But when playing at the tables, my favorite drink is a white russian. And the best one I have found is downtown at Binion's. It seems to have the perfect balance of quality and quantity. I have had some white russians at other casinos that tasted very good, but the serving size was significantly smaller.
What is/are your favorite drink(s) when gambling in Vegas, and where do you feel you have been served the best one?
Quote: blount2000But when playing at the tables, my favorite drink is a white russian.
I'm more partial to the black Russian :) I've had two rather good ones at Excalibur and 4 Queens. I expect that drink would be good anwyhere, as vodka is really alcohol and water, and the coffee liqueur will either be Khalua or a reasonable facsimile thereoff.
The problem is that drinking amkes me sleepy and distracted, so I rarely drink while gambling anymore. Last trip I had just the one drink late at night on my last day.
My choice at a casino is a single hot cocoa with a shot of peppermint schnaaps - right before I head to my hotel room for the night.
Last time I was at Mohegan Sun, I guess my timing was off, because I ordered it right before the shift change. It took over an hour to arrive. Sigh, I won a couple hundred bucks while waiting. :)
The greatest thing I ever saw someone order, this was at a poker tournament at Harrah's, was a kid who first asked if they had egg nog coffee drinks and when they didn't (this was in November), asked the waitress for an orange julius. Five minutes later she came back with one, which completely surprised me. And really made me want an orange julius.
give me beer if I'm just sitting off to the side and
not playing. It helps to be an old fart. They know
I'll tip a buck every time, thats what they girls
are there for. Tips.
Welcome to why drinks are always free for me in vegas :)
Me: "Do you have any craft beers available?"
Waitress: "We have bud, bud light, miller, miller lite, coors, coors light..."
Me: <sigh> I'll have a Captain Morgan and Diet Coke.
I like gambling at the Venetian because the Public House and Sin City Brewing Co. are both just a few yards from the Pai Gow tables. The Pai Gow pit crews thought it was very strange that I'd keep turning down free drinks from the cocktail waitress, but I'd leave the table for a few minutes every hour to run and get a beer.
At Paris, the cocktail waitresses bring me Fat Tire draft from Gustav's bar. They all say that they can't do it when I first ask, but when I tell them I've done it before they usually find a way. And I throw a couple extra bucks tip to them.

Never mind, just bring be some warm tap water in a dirty glass.
I'm with Aces though, will make the switch to vodka Red Bulls (or straight Red Bull) as the night drags on.
I've never understood this "Trek to where it is "Vegas, Baby, Vegas!!" but drink as if you are still at home."Quote: JimRockfordNever mind, just bring be some warm tap water in a dirty glass.
You might as well order the most expensive thing they will serve you for free. Its a vacation. Enjoy it.
Don't eat at McDonalds. You can do that at home.
Don't get gin drunk and sleep in the gutter in Vegas, you can do that at home.
Quote: FleaStiffYou might as well order the most expensive thing they will serve you for free..
Makes sense to me. What is the most expensive thing they will serve me at say a green chip blackjack table at MGM Grand? If I ordered a 12 year old single malt what would I get?
Quote: DinDuring the day I drink Newcastle if they have it (MGM properties do) or Fat Tire. Macallan neat at night.
Macallan it is. I never knew I could get that for free.
Quote: JimRockfordIf I ordered a 12 year old single malt what would I get?
Not that. You'd get whatever cheap 'call' Scotch they'd
chosen. There's 'well' booze, the cheap stuff they make
regular drinks with, and the 'call' booze, which is a little
more expensive. You can get 12 year old single malt if
you go to the bar and pay thru the nose for it.
Ask them what the call Scotch is and they might tell you.
Its 'call' because you're calling for it specifically. 'Well'
booze is in the well that the bartender uses the most,
which contains the house booze.
Let me tell you a little secret about CROWN ROYAL....... each day a tanker truck of alcohol would leave gate 10 on Wyandotte and Walker Rd for the Seagram plant located about 15 miles away. Once that alcohol arrived at the Seagrams plant they would unload it and blend up their CROWN ROYAL
Thing is that alcohol came from the HIRAM WALKERS production plant located in Walkerville ( a area of Windsor)...Hiram Walkers home of Canadian Club whiskey. True fact as I handled the paperwork for so many of those loads
Anybody looking for a little side trip while in Windsor might like to take in the tour of the AMAZING HIRAM WALKER main office located about a mile away from Caesars Windsor on the waterfront. If the weather is nice its a nice walk along the waterfront heading east about 15 minute walk. And thats a very safe walking area

As for drinking ...when I was in Vegas last time I hit the Diamond lounge at PARIS.... the rum and cokes served in there were stronger than I would make for myself at home
Lately there have just been various reasons I have declined to drink. Driving is often involved lately, so no drinking on those, but also even when I could drink I havent felt like it. Playing Craps, I'm already having fun!
Ordering beer, and getting the "bud-miller" choices only, in a loud place I have learned to just say "Bud". I do not say "Budweiser" as when the beer comes it will often be Bud Light. Being loud in there, sure enough the person taking the order hears the "I" sound only in the "-weiser" part and thinks you said "Bud Light" which they often are expecting anyway. Hate that!
Although I don't require their service, I will often tip the hard working servers just for asking if I'm okay. Talk about getting the dealer's dander up! :)

If you like Sin City Brew Co., you can get them comped at the Flamingo location. But you'll be stuck playing a Game King with meh video poker or even-money blackjack (both < 98% return).
And I often get Sierra Nevada from Gustav's while somewhat slowly poking 25c at a time on the same meh Game King while I internally laugh at the people going up to the bar and ordering the same thing at $7/each.
Quote: ewjones080While not in Vegas, my favorite gambling drink is Long Island Iced Tea. I don't know if I've ever had a high quality one though. They always seem to be sweet with a quite bitter after taste
i think the long island iced tea has the most bang for the buck popular drink.
5 alcohols.. so you're getting 5 shots
order 2 at a time and it only costs $1 to tip the waitress (or order a double in a big glass)
i only drink when i play slots (mindless) and never drink at table games/VP.
well, these new VP machines that automatically select which cards to hold i might drink.
it's close to mindless...
As a side note: I noticed on Venetian's page they have something where you supposedly can order your drink at the slot machine via the keypad. Anyone try that?

I haven't at the Venetian, but I am accustomed to this via CET in Tunica and Hammond, IN. Since I usually drink beer, I really like it as long as the wait staff is adequate. If you have specific requests though with regard to mixed drinks, it may not be available on the machine. 7&7 is basic enough to be included though. This system is also useful because you can gauge the wait time a bit and order your next drink slightly before finishing your current one. CET really needs to implement this in Vegas as well, imo. Drink service at machines in Vegas generally depresses me. I just play at the bar during busier periods as a result.

I loved the Sin City IPA when I was there for G2E last year, and it might be cheaper to play 25 cents, as you do, to get a good beer; I'm pretty sure I paid about $5.50 plus tip. I can't stand that Las Vegas is the Bud Light capitol of the world and it's so hard to find anything decent. So, if I want to drink when I'm gambling, I normally get a Jack and Coke, but they really go fast.
It started with a angry orchard with a shot of fireball in it...then 5 Diamond Knot IPAs, at last call i had a shot of fireball, chased with a blue moon. GG wallet
Now i stick to budlight drafts seldomly while playing poker. Maybe a blue moon, but only 1 or 2 at most.
