She is the Mayor of the city. Every location I've heard mentioned for the stadium isn't in the city so she has no jurisdiction. The City of Las Vegas is quite small compared to what people call Las Vegas. Many tourist spend a week in Las Vegas without ever entering the city.
Trick question- What's the largest casino in the City of Las Vegas?
PS.- the two year lease on the Rio makes more sense now.

This is all B.S. There was no real consideration for them to move it here. If you listened to the conversation the commissioner said that if the A's don't drop their lawsuit the team may move, then he said who know's, maybe they will go to Vegas too (referencing the Raiders). That was the extent of it.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.

The hot rumor going around is that the Rio will be imploded and a baseball stadium built.

It's been in circulation since 2017. A's top farm team plays here and came close to withdrawing them.

There have been rumors of the A's moving for over 10 years. Yes, Las Vegas has been mentioned and the politicians do want a baseball team. This most recent story is so overblown. MLB wants the A's to drop a lawsuit and is saying if they don't they may lose the A's. Maybe they will move to Las Vegas, maybe San Antonio, maybe Mexico City.
At my age, a "Life In Prison" sentence is not much of a deterrent.
