Quote: VegasriderThey discussed this on VSIN this morning, a local pro sports better goes into Caesars for breakfast. $8 for a small glass of OJ, $26 for a breakfast burrito. After it’s all said and done, breakfast for two with tip well over $100! What a total rip off, I guess they think it’s more important to get their money on a one and done than trying to get repeat business. Hearing these stories just make me hate Vegas more and more.
Did anyone force them to eat there? Did the place deceive them on the prices? Not likely on both counts. No sympathy here.

because only comped people would
be dumb enough to eat there, and
think they were getting a great deal
because it's free.

It's the thought that counts.
Last time I was on the strip, I had breakfast at the Earl of sandwich. Real good breakfast sandwich
Now if you want waiter service for your breakfast, that's a different story
burritos
coffee
toothbrushes
game odds
I have used the example of the Venitian and Terribles so long its probably no longer accurate.
a toothbrush at the venetian was eight dollars and at Terriblrs it was 99 cents.
that is illustrative of the entire town.
All items in all places have similar pricing structures.
some people like it, some people hate it.
I don't like paying for coffee and pastries to take up to the room for my comatose companion when I can get them free in the casino 200 feet away, but my comatose companion likes it that way. And we all know: females win all arguments at all times. So I pay for the exotic coffees and fancy scones and take them up the room. That is what life is like.
There are a helluva lot of people visiting Las Vegas who have a lot of money, and they enjoy spending it in sin city.
Many probably enjoy being ensconced in the ivory tower of a high end casino, chomping a $100.00 breakfast while looking down their noses at the lesser mortals.
Privilege on display?
Quote: MrVObviously their business model is working out OK for them: hello, supply and demand.

High rollers who eat $100+ breakfasts on PURPOSE, go figure. I'd rather be a low roller and enjoy my $5 McDonald's Breakfast than be a high roller and drop $100+ on breakfasts!

When you have more comps than you can use because Host clears invoice for you at end of stay . . .
Las Vegas Caesar's is one of the most well-known and highest-end casinos in the world, of course it's going to be pricey.
Quote: AxelWolfAn $8 OJ triggers me.
Add a quarters worth of Captain Morgan and you have no problem paying $15 for it

Prices are much more than i'd like, but you're right. McDonald's in-between Harrah's and Casino Royale isn't that far if he wanted to save $80-90 for the two of them.

Sure, if you want to eat next to a couple of hung over frat bros and a family from Iowa.
Quote: TigerWuI had a $20-something breakfast at the Flamingo a year or so ago and it was all-you-can eat, with bottomless bloody marys and mimosas.

Now THAT'S reasonable since it was all you can eat plus all you can drink Bloody Mary and Mimosa. The OPs way too overpriced breakfast for two seemed like it should have been a $10 meal at MOST.
Last time at the Wynn we did go to Denny's a few times!

That is definitely an above average, not-normal restaurant pricing scheme. Even for the Vegas Strip. Or Disney World. Or many other major tourist areas.

Should rename that joint to Cafe Bandito😎
I like the Flamingo buffet for breakfast. We usually are doing it as part of the 24 hour CET buffet deal which is ~ $ 50.Quote: TigerWuI had a $20-something breakfast at the Flamingo a year or so ago and it was all-you-can eat, with bottomless bloody marys and mimosas.
CET buffets for lunch and dinner have really slipped over the past few years.

Well over $100? Your post is #FakeNews
There's literally a receipt he posted on his Twitter showing $75.23
Quote: AxelWolfAn $8 OJ triggers me.
I ordered an OJ at a local chain over the weekend and it was $6.99. Granted it was a big glass, but $6.99 gave me heart palpitations.
Quote: FinsRuleWhat’s wrong with Hash House? I spent like $20 there and it was great
That is where I just had the $6.99 OJ and it wasn't even on the strip or downtown.

The menu I posted claims it’s fresh squeezed, which makes a little more sense, but $8 is still ridiculous.
A higher end grocery store near me sells 1/2 gallons of OJ that is made fresh in store for $12. And people buy the hell out of it.

I've seen self serve machines in stores, and even in the middle of the shopping mall, that squeeze oranges for you while you wait. The oranges are loaded in a hopper, then fed via machinery through the squeezer. The juice is collected at the bottom.
I gotta wonder how sanitary that is. At least at the restaurant you have some hope the person washed the orange, and hopefully the juicer before processing the fruit.
Hash House a Go Go is good, but things on the Strip in general, are expensive. There's much better for less off strip. I suppose if your business is paying your per diem, you care less, but I won't pay $4 for a cup of coffee.

I listened to VSIN, I didn't see the receipt but with tip, i can expect to see 100 bucks. Besides we had a member just post that he spent over $100 for breakfast at the same place. I can walk across the street to the Nugget in Sparks on Saturday morning and get a breakfast buffet including cook to order eggs or omelet with bottomless beverages for $5.50, $11 for the general public.
I think there’s plenty of middle ground between a $10 breakfast and an $80 breakfast.
Quote: TigerWuThat is definitely an above average, not-normal restaurant pricing scheme. Even for the Vegas Strip. Or Disney World. Or many other major tourist areas.
When a restaurant does that it means
they're trying to keep the Riff Raff out.
And it usually works.
Quote: FinsRuleIf I’m going on vacation, I want something better than Denny’s for breakfast.

Hmm. Something that's not obviously cheap like Denny's but not expensive like $80. Maybe a breakfast place that will let you have an all you can eat breakfast for like $25 including tax and tip? A local hotel was offering unlimited pancakes, sausages, eggs, fresh fruit, bacon, cheese, hash browns, breakfast potatoes, toast, orange juice, coffee, pastries, muffins, bagels, etc, all the toppings, for only $25 tops. It was like Denny's older and more sophisticated brother. ;)
Quote: AxelWolfAn $8 OJ triggers me.
Denny's orange juice glass is only about $3. ;) Wanna go to a Denny's? You can give more than two people juice at Denny's for the same price of one $8 OJ. ;)

One example:
Breakfast Entrées
THE NEW YORKER
two organic farm eggs any style
choice of meat and choice of toast
choice of one glass of fresh squeezed
orange or grapefruit juice
La Colombe coffee or Le Palais des Thés loose leaf tea*
$45
(remember, those are organic eggs so it's SO worth it)
You can keep your organic eggs. Gimme that $18 bowl of Raisin Bran! (Which is only $12 at Caesars Palace. What a bargain!)Quote: HullabalooIt's all about context. For people that are used to Old Vegas it's a ripoff but if you compare it to other major hotels of a similar caliber it's still a ripoff, but a justifiable one. Room rates are the same way; ridiculous to some who have been going to Vegas for years, but a bargain when you compare it to other cities.

BTW, I was going to mention the Player's Breakfast at Jokers Wild -- eggs, hash browns, meat & toast for $2.49, but those ba****s raised the price to $3.49! A 40% increase!
Stay off Boulder Hwy -- total rip off! ;P

I think we all know he didn't tip over 33%.

So the $160 parking fee for 90 minutes at Caesers was fake too? Do you live in Nevada? 30% tips are the norm. It's a service industry state that relies on tips. Although I'm not in the service industry, I always try to tip at least 25%.
I'm not a Twitter user, just signed up last month, so I dont follow the sports better Bill.
Obviously 90 % of us will not be paying that much for breakfast but it just illustrates how much the strip is ripping people off. I guess it's like the 6:5 BJ, or laying 120 juice, some people dont care or know any better
I generally sleep until the crack of noon so breakfast is long over by my first meal.

Yes, I do. 30% tips are not the norm.
And let's just say he did tip 30%.... that comes out to a whopping $97.80!!! A really far cry from the #FakeNews in your opening post.

Regardless of the exact number, it's still waaaay more than a breakfast should cost.
