What do you want? Every room is a suite of sorts. Sure the maintenance has been deferred but for $24 a night how can you go wrong? They still have the shuttle to Harrah's so you can get ripped and be carried back and forth. Beware the little bus only holds 20 people so you might have to wait for another one. No biggie.

We got bumped up to a strip view with two beds. The mirror was off the track but otherwise the room was OK. Weird Layout.

The pool looked cool from the room but I was too hung over to go down there.

I think the place is on the way out. Too bad. Someone will buy it and keep it running. Hope it doesn't turn into a morgue.

The gambling is strip type but they had some Wheel of Fortune to keep my wife busy.

The buffet ain't what it used to be so they tell me but c'est lea vie!

Go on the web site and sign up for their e mail specials. You'll be glad you did!

Stayed there last summer, it was fine. Maybe
it was the summer before. I wouldn't
mind seeing some better VP, but........

One nice thing was getting free passes up to what-
ever the upper floor night club was called. Very
nice views of the Strip. And it wasn't even that
loud because it was only 10:00. They handed
out the passes about 9:45 every night on the
main casino floor.

We went up for the view, hung out for a bit, and
then back downstairs. Didn't even stay long
enough to enjoy an overpriced beverage.

For those who may be interested in the view that JohnnyQ reported, 15 months ago I posted a paste-up photo that I took from that location. If you want to see it, take a look at this post. You need to click on a link in that post to see the photo larger in a new window and finally click on that larger image itself to be able to scroll around and see the details in the full-sized version.

It is quite an impressive view from atop the Rio.

True. I think the same can be said of several properties. Maintenance has been deferred and buffets have been trimmed a bit and some shows have gone dark, a few restaurants that were are no more... but overall most places are still bargains even if its apparent that some belts have been taken in a notch or two.
