Wasn't Harrah's buying up PH's debt last spring? Where did this end up? I can't imagine they would do this in their condition and given their ... ability ... to operate as well as its competitors, but they're still around.

I wonder ... is there some sort of assemblage in the future, another CityCenter-esqe development, now that they own pretty much the east side of the mid-strip?

I don't think this will be new to anyone, but does anyone else out there think that Harrah's is just a few steps behind MGM and others in its operations? Hard to putmy finger on. I know one VP personally from college ... great dude, Harvard MBA type ... but he is also in that nether-world of "this model works on the computer, why isn't it working in life". We talk relatively often, but I doubt I have much real influence on his eventual decisions, as we talk mostly about our college days. It's not so often we talk about trips, what I liked, why I go/don't go, etc.

Anyway, he does put me on VIP lists FAR, FAR above my real play, but at other companies. I guess there's some kind of COI if he did it for Harrah's, but that seems a little off. Why put me and my gambling money in other casinos?

Harrah's now owns PH. The Total Rewards card works in the PH casino and the Spice Market Bufet is part of Harrah's 24 bufet pass. You can also reserve rooms at PH through Harrah's TR website.

Just a thought, but maybe there is some reciprocation going on with the other company? Say, if he puts you at MGM, they can send over one of their own to Harrahs for the VIP treatment and not have to worry about conflict of interest. The casino business is pretty chummy.

Planet Hollywood was sold to Harrah's Entertainment by acquiring debt. The takeover was outwardly friendly with Robert Earl earning a place in the combined company.

PH was struggling to make a profit for all of its existence.
