Hi all.
I've been a reader of this site for years and decided to join up.
I'm a fan of any post were the maths and probability of games is the subject.
I thought I knew a bit about them but some of you guys are outstanding

I probably won't be posting much but I need to ask this
Is it just me or does the thread "Casinoboss Answers Your Questions" ring true to you.
I can't think of any reply he has given that shows any insight to the running and mind set of a casino or its management.
The answers are either glib, evasive or of a general nature that anybody could have wrote.
I gave up reading the thread after about the first 15 or so pages
Maybe it's just me but I truly think it's all phony.
I should state it's just my opinion, I don't want to get banned on my first post.

I'm not sure. Perhaps he is boss of the dishwasher in the casino? Who knows. Maybe he is exactly what he claims to be. Everything on this board requires a grain of salt. Some posters require malted grain instead.

I Was thinking the same thing. Personally I think its someone who is already a member under a different name and noticed this is a popular subject and people really hunger for inside information. So much so they really want to believe. However, it seems he has a ongoing reputation from a different message board So that's probably just my tinfoil hat talking. I think I could answer 5 times more of his questions with 10 times more details. Unfortunately I'm a terrible writer. I apologize in advance if I'm wrong because I probably am. It is defiantly a popular thread and has no effect on me other then the time it takes to see what people are asking and he is saying.

IMO, there just isn't all that much to a casino that can't be figured out by observation and extrapolation. A lot of it, the non-gaming side, is established hospitality procedure. On the gaming side, it is establishing the nut and sticking to procedures that ensure exceeding it. That would include establishing a slot and video hold that is neither excessively loose nor excessively tight. The comps part is pretty much doing what works. Dealmaking. Some of it, most of it probably, is mass marketing. A small part of it is whale watching. It's a bunch of guys sitting around thinking up ways to get people in the door. Same as every business, except for instead of Sunday newspaper flyers you get targeted mailings and emails.

Regarding advantage play, my understanding of human nature is that people will keep taking until they find the limit. From the house's perspective, it makes sense to set that limit early and stick to it.

When trying to figure something out, it always helps to think, "What would I do if I were on the other side?" That is usually the answer.

Agree that there has been no insight at all from his answers. Maybe if he were in ops rather than marketing there would be more substance...

Truth is stranger than fiction, meaning a lie will make more sense because it is constructed to make sense, but the truth is the way the person remembers it which often doesn't make sense.

Possibly. All the questions we really want details on, he usually has limited experience with.

Its because he gives hardly any details. His answer
will be yes or no, like he's a witness on the stand
being grilled by the prosecution and he's been told
by his attorney to say as little as possible.

I think it's generally difficult for a marketing exec to answer some of our very specific gaming operations questions. Maybe a better explanation of Casinoboss's area(s) of expertise would have been helpful from the start. Then again, maybe that would have put him one step closer to compromising his identity.

Welcome. CasinoBoss has said he's in marketing. That's barely even part of a Casino and definitely not considered part of gaming.
