How would common casino games be played in "zero-gravity" situations? Could some be played at all?

No spinning the ship/station to induce "artificial gravity."

Obviously, you can forget about roulette and dice.

Most card games would not be a problem. You'd just need some kind of holders for the cards, chip stacks, and bets.

If you're willing to have electronic betting, but real cards, then you can even include some of the California style card craps and roulette games.

I'm iffy on roulette, but I can think of two ways to do dice. You woulnd't roll, though.

On the Moon, craps tables would be very, very, loooooong :)

What if the dice were a lot heavier? Then you could not throw them as far....

Roulette would be played in a structured rotating tube with pockets. Angular momentum conservation will make the ball bounce back and forth, until the ball gives away enough kinetic energy and will stick to a pocket.

I don't see how this part would be fundamental different - except the chip handling of course.

What about sticky pockets for each number in the wheel?

Oh, why does it have to be a wheel?

Anyways, back to BJ. lol. Slight stickiness on the table to hold the cards?

Have table game layout on the all the walls and ceilings and floors. Dice will end up on one of them eventually. : )

Sure... electronically, on your iPad. Theres an app for that.
Some people need to reimagine their thinking.

I'm still not sure the subjects will keep throwing money at the Evil Empire for long...

My idea for craps involves a clear plastic bag, a plastic tube and a hand-held vacuum cleaner.

Magnetism. Nothing else could simulate gravity close enough to make the ball in roulette and the dice in craps act in the same fashion as they do in gravity (with all the hoping and false misses).

Of course we have the technology to simulate gravity now... or are pretty close... with revolving chambers (I know you watched B5), so it wouldn't really be necessary.

It's implied in the title...

BTW, the proper term for "zero-g" "zero gravity" and other nonsense is "weightlessness."

Magnetism on cards would suck for shuffling. Electro-magnetism is such an overwhelmingly powerful force as compared to gravity, that I don't think there is any way to to make it useful. Could you imagine trying to hold together a deck of thin magnets with all of their Norths and Souths attracting and repelling each other?

I say, gambling in weightlessness is best left to a PRNG in a computerized simulation.
Someday, joor goin' to see the name of Googie Gomez in lights and joor goin' to say to joorself, "Was that her?" and then joor goin' to answer to joorself, "That was her!" But you know somethin' mister? I was always her yuss nobody knows it! - Googie Gomez

Magnetic cards ? Who would do that.

I would suggest "wet cards". You can shuffle them easily, and they stick to any surface due to cohesion.

Seriously? You are talking about weightlessness and the first thing you fantasize about is gambling?
