garage would be the difference between the current torture chamber setup and a chariot worthy of royalty. Plus, between the paint and the badge, I reckon I can scheme a daily that I don't have to register or inspect ;)

Nah, Irma screwed us. The only tropical adventure possibility for '18 is if I peel a few bills out of my tire budget and go kick Bab's door in for a week. That could possibly be the best travelogue yet =)

Hell, I'd hire you to come down here and work on my house for about 2 months if I could get you. That'd pay for some flying, too. But I don't know how.the post office will let you take that much time away.

Are you saying that the people that don't have garages, don't have brakes either?Quote: onenickelmiracleI was so sick during the morning with fever, I thought the furnace gave out. Thermostat said 70, but I couldn't believe it because I was so cold. Now I get to find out how many hundreds the brakes will cost to fix next week. For months I decided not to fix the garage door, not because of cost, but because my sister leaves in her car without even closing the garage door anyways. Now I wish I had because of unnecessary cost for brake repair, no way the brakes would have gone out if the car was stored in the garage. Now I need to have both done, not wanting any more damage to the car.
The car is old, just saying the subzero cold was the straw that broke the camel's back. Maybe it might have happened anyways, once we left the house and parked it. Im not a car guy, everyone else seems to agree outdoor storage speeds up car deterioration, seems like common sense to me.Quote: petroglyphAre you saying that the people that don't have garages, don't have brakes either?
I agree, parking outside contributes to car failure, but, I was having a little fun.Quote: onenickelmiracleThe car is old, just saying the subzero cold was the straw that broke the camel's back. If in AZ, I guarantee that the sun eats windshield wipers pretty fast. My truck has to stay outside, and I have been through 4 complete sets of 10 ply tires in only 60k miles. All due to sun exposure or poorer manufacturing than before outsourcing? My tires blow out the sides, while I still have 70% tread. Two catastrophic blow outs.
I did lose one master cylinder [therefore losing brakes] that I attribute directly to parking in the sun. I even had wheel covers on? IDK. I would testify that it is the sun, that has burned the paint off of the hood and top of cab.
Funny thing, our garage has plenty of room,, but my wife doesn't like to park in it, so her vehicle eats tires also. Women,,, what are ya going to do?
Oh, and it was 81* here yesterday.

I know one poor soul never made more than a grand a month in his life, if that, as a prep cook standing on his feet all day yet he offered to buy me replacement windshield wiper blades and it sure don't rain all that much here in Florida.
why did he buy you wiper blades in the first place, you know what I like, Rain-X. When you have Rain-X applied, you don't even really have to turn your wipers on.Quote: FleaStiffYeah, the sun erodes wiper blades, heater hoses and tires.

We used rain-x on the PDX,tower windows, starting in 1989, stuff was amazing. And you know how much rain Portland gets. Expensive as hell though to cover that square footage.
I think someone finally came up with some airport regs that didn't include rain-x as an approved coating, which could come into play if someone didn't observe something they should have seen. So off it came, sadly
Don't know if it ever got approved.
