Inspired by this thread , I wanted to start a thread where WoV members could plan trips together and/or let one another know when they will be at a casino to either have a drink, play, or watch each other's backs. I am not sure this thread will go anywhere but you never know!

Interesting idea. I have discussed meeting for a drink with a couple forum members that are also from the Northeast in the past, if anyone ever wants to play at Turning Stone, Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods I am almost always willing and able.

This isn't set in stone yet (though I do have the room for two nights at Showboat) but next week I'm planning a Monday/Tuesday trip to Atlantic City. I'd like to get some beach time, as well as good Tiles action. Again, no guarantees yet until Friday (when I know my schedule better for next week) but if you'll be in the area, let me know.

Let's not forget the HotBlonde weigh in on October 17 in Vegas. This gives all plenty of time to plan ahead.

As I've mentioned before, if any forum member makes it up to Niagara Falls/Buffalo, let me know. With even minimal notice I can usually make it up to the casino.

I would like to go to Seneca Niagara sometime. I am from near Syracuse but I am out in the Boston area for school/work. I have had bad experiences at Fallsview but would love to check out the scene on the American side. I'll let you know if I'm ever headed out that way. I try to make a Sabres game or two every year if possible.

I'm flying in Thursday, June 7.

Staying at MGM through Sunday, June 10.

Will see Pacquiao fight at MGM on Saturday night; should be a good one.

I'd be willing to keep a post up-to-date with dates, locations, and people. Kind of like your WOVcon ][ list, or Doc's chip of the day first post.

Would it be possible for JB to make this a "Sticky" thread so that it remains at the top of the forum and does not need to be bumped? I think that this is a wonderful idea, bringing people together.

Seneca reminds me more of a Vegas casino- I like the dealers, pit bosses, restaurants, comps. Fallsview seems more sterile, but has the advantage of being non-smoking. PM me if you want to come up.

Stickies only work in the individual forum listings. It does NOT work for the Recent Threads listing that many of us use.

Switch, have you stayed at the Signature Towers before? If so, I would like to know what you thought of them. On my last trip to Vegas, I had reservations for Mandalay Bay, but took an upgrade to THEHotel. I absolutely loved that place and would like to find a place like that. A hotel that is a bit more upscale, and that might not have it's own casino but one in which you could access a casino at a sister property without going outside or too much of a walk. I was wondering if Signature was like this.

Gabes,

Yes, I've stayed about 5 times before - I really like The Signature especially as I stay for long periods. It's nice to have all of the amenities, washer, dryer, kitchen. I also like the pool and gym (if I can get into a routine).

I stay in the 2-room apartment so I have my own separate bedroom along with 2 bathrooms with jet tub and walk-in shower. Wireless Internet is free so that saves cost against other hotel rooms. There's a small, but adequate, balcony so you can enjoy the view or sit in the sun.

Thanks a lot. My wife and I like to stay somewhere different every time we go, and like I mentioned last time we were at THEHotel, our previous trip we were at TI in 2008. We are planning a trip there next spring and the Signature is on our short list. I don't mind springing for a nice hotel room in Vegas as you can get a room for $200 there for what would cost me $600 downtown here in Chicago. I aslo liked the fact that THEHotel was a bit of a sanctuary, whereas I didn't get that at any other place I have stayed in town (TI, Paris and the imploded Show Boat). There seems to always be that one day on the trip where you just need to recharge, so I like a room that I don't mind spending some time in. It seems to me that the Signature fits all of that, and it will definitely be on my short list for my next trip.

Yeah, I know we are getting away from the OPs issue, but some things EVERY hotel room should come with is a fridge and microwave. If you are in a hotel in the first place, you almost by definition are out of town and thus eating out. I would like to be able to heat up that leftover dinner in the comfort of my own room for a late night snack or perhaps for breakfast or lunch the following day.

That would be nice, and doable given the huge portions they serve in some places.

But I was thinking, to stay more or less on topic, of making lunch for the WoVCon ]I[ crowd. And cooking for myself, too.

True. Given the OPs point, I most definitely would like something like that. Like I said, my next trip to Vegas is going to probably be next spring. We are shooting for April, as I think April and October are the best months weather wise in that town.

How about that? I'm thinking about an April trip, too, WoVCon or not. Of course it's too early to be able to even tell. There's this co-worker who suually takes her vacation in April, leaving no chance for me then.

But May's not too bad.

May is not too bad. I was there in May of 2008 (stayed at TI) it was in the mid to upper 80s most days, and then the last day or 2 it got up to about 95, which coming off of a Chicago winter was kind of shocking to my system. Here I am driving with the window down with it being 45 degrees and voila.

Seems like a lot of people like this idea. I do, too! (JB - I know you don't have a lot going on so I'll suggest this....jk) Is there any way to program a calendar feature where registered members could post where they'll be? Not personal stuff like rooms, but which casino's on which dates? I'd look at it before a trip to post our info and see if anyone else was going to be there.

I'm really not trying to top every post you make, but it was my very first trip to Vegas (if you discount one when I was 8 or so). I gambled very little and mostly saw some of the sights on the Strip. The high point for that trip was the Star Trek rides at the Hilton. And I'm glad I went, because next year it was gone :(

Yeah, everyone remembers their first trip to Vegas. I have only been to town 4 times. In 1999 at the Show Boat (now imploded), in 2003 at the Paris, 2008 at TI and at my honeymoon last October at THE Hotel. I don't gamble as much when I go with my wife but I will have a session every other day when she needs to take a break. I actually got her to the BJ tables finally last time out, and she is excited to get back to them

Gabes, We had a great trip in March to PH Westgate (Now named Elara Hotel, I think). Fantastic rooms, great price and a short walk around the bend to the casino. Also right in the middle of the strip for sightseeing. Highly recommend it.

I also recall reading somehwere the whole place is non-smoking :(

I don't worry about calories on vacation. I just cut out one meal. Besides, in Vegas I walk no less than 2 hours every day. That takes care of calories for me. Restaurants try, I give them that, but they can't make satisfying and varied low-fat meals to suit me.

Added: how feasible would it be to wedge in a folding table or two, say for having fifteen people over.

Yeah that is another issue for my wife. I don't mind the smoke so much. I don't smoke myself excpet maybe a cigar at a wedding or something like that, but my wife doesn't like the smell of smoke. We really liked the way Mandalay Bay was able to cover up the smell of the smoke in their casino, even though it didn't infringe upon anyone's right to do so.

The whole place is non-smoking, however, I suppose you could smoke outside if you get one of the rooms that has a balcony.

The 2-room apartment has a dining table that would set around 4/5 people. If you moved that then you could get a bigger table in although 15 would be a squeeze unless you had some sitting on the sofa.

You could easily fit 15 people in for a buffet-style meal though.
