Where in Texas are you? You probably have more options than you think: Kickapoo has a small but playable room. They're Texas's only casino, but they're pretty remote. Most major TX cities have well-known, well-publicized, but illegal "home" games. There are websites you can use to find them - generally, you're looking for a big firehouse or a fraternal organization. Shreveport LA and Winstar in OK are both easily drivable from Dallas. There's a handful of casinos in LA that are high-quality and a couple hours from Houston, too.
