not like him to be gone that long. He's no spring
chicken either. He's 71 but looks 71 1/2.

I was wondering about that. Does anyone know anything about him? I don't.

I just meant in terms of being able to get in touch with him. I remember him mentioning living in CO, now. I was just wondering whether or not anyone had his phone number to get in touch with him. Hopefully all is well.

His email address and phone number are in his profile. He might just be out enjoying life, though!

There is life without the internet?!? :-)

Yeah, but it gets expensive!
(Back-to-school shopping included off-to-college shopping as well today. I could use an adult beverage or three about now.)

Why did nobody call, then?
He's an elderly guy. I just called, he's fine, out of town, he'll be back tomorrow.

Because I didn't notice he was gone? And the ones who noticed he was gone didn't check his profile.
He's my dad's and my neighbor's age--a bit younger, actually--and seems to be much livelier than they are. He WAS out enjoying life!

Buzz is elderly at 71? I wonder if he knows that.
Maybe he'll share his aches and pains and elderly
complaints when he returns. I wonder if he uses
a cane or an aluminum walker... Does he worry
about falling and not getting up. Should we get
him one foe those alert buttons for Xmas, maybe.

I was just joking around with the first part, don't be offended. Thanks for letting us know his number can be found there. I really did call, though.
I really wasn't expecting him to have his phone number on his profile, so I didn't bother to look at that.

To late for that. When Buzz beats you to death
with his hickory cane, you'll have nobody to
blame but yourself.

him one of those alert buttons for Xmas, maybe.
Brilliant! Whether he needs it or not...:-)

"Elderly," and, "Senior Citizen," are synonymous to the best of my knowledge, and one becomes a senior citizen at age 65.
I apologize, however, if either of you take offense to the use of the term.
It's amazing the differences in people who attain such an age! I've seen seventy year-olds that seem like they should go strong into their nineties, in fact, I'm laying 3:1 AGAINST my friend's Dad dying before he (the Dad) hits 92. This guy is unstoppable.
I've also seen seventy year olds in such shape that it almost makes me hope I don't make it to sixty!
It sounds like our friend Buzz, fortunately, is in the former category.

Elderly doesn't really apply till your mid 70's.
Senior is at or after retirement age. Anything
before that is late middle age.

My husband works in nursing homes. I wasn't offended by the term--I just didn't really think of him as elderly! I think of late 80's and older who are in the homes as elderly. My grandmother is in her 90's and gets around better than my dad, but her mind is gone, so she's in with the skilled nursing patients. But then again, so is my best friend from high school, and she's my age (48). Really aggressive MS is a bitch.
(just my opinion)
Quote: DocI thought I was just a "geezer."
Yo would be correct. You and Buzz, who both
remember all of the 1950's, are geezers. I only
remember from 1956 on, I am late middle age.
Quote: rxwineDo ya'll miss the silent films or were you glad when the talkies started?
Talkies started 20 years before I was born. Buzz
remembers the Great Depression.
Quote: EvenBobBuzz remembers the Great Depression.
I'd have thought that Rosie the Riveter would have cured all of that by the time that Buzz's ability to form memories was established. But then, Buzz is a special guy:-)
Not to say you can't be 80 something and still going strong. Am I making sense? Anyway, this is something I have noticed in life.
Late 50s for me.
Quote: konceptumI don't plan on living past 50, so I celebrated my mid-life crises at 25. I'm 41 now, 82% of the way there, can I refer to myself as elderly?
Sure
Quote: DocI thought "elderly" was a descriptor applied only to other people and never to yourself, regardless of age.
You can almost always find someone more elderly, unless, you're like the person they refer to in the news as "the oldest living person" that day.
turn is to check in on him this time?

He made a blog post saying he's going to be out for a month or two.

Ah, I was wanting to send EvenBob on a mission.

I never read the blogs. Rarely, anyway. I always
forget they're there.
