Anyway, it'll be a theme park where you and your friends can spend the night being immersed into a giant zombie-ridden "city." I guess you have to hold out for the night and fend off "attacks." You can also join other survivors and whatnot to fend off the hordes of zombies.
I don't know to many of the details, as I just remember hearing this on the radio this morning as a way to bring revenue back to these areas of the city, and loved the idea.
I think there are a lot of liabilities with the plan, so I'm not so sure it'll ever come to fruition, but your post reminded me of this so I thought I'd share.

Never gonna happen. The liability insurance would be staggering.
Plus, its Detroit. Somebody would shoot and kill a couple zombies
the first night it was opened.
Quote: FiziksThere's a new 200-acre project currently in the planning that will end up using some of the abandoned neighborhoods and factories. I can't remember what it's called (maybe Z-World), but if I find it i'll let you guys know. There are some people investing in blocking off a 200-acre section of abandoned factories/neighborhoods and turning it into a real life ("pretend") zombie apocalypse. I just heard about this on the radio this morning.

How does a zombie apocolypse differ from Detroit anyways? Perhaps the will have indoor plumbing.

Yeah, that's my thought on it. I live in Toledo and it would be awesome if this became a reality since it's so close to me, but I think that's going to be what ends up preventing it from happening. Someone is going to get shot, or beaten, killed, whatever. Great idea, but people are stupid.

Seems like a glorified version of urban paint-ball :)
BTW, fi you enjoy that kind of immersive games, I highly recommend reading the first two "Dream Park" books by Larry Niven and Steven Barnes.

But it IS reality. Anybody who lives in Detroit is already dead on the inside...
Sad thing is, I used to really like Detroit. It had a neat culture you really couldn't find anywhere else. Sure it was rough, but that was part of the charm. Now it's just a sad excuse for a ghost town, overblown and underpopulated.

Lets not get carried away. Parts of Detroit are still
vibrant, its far from dead.
On Sunday June 24 we finished up work and were back at the hotel by 1 pm. Crossed into Port Huron at the Blue Water Bridge about 40 minutes later on our way. As we headed their I had to ask why they wanted to see 8 MILE? Because of Eminem songs and stuff was the reply..... so I asked do any of you know what is the significance of 8 Mile Road ? Nobody had a clue..... its the boarder limit of the City of Detroit.
After 45 minutes or so of driving we were a few miles north of 8 mile passing the area around the Detroit Zoo off of 696...still a pretty nice area I guess. As we rolled onto 8 Mile these guys we amazed how things changed.... comments about the burnt down buildings still standing, the barred windows the boarded up buildings with all the other still open stores, offices business still around them. I pointed out that this was a GOOD AREA compared to lots of Detroit and they didnt believe it could be worse....so once we hit the Southfield we headed towards Dearborn into the city....got off around 5 mile MicNicols and crossed that part of the city till we hit the Lodge. Now even to me this was a new expierence as the only parts of Detroit I saw was downtown and passing through on 75 and 94 heading the the suburbs. Cameras clicked non-stop as we crossed a small area of what once was a vibrant city. That day will live in their minds for the rest of their lives....amazed that a city in America could be in that bad of shape.
Not to leave them thinking all of Detroit was like that, we headed down the Lodge into Downtown Detroit, which on that sunny Sunday afternoon was alive, full of life with thousands of people Downtown. The waterfront was packed with people enjoying the sun , fishing, walking along the river looking across at the red Caesars signs a short mile away. I parked at the Motor City Casino parking garage so we could check out a bit of Downtown Detroit. Into the casino we went and the bar beckoned them to sit down for a pop or two...... well since I was there $20 into the poker machine DDB 50 cent was a given....15 minutes or so on the first $20 so I moved over to the machine next to me and placed another $20 into it.... and played one hand getting 3 aces dealt to me .....the forth came out with a three to boot after holding the first three.....a quick grand hit....to which I told the guys I just hit for a grand and they looked at me like yeah right....told them to come take a look. They did and couldnt believe it we had just sat down and our drinks had not even arrived yet....yeah I picked up that bill. I also handed out $20 to each of the four of them to give it a try...no luck for them.
I asked what they wanted for dinner as I was buying now.... we ended up at REDSMOKE BBQ where the food was great and the prices even better...total bill came out to $130 with tip for the five of us to eat....with nobody finishing their meals as the plates were loaded..... if you are in Downtown Detroit and looking for a great place to eat I suggest you look this place over

That trip downtown showed them that Detroit still has a beating heart....with some life still left in it. We ended the afternoon taking the monorail around the downtown core for a cheap fare of 75 cents per rider. Well worth it to see a large part of downtown from above street level
The trip back to Sarnia on 94 showed them how it got that way with a large warehouse fire along side the highway burning away still within the city limits....just another sunny Sunday afternoon in the Motor City
I'll have to try it. Greektown comps are good here.Quote: coilman

Yes, the citizens of Detroit make their own fun wherever they can find it.
You think I'm kidding..

How would anyone tell the difference between the "zombie" theme park and any other neighborhood in Detroit? :)

the Project if there is such a thing and if goes, will be funded with public money (with they don't have).....private money will run as fast as they can from the ZombiesQuote: vendman1How would anyone tell the difference between the "zombie" theme park and any other neighborhood in Detroit? :)

I think I heard 117 years. At that rate, he has shot himself of the corruption ladder past your typical Illinois Governor (4 of IL's last 7 governors have been sentenced to prison terms)
