I just got an email that Shania Twain has signed a 2-year contract to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Since I am part of her fan club they are giving me the opportunity to purchase tickets in advance before the general public can purchase theirs. The pre-sale starts this Saturday morning, which is less than 72 hours from now, which to me, seems like really short notice. Also her first show won't even be until December 1st of 2012! I've never heard of tickets going on sale a year and a half in advance. Not complaining though.

It's funny cuz I'm not a country fan at all but I just absolutely love Shania! I found out recently that she was at The Grove in Los Angeles doing a book signing but found out too late. I was super bummed! I would've totally gone and would have loved to have met her. I think she is so beautiful!

I like Shania too, nice crossover artist. Selling tickets a year and a half in advance is absurd though. Guess they're trying to recoup her signing bonus immediately, and gauge interest for future sales.

How much were the tickets anyway?

I recall getting emails about Celine Dion's return to Caesars well over a year before the scheduled date, incluidng inof on how to get tickets online. So it would seem a common state of affairs for this company.

Hey, if you're REALLY a fan, and REALLY want good seats...

My only question is, are they refundable. I mean, if I had any desire (I don't), I wouldn't mind forking over the money as long as I could get it back if I couldn't go to Vegas at that time. Hell, I might even pay for tickets for two or three different dates, so I could remain flexible.

But I'm not a fan, so it's a moot point.

I tried looking on TicketMaster but for some reason I'm having issues on their site.

That's kind of nuts. What if Shania gets pregnant and can't perform, needs to check into rehab, or there are construction delays? The unknowns, and the present value of the cash would keep me from locking it up for 18 months... unless:

Are there extra incentives like a backstage tour, party pass, or exclusive autograph session, only available if you buy now?

Tickets are $55 to $250, plus applicable fees. I think people who are asking if there are bonuses for buying tickets 18 months in advance completely miss the point. There will be only 1/4 million tickets available for the first year.

In comparison, Celine Dion on her year long Taking Chances Tour in 2008–09 performed before 3 million people. I think the entire year for Shania Twain will be sold in a day or two.

Paco, where did you find these prices? I looked Shania up on TicketMaster and the page won't load properly.

Plus, I'm surprised you didn't whip out one of your charts...... ;-P

CP web page gave the the price range. But tickets don't go on sale until June 19. If you have a specific date in mind, then I would get an AMEX card.

I couldn't think of what to put in a chart. Charts are more for things that change over time. Shania Twain is only doing 60 shows a year. Celine Dion regularly sold out 200 shows a year. As a matter of fact Celine Dion is doing 70 shows a year at the same time Shania is performing. Bette Midler was doing 100 shows a year.

Hahaha, I was just kinda joking about the chart thing. And TicketMaster's page was finally loading properly. People who are members of her fanclub, like I am, can buy presale tickets this Saturday at 10am.

This has always baffled me. I can appreciate there are different interests out there that I just don't get, but I can't think of a single Bette Midler song, or any Celine songs except the Titanic theme. Does Celine just sing that song over and over for 90 minutes? Does she even get airplay on the radio? How do people know who she is? Or who Wayne Newton is for that matter? Does HE get any airplay these days? Does he just sing Danke Schoen over and over? I can only surmise their record sales are so high because their fanbase is sooooo old they don't know how to download the music for free.

Bette Midler starred in the Rose over 30 years ago, and she has made 17 movies with her in a lead role. She has release 21 albums, and has over 40 years of stage experience. She has been nominated for two Academy Awards; and won four Grammy Awards, four Golden Globes, three Emmy Awards, and a special Tony Award. She has plenty of material.

Anyone in a Krusty episode is famous enough for me.

As for Celine

I would hire her if I wanted someone to knock a song out of the park, but probably have no one remember who sang it.

Celine Dion was quite popular in Quebec before Titanic. She owns an incredible voice, too. But I ahve to admit I've never heard her sing anything other than "My Heart Will Go On."

On the other hand singers and bands who are one-hit wonders don't usually have much of a career, much less a long-running gig in Vegas or anyhwere else. Having said that, I can only recall one song by Shania Twain, and no songs at all by any number of singers or bands way too numerous to mention. So that proves absolutely nothing, except that I'm past my teens :P

I just watched the clip. Poor Shania. I love her.

Shania Twain has TONS of hits, and Celine Dion has a lot as well. I'm surprised some of you aren't more familiar with their songs. But maybe cuz I was a music major in college I paid more attention to that stuff, idk.

Where does my heart beat now? when she was just age 21, and had only recently began singing in English. She had already released 8 albums in French starting at the age of 13 with the 8th on her 19th birthday. She had a huge hit that same year with the primary duet in Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

But I said they don't have long running shows in Vegas. A one night appearance at an off- off-Strip casino doesn't qualify.

Shania Twain is a star, of course, but she falls short in my book as far as the headliners at Caesars go. That being said, my book is often wrong, and ticket sales will tell the story. With Celine doing less than 50% of the shows she was booked for earlier in the life of that room, they have a large number of nights to fill. If someone like Shania can come in, do 70 shows a year, and build a reputation as a "great show to see", they'll have made a good investment. If she falls short of that, they'll have at least filled the dates left open by Celine's limited number of performances.

We'll see what happens. Right now this show is not even close to being one I'd like to see at the normal prices. That is just my opinion...

I got beyond caring how many hits a band had when I was about twelve, and starting caring if they were any good.

Sure. But if you don't much care for music and don't pay much attention to the "music scene," you're more likely to hear of bands with a number of hits rather than those with just one.

Thankfully that is just your opinion. I can't disagree with you more.
Shania is on par with the greatest entertainers in the world and that is fact.
If Shania falls short as a headliner in Vegas then nobody qualifies then.
Shania is one of the most successful and biggest selling artists of alltime.Shania has had massive successful worldwide tours grossing hundreds of millions of dollars.
Shania can still demand premium ticket prices worldwide for her concerts. Maybe she is too qualified to be a Vegas headliner.

Seriously I do understand everyone has an opinion but you someone makes a statement like Shania falls short I sure would like to know how she falls short.
She holds the record for biggest female album of alltime. She is the only artist in history with 3 diamond albums in a row. And she is the biggest selling country female of alltime.
Some people may not be fans or may not even know all of her hits worldwide but at least you would think someone would do research before making comments like Shania falls short.

If anything Shania is too qualitfied.
many of Shania's fans are upset she decided to do Vegas instead of another world tour. They think it is beneath her. But Shania didn't want to travel with her son and wanted to stay in one place so this is the next best thing.

I would much rather go to a Shania show than a Celine show. Shania is a better entertainer. Celine may have the stronger vocals but Shania has the better songs and better interaction with fans.

So I am actually upset Shania is doing Vegas. That means she can't go around the world to her millions of fans. And those who can't afford to go to Vegas from other countries will not be able to see her anytime soon.
