has won the first 3 games yet all they talk about is
NY. After a game, TBS spends 20min on why NY
lost and none on why Detroit won.
Its like watching Tiger Woods on the golf channel.
He can be in 30th place and the on air commentators
have orgasms every time he makes a shot. You'd
think he was the only player there.
Can't help it, when you've won 27 championships, people just tend to be more interested in your team.
Maybe this will be the year the tigers win their FIFTH, and still nobody cares...

Really? Gosh, watching the game in the Tiger's stadium
it sure looked somebody was caring. And why are so
many of the Yankee's fat? Its embarrassing.
probably have people driving in from all over the place,
God knows there aren't many local people with money
who haven't fled Detroit in terror...
3 million attendance, I have to admit is pretty impressive for Detroit

They fled because there are no jobs.

That's part of the reason I tend to avoid American League baseball--the DH allows pitchers to get lardbutts like Sabathia. But Prince Fielder ain't no pixie himself. And Sid Fernandez was a large NL pitcher.
My son plays with some kids who can basically only pitch but can't bend over to field the ball. But there's no DH in Little League.

The Bush years were murder on our economy...

Embarrassing? Hardly. It's TRADITION!Quote: EvenBobAnd why are so

Fat Yankees is why the pinstripes were added to the uniform so many years ago.

Detroit reached its peak in 1950 and has been
in decline since. Was Bush president in 1950?

Apocryphal, I'm afraid.

As for the Tigers... good luck to 'em. That would leave the Lions to be the only team in Detroit not to have TWO finals appearances in the last decade. I only keep a passing eye on the baseball as the season goes on, and watch a few highlights.

Sadly, the Yankees have been only keeping a passing eye on the baseball as well. I hope they can at least try to make a series of it instead of getting swept, but it's not looking good...

They're just sad the Jeter is out for the season. And
the smell of the cinnamon buns for sale in the stands
makes it hard for them to concentrate. They know the
fat farm is coming in the winter.

If the Yankee's win tonight my wife will be very
upset. Tomorrow is an afternoon game and she
has to work.

My husband went to the opening game but has given up hope. I forgot to ask my sister if she was going tonight but she's more into college sports.

The Yankee's don't seem to have their heart in it.
They aren't even really trying, they don't want it
like Detroit does.

And they're old dudes. Ibanez is 40, Jeter pushing it, and I remember when Pettite was petite. Verlander played here in college and he seems to be a good guy. I don't dislike the Tigers, but I'd like to see the series finish out the week at least! Thank goodness for Thursday night football.

I only feel sorry for Ichiro. He moves to go have a chance at the big one, only to find half his team is mailing it in. I don't blame him for moving, but I'd loved for him to have played his MLB career at one club.
run when he has to? Whats he weigh, 275?
Quote: EvenBobWatching game 4. How does the lardass Yankee pitcher
run when he has to? Whats he weigh, 275?
Ironically, I read this as Fielder went waddling after a ball hit to first.

I just read he's 290, but 6' 7". The road grey uniforms are slimming, I guess.
Cabrera and Fielder combined are 130 lbs lighter than the Tigers whole infield in 1984 according to another article.
Quote: FarFromVegasWell, this will either be one of the great comebacks of all time, or it's over.
Put a fork in those Yankees. They are done. Could be a repeat of the 2004 series (I think it was 2004 that the Tigers last made it).
they would fall apart after Jeter got hurt.
not why Detroit won. Its the Tiger Woods syndrome.

Hey Bob, in case you haven't considered this,
The national news media is based in NY.
They secretly or openly don't care about anywhere else.
