Thanks to all who tried. I'm softly giving up too.
I'm beginning to wonder if they did a priority sort based on your profile and newbies got shuffled to the back or something.
The annoying thing is I signed in 25 min early, got the youre early message, and refreshed every 2 seconds from 2:58 until it said I was in the queue. Really? How many thousands of people got ahead of me in a 2 second interval?? Maybe it mattered when people got in line early?
Phone is locked up keeping the link active. So if you want to talk to me, PM or post here. I'm afraid to even use another app for fear the Chrome will go inactive while I do. lol...
Yeesh. If some are getting "you're in line" messages and others are getting "sold out" messages, I don't know what to think, except that they've estimated that there are more trying to buy than it's possible to sell, and those still in queue will get a chance, but those indicating sold out are no chance at all.
IDK. New vendor...crap. Makes us all into lab rats.
The RENO article sez "Tickets also can be acquired by joining an arts and/or volunteer group" which sounds interesting. Build some ART and then burn it down.
Quote: AyecarumbaI just checked back into the profile page, and the logo has been updated to indicate the main sale is over.
{redacted string of curse words)
So, your sale was messed up, last you posted, Did you get confirmed tix?
What they're saying, unless they lied about first come first serve, is the sale was over in less than 2 seconds, but I've been sitting here getting shined on for the last 3 hours. Either way, Screw those people.

My wife was hanging in on her cell phone. She got the boot at 3 hours and 10 minutes. Sale over. She was beyond pissed...lol. I think she took it personal.
She is really good at stuff like this and basically said they are inept compared to other organizers.😂
Off to cook.
Why not mail order.
Its old school but very fair
That's one on things I loved about the Grateful Dead.
They cared about their fans and made ticket access fair.
1/2 tix sold through ticketmaster, 1/2 sold through their mail order system
I always ordered tix through their mail order company, GDTS, Grateful Dead Ticket Sales
They were very fair and so I got front section seats for a lot of shows.

Nothing yet. I am not hopeful that I had a successful transaction. I finally refreshed the page and got a 404.
They got my info, including my cc details, but I didn't receive any confirmation... yet. I sent them an inquiry via the form on the website, as I assume the ticket help email box must be flooded.
They have a multi-million dollar budget, decades of experience, and a known number of potential buyers since they required profile pre-registration. One would think they could do a better job managing the sale.
I can only imagine the BS you have to tolerate at the event itself. Some hippie at the gate, "Welcome to the playa, you're now on your own, park in our dustbowl right over here for $100 + fees, submit your $425 + fees ticket sucka, and don't forget to take your trash with you."....lol
Second, I can take losing a random thing, but this was truly frustrating. I tend to agree with the situation Barb said, that only the people who entered the queue withing the first few seconds got through. Okay, fine, just tell the losers as soon as the ticket are gone, not 3 hours and 10 minutes later. I don't know what it would take technically, but it would seem fair that they have a limited period to enter a lottery to buy tickets and then they have a true random draw.
Third, yes, people who are with some kind of art project bypass this chaos and are guaranteed tickets.
Fourth, a good friend of mine did get a couple tickets and kindly offered me the other one. I am not sure I'm going to take it. I had envisioned renting a nice big trailer from a friend and going with my own circle of friends. I scored zero for other people and I'm not happy about it. Maybe it wasn't meant to be. This would give me more bargaining power with Mrs. Wizard to do a big hiking trip in Utah and Colorado this summer.

I’m guessing the people running this are off to the same. Except they are not cooking dinner. They seriously need better technology.
Got work done while waiting so no big deal.
There is a point of commonality, based on reddit and twitter reports, that people on queue who got shut out were nearly all on Google Chrome, and people using other browsers were able to get through. I'd be curious to know what people were using, especially Aye, since he got thru but crashed.
Specific mentions were apple browsers such as safari, and edge on incognito got thru. Some people claimed they signed on via Chrome, got put on hold, tried via a different browser, and got thru even while the chrome load kept spinning.
I was on Chrome for Android, then laptop Chrome.
Don't thank me, I wasn't a sucker, I farmed that task out. I helped get the word out and had my better half try.Quote: WizardFirst and most importantly, thank you Barb, Aye, Axel, Max, GWAE, boz, johnny, and anyone I'm forgetting for trying. I know you gave up your valuable time to help me out and I very much appreciate it. Five non-members also tried to score tickets for me and all had the same aggravating experience we did. Counting me, that makes my average 0 for 13.

I tried Safari, Chrome, and Firefox. I think it was Chrome via my burner profile that made it in, but it may have been Firefox via the email. I seem to recall Firefox timing out the host server faster than Chrome.
Funny thing is I just got on my phone a few minutes ago and found a minimized page with the queue page still spinning...

Me too.
Burning Man ticket sale is over; process full of glitches
However, my friend who I went with last year DID get tickets and very kindly offered me the other one. While other hurdles haven't been jumped over yet, I would like to accept it and hope I can.
I apologize for being a crybaby about the sale yesterday.
Quote: WizardAfter the dust has settled a bit, let me say something. I was in a foul mood yesterday over the whole ticket fiasco and my initial reaction was #@%$ it -- I don't even want to go anymore.

No apology necessary, at least to me. You didn't run a goat rope, you got roped like the rest of us. The real issue for me yesterday was that they left me hanging for hours longer than necessary. My issue today is that people cheated to jump the queue, completely contrary to the whole event. Reading along the feeds, there's no doubt that thousands of people gamed the system. Infuriating.

You have every right to complain
They have been putting on BM for years.
Cant believe they make you BM'ers go through what happened yesterday
Talk about poor customer service
It almost seems like they enjoy that their event is such a tough ticket to get and want to keep it that way making BM'ers struggle every year.
They really need to do a fair mail order system
Grateful Dead did it and the fans loved them for doing it
Phish, who are hugely popular and have massive interest in their New Years shows has a mail order system for fairness. Again their fans love them for it.
You send off the mail order and keep your fingers crossed
Not wasting anybody's time and its a real fair system
Whatever sense of community burners once felt must be pretty threatened right now.

Thank you for the kind words. Can suggest a feed or two so I can read for myself what people are saying?

Here's an interesting post I copied from reddit
"For what it’s worth, this is what I think happened: 1) At noon BM opened the test queue/url instead of the real queue (this caused the pre-created email links to the correct queue not to work, but the on-line Burner Profile links would since they’re created at the time of being pushed. This also caused the majority of fervent Burners to switch over to the Burner Profile link as they heard from friends that this worked). 2) Realizing their mistake BM quickly swapped over to correct queue (leaving everyone in the test queue SoL briefly). 3) Around 12:30 they shoehorned everyone in the test queue to the real queue, but our computers continued to poll the test url. 4) People began to catch on that deleting your cookies/changing browsers/using incognito mode caused your page to fully reload and begin polling the correct queue. 5) Since everyone in the test queue was moved to the front of the correct queue they were all able to access the purchasing page unfettered if they removed cookies (causing the server to be overloaded leading to missing buttons, blank pages, and charges that did not result in purchased tickets).
I think the real question is how BM is going to move on from this. This mistake resulted in the vast majority of the most impassioned and enthusiastic Burners who queued at exactly noon to not receive tickets – huge groups were receiving 5% of their ticket goals, people going for years didn’t receive tickets, and major contributors are without tickets. In some sense, this mistake created a truly random process for ticket sales which could be a good thing having fresh new faces. In some other sense, this heavily skews ticket sales towards the less-impassioned novice.
At the very least, the BM community is owed an explanation and apology for the problems with the ticket sales. At this point I don’t think a redo is possible – the price of reversing all of the charges alone would be staggering – but BM is going to have to do something to skew back towards veterans or risk a BM with many freeloaders, little experience, and low turnout."
"If you’ve been going for years and still rely on the main sale for your tickets you might reconsider what you’re contributing to the community.
Most people who have been going for years contribute to the community in a way that makes a ticket a non issue."

Sounds likt it's a closed club with a few newbies allowed in each year to pay the bills.
Any 100 burners could buy a 50 acre spread in Pershing County and party year round for what they spend in a week at BM.
Quote: WizardTo answer my own question, here is a Reddit forum on the topic of the ticket sale yesterday--OFFICIAL 2019 TICKET SUCCESS/FAIL THREAD. All kinds of theories about why things went wrong. One thing many are saying is those who were successful did exactly what the "sexual assault" screen told you not to -- refresh.
Hopefully you do go and report back on if you feel it’s a different crowd from last year.
With all the stories about BLM wanting changes, maybe it will never be the same.
But some have said that for years. Maybe it’s just adapting, like many successful things always do.

Hello,
This will probably bounce back, so I'll keep it short. I just wanted to express my frustration with what an epic failure the sale was yesterday. I was part of a group of 13 people looking to buy tickets. We all followed the rules and zero of us were successful. I can take that, but what was really aggravating is looking at the attached screen for three hours! One person in my group got past it but made it only half way through the order process and the system just kicked him out.
Meanwhile, others on BM forums are bragging how they cheated the system and got through.
I have two suggestions:
1. Fire whoever set up this fiasco.
2. Just go to a simple lottery system, where everyone has a same chance.
Thank you for listening.

I don't think they really care. Its a sellers market to the extreme

It felt good to at least get it off my chest. I'll bet a beer that I get a personal reply.

I find it amusing that you still think they care.
*well since I sortof never intended to go

Quote: GialmereUh oh burners. The feds (and Reno) have issues with your festival.

Thanks for posting the second link...
Shouldn't the festival pay for the costs of clean-up to the area they visit as part of the process of getting their permits?
Do they leave a mess?

Every festival I have ever attended and I have attended a lot, just as big as burning Man, has always been on private land.
The only festival I have ever attended on public land were festivals on the mall in DC
