How do bounceback and drawings increase the house edge?

Not sure it does. The player receiving the bounceback and drawing entries would have to exercise zero self-control by gambling more than the value of the bounceback and drawing entries. Bringing along some non-AP friends would help. A fun session of dice control and non-progressive slots anyone?

All this talk about increasing the player's edge through entries into contests are meaningless. The only real fringe benefit that means anything is cash. Even bounce back involves a return visit and maybe just a version of free play and is not actual money in the pocket.

If you are going to claim that you have an "edge" at a game then really show us a game with a paytable or a strategy that gives you an "edge." That could be a superior game of video poker, or counting cards at blackjack. But everything else is a wish and a prayer.

I think we are all familiar with a certain video poker author who talks about his "advantage plays" that include drawings for cars and gift cards but doesnt win the promotions and ends up taking a bath on the actual play.

I think "advantage play" except for the BJ card counters is a dream, and even for the card counters there are limited opportunities to win.

Do you really disagree with me on all fronts? Do you disagree with my statement "I think 'advantage play" except for the BJ card counters is a dream" or did you misread it?

I guess the more the information is known (counting, VP) the thinner the edges get. It's hard to keep a good secret in the internet age however....

Interesting...sounds a lot like...

Good call!

Same IP Address for both of them, and coincidentally (or not), Century's first day is the same as the last day SevenOut77 last visited!

They are both nuked for a violation of the multiple accounts Rule.

EDIT: I may not even have checked, had it not been for his reaction. "He doth protest too much!"

Here's a cool example, this just happened an hour and a half ago:

I had an appointment scheduled, but was in town early, so I went to the Island Grille (I think it's called that) which is one of the WV parlors, right by the Suspension Bridge.

Anyway, I stuck a $5.00 in on Super Bonus Keno, planning to lose it or win in multiples of $5.00. I ran it up to 185 credits betting 5 credits ($0.25) per card. I figured I might just make it up to 200, and then, on my next bet (which put it down to 180) I hit Seven out of Ten with the 4x multiplier, 700 Credits, nice! Anyway, that put me to the Bonus Games and I had 900-something after those, I think, 920.

I decided to leave on any multiple of $20 (400 credits), so I upped my bet to 20 Credits ($1.00) and I played up and down for about 100 cards. Technically, I was at 1200 at one point, but I had unlocked the Bonus Games, and by the time they were done, I was below 1200 again. I guess I could have left during the pendency of the Bonus Games, but they are an automatic 2x multiplier on any win, so clearly, that would just be stupid.

I ended up getting slaughtered and was back down to where my next bet had me at 820 Credits, so I'm thinking it's almost over, but then I hit for Seven out of Ten with the 4x multiplier again for 2800 Credits, sweet! That brought me to 3620 Credits, but then I was at 3680 after the Bonus Games.

I was at the point where I needed to leave within fifteen minutes, so to be safe, I upped my bet to 40 Credits ($2.00), and lost both the next cards.

I cashed out at 3600 Credits ($180), so I was ahead $175. I guess you could say $155, because the lady said, "I'm out of twenties, honey, I need to give you two tens."

I replied, "You need to give yourself two tens, have a great day!"

Anyway, I do this for either $5.00 or $10.00, on average, once every two weeks. Let's say that I do nothing but lose, and I go $10.00 (it's usually $5.00, but for the sake of argument) then I'd have to do nothing but lose for the next eight months (casino excluded, considering only parlors) to be back to even. Of course, I was probably a couple hundred ahead for life before that.

So, it's reasonably easy to be ahead for life with a bit of positive Variance. I get my theoretical ass kicked for about 10% of the amount bet every time I play a card, but it can possibly be overcome with a bit of luck. I'd still never go with more than $5 or $10 on any one day in one of the parlors, of course, because I know I'm taking a theoretical (ER) ass kicking every time!
