Looks like Archie wasn t so lucky after all!
The pit crew at Jerry's Nugget was talking about this Saturday afternoon. I'm surprised it took this long for the conversation to pop up here.
This is the first thread i have started.
I am proud that you have responded.
Glad to have you back!
Quote: TropicalElectriThis is the first thread i have started.!
Huh? According to your profile, you've started 2 other threads (prior to this one).
Of course when you make the decision to cheat, your judgment isn't the best to begin with. (He's been arrested four times prior to this.)

I think those were both mostly introduction and "hey I'm coming into town" threads rather than a discussion thread.
I had no idea that Archie had a history of being a known cheat. It's a little sad as I always just wanted to think the guy was just lucky.
An admirable and quite common sentiment, but not one that is ever found amongst Floor Persons, Pit Bosses or Surveillance-types.Quote: Ahighas I always just wanted to think the guy was just lucky.
Real blonde or Bottle Blonde can be debated, as can airhead or brilliant; but winning is the tip off as far as surveillance types are concerned. They are trained to never believe in luck.
I didnt realize i had started intro theads before.
I was at Southpoint most of the month of June. I would have loved to have seen Ahigh, I recall the issue started with a discussion about Archie.
Any way I love the this site and I have learned so much from all of you.
CNN:
Bruce Koloshi, 54, of Summit, New Jersey, who was known in other casinos as a card marker, was observed by Mohegan Sun Casino surveillance playing at a "Mississippi Stud" table game, Connecticut State Police said in a statement. Upon reviewing the video footage, it was determined that Koloshi was marking cards with an ink-type substance that was made visible through special contact lenses that he was wearing, the statement said. Koloshi's attorney, John Maxwell, declined to comment. Koloshi is expected to appear in court on September 27.

It didn't.
Quote: treetopbuddyArchie Karas is an intriguing character will a huge set of balls.
I'm guessing that a large percentage of this esteemed forum are jealous of Archie Karas......yes?
Quote: BuzzardHey Archie had money in his pocket or on the table. What takes balls is betting $10 on 8ball with $3 in your pocket LOL
Yes, we know he is a degenerate gambler......but his pool and poker skills are/were impressive
Quote: IbeatyouracesProbably a lot easier to mark cards in poker.
I know it's not popular to get behind a guy, in this forum, that was up 40 million, but damn that's impressive..

40 million to this crowd mean nothing.......I rest my case
I feel the same way about folks who do things like exploiting dealers who are showing the hole card and other gray area forms of cheating (Phil Ivy went down a notch in my book with his recent ordeal too).
I say "lock-em-up!" They are making it harder for the casinos to pay those who truly deserve to win from good fortune.
Quote: AhighI respected him before he was caught cheating. I don't respect him anymore. I'm really sad because he was one of my models of how luck could allow you to win if you were lucky enough.

Ahigh.....it's all about the competition. Maybe you never played sports or competed in business.....but gaining an edge is the point. Right? Get off your high horse.
Quote: treetopbuddyMaybe you never played sports or competed in business.
Ahigh has no horse. Thanks for revealing more of your personality though.
It's like the brothers that come to the craps table smelling of dank and buying in for 420 all in 5's, 10's, and singles. Play one or two bets and color. I see them.
"COME ON DICE. UHHHHH. <SNAP>!!!!"
They're fun, but do I respect them? Nope! Do I want to be like them? Nope! Tell a joke or talk like them and have a good time ABSOLUTELY!
MAKE A JOKE ABOUT HOW THEY SMELL LIKE WEED?!?! SURE NO PROBLEM!!!
We are different from one another. That is for sure.
Quote: Ibeatyouraces100% describes craps tables in Detroit.
Alcohol is the sensible drug.........drunks are always in control......pot is a nasty drug.....again what is wrong with you people?
Quote: IbeatyouracesI neither use nor advocate either one of the above.
Very good.....you will be rewarded in heaven
The marijuana comes from dispensaries, and the quality is absolutely amazing, much better than I ever found on the street.
Call it HBO, or wax, or shatter: I like it, I like it a lot.
Heck, it's *almost* addictive.
Quote: MrVI have a written, doctor's prescription that entitles me to possess one and one half pounds of Medical Marijuana.

Damn MrV.....I'll get you some Northern Lights one day.....you'll love it.......It will kill EvenBob to know your happy. He's such a miserable ****
No doubt he'd be overcome with a plethora of Profound Realizations.
Or it could just leave him a drooling paranoid.
*coin toss*

EvenBob would feel so guilty that he smoked pot......that he would turn himself in.......crying

I seen the same thing on the blackjack tables at the Western. And their excuse for having all the money when they got shook down by the cops on the street was they were professional gamblers.
Quote: s2dbakerHow do you smudge ink from a hollowed out chip onto every 10,J,Q and K that passes your way without someone noticing immediately?
Card protectors are very common, would not be considered anything to pay your card protector on a high ranking card (as you shuffle them a little bit in your hands as you look at them)- maybe even bounce the 'protector' on them a little bit. - this is poker world of course, not sure how we would do it on a regular table game if it is one where they get real stingy on whats on the table or touching the cards.

Quote:Industry experts estimate that casinos nationwide lose tens of millions of dollars a year in various cheating scams.
Right. Hahahahaha, I do not believe that "estimate" for a second.
Quote: AcesAndEightsOn a recent Gambling with an Edge podcast, Munchkin expressed some disbelief that Archie went on his amazing run with completely legitimate gambling techniques. It just doesn't all add up...hard to have that run of luck at the craps table, especially if you really start with $50 in your pocket.
A while back there was a different thread that had something about Archie cheating, I can't find the thread, but I was sticking up for him, saying that he just got lucky when he won all that money! Now I would apologize to who ever it was, that said he must have cheated! I have no use for anybody that cheats to win!
Gee, the guys I grew up with had this motto : Win if you can, lose if you must, but always CHEAT !
One of them was William Stephen Belichick . He says the $500,000 the NFL fined him for cheating was just another business expense.
Forget all the crap about a helicopter / spin shot.
Luck happens.
Case closed.

Jesse "The Body" Ventura used to impart that lesson during every WWF broadcast. Now he is a presidential candidate. I'm sure there is some irony somewhere in that but I'm too lazy to look.
