A step in the right direction.
Apparently their new Wynn Shopping Plaza has been a big dud and the elimination of parking fees is partly in reaction to that.

You can bet that a lot of eyes will be closely watching this play to see if it pans out.
Have you tried 22 tonight? I said 22.

Not just to see if it provides a needed jolt to the shopping but mainly to see if it is a sign that those offensive parking fees are finally going to be on their way out. Even the wealthy hate them.Quote: Gialmereclosely watching this play

one thing for them though is no one is going to park there to go anywhere else.
If the LINQ did free parking then you could park and jump on monorail to get anywhere on the strip.

Expect the worst and you will never be disappointed.

Apparently Wynn has raised their resort fee from $39 a night to $45 a night.

Was going to applaud the Wynn, but this new bit of information is making rethink it.
But at least I feel like I can visit for a few hours without the hassle of parking fees.

A feature easily defeated by requiring some sort of minimum gambling activity to validate the 'free' parking.Quote: GWAEIf the LINQ did free parking then you could park and jump on monorail to get anywhere on the strip.

What's annoying at the Wynn/Encore is that they aren't so liberal about comp'ing off those resort fees. Granted, these days my average bet is "only" a few hundred a hand, but if I'm good to go at Encore for a free suite and most or all of the food being comp'ed off too, then why can't the host make the resort fees disappear too? The last time I asked the Encore host simply said "I can't do anything about those fees."
I suspect that at Encore it may have to do with that we arrive on these "promotions" they email us for three or four free nights in an Encore suite, and then end up staying longer based on play, and when you arrive on a promotion the resort fees are never comp'ed up front. So then, I figure maybe that after the host sees a whole week or longer of resort fees already in place at checkout s/he is reluctant to make them disappear. But whatever the reason, Wynn/Encore is tight with comp'ing off the resort fees!
By comparison, my average bet these days is about the same at Cosmopolitan, and over there starting from my first stay last year, my host made all resort fees disappear (along with fully comp'ing the suite). Now I have a platinum Identity card at Cosmo, and with Gold or Plat. resort fees are waived automatically, but even before I attained that level still I never saw resort fees on my final Cosmo bill.

My theory is that the resort fee is a lot more difficult to comp because it's not a restaurant or casino related expense. I think the resort fee falls under hotel accounting and may require an act of congress to waive those. I was deciding between Luxor and Flamingo for my past trip. I was leaning towards staying at the luxor because they were giving me a few hundred dollars more of resort credits than Flamingo. Due to me bringing a dog, I called Luxor and asked if the pet fee can be paid with my resort credit or comp'd and I was told it cannot be comp'd or used with resort credits. Flamingo didn't charge anything for a pet as long as you get their "petstay" rooms, so I chose to stay with Harrah's.
