I seem to run out of gambling movies to watch, so I thought we all might work together compiling a list of interesting / watchable gambling related movies.
For starters, in no particular order:
Casino
21
House of Games
Ocean's 11 - 13 (Clooney)
Ocean's 11 (Sinatra)
Shade
The Grand
The Gambler
Bugsy
Croupier
Deal
The Cincinnati Kid
The Cooler
Sydney
Rounders
Lucky You
Du Shen 1 + 2
The Sting 1 + 2

I have seen that one, and I was just trying to
remember the name of it ! A very interesting
study on human nature, and a cautionary
tale (except that it is based on real events).
THANKS...........

selected comments,
The Grand - saw this and don't remember a thing except it was "fair"
The Gambler - sounds like Dostoevsky but probably isnt
Sydney - this movie has been discussed?; it's "Hard 8" or "$2000 Hard 8" ?

@odiousgambit
Yes Sydney and $2000 Hard Eight is the same. The latter must be the DVD title or something.
The Gambler is not Dostojevsky, but a character study none the less. Starring James Caan as a gambling addict / college professor.

Yonkers Joe with Chazz Palminteri. A story of a dice and card cheat with a son who has Downs syndrome. Interesting movie I think they filmed the craps scene at the Plaza in Downtown Vegas.

This is the film for which I remember one scene... the final confrontation with a pimp who wisely backs down even in front of his friends when he realizes just how desperate his opponent is and the injury from the hooker's straight edge which proves just who the tough guy really is.
>Sydney - this movie has been discussed?; it's "Hard 8" or "$2000 Hard 8" ?
Yeah, it was discussed in one of the other threads but its really a character study of Sydney (and the world he represents) versus the impetuous and valueless young punk. Its no surprise the cast were all friends of the director and that Sydney was the writer's preferred title.
Now as to The Croupier,,, anyone ever figure out how the father and the casino ever made any money if the plot was discovered in advance?

Just checked it out on imdb. How could I miss that one in 2005? Even has Ralph Garman of "Hollywood Babble On" fame. Now where to get it...
