What time does the get together usually happen on Friday night? (I know the main event is on Saturday)

My nerdy notes in my phone calendar say that last year five of us met at MSS at 6:00 on Friday night, walked to Triple George for dinner, then returned to MSS and met up there with two others who had missed us at 6:00. We played craps until about 9:45. Confession: times for such events shown in my calendar are not always precise. I just try to have some record of what I did and maybe what my gaming results were.

As I think I noted earlier, I don't have notes for 2014. For 2013, my calendar says I ate lunch at 777 @ MSS at 1pm, played craps there from 2-4 in what we called WoVCon 2.5, then wandered Fremont Street with the group until 5:30, returning for dinner at the MSS buffet from 6-7pm. By 8 my wife and I were out at the strip.

Yes, our timing of events does vary year-to-year, just as the main event is sometimes lunch, sometimes supper, and sometimes blurs that line.

Anyway, I have now booked my airline flights, my hotel rooms (in LV for Wed-Sun nights 4/13-17 and Monday night down in Laughlin), and my rental car. If the 2016 Spring Fling doesn't happen that weekend, it will have to happen without me.

Since I haven't heard from any volunteers to organize the thing, I guess I will start another poll thread to try to gauge interest in the "Where?" issue, followed by the "What?" details. Warning: if things drag on like this and wind up with my having to set date, time, and activity, this could be a very boring gathering.

I think dinner (around 5pm) followed by whatever form of gambling we decide upon (or multiple forms) sounds fun. Dinner then craps, or poker, or even pai gow =P... I just hope it's the Pai Gow version where I can bet that I DO pai gow, because then I'm really good at that game!
Playing it correctly means you've already won.

Is there still a sigma derby in downtown vegas? Perhaps can play there for a little bit.
Otherwise I give a thumbs up to craps at MSS as per tradition! And maybe at the Cal if there's not enough spots at the MSS like in 2014.

Of course I won't know until mid March if I can attend haha! Hopefully tickets will still be under $400 30 days out.

I'd love to attend again (I was at WOVCON III) but that is the weekend of my annual men's golf trip to Florida. 36 holes a day for 5 days, plus lots of drinks and betting. There are only a few things that trump a trip to Vegas for me, but this is one of them.

Dagnabbit! I was looking forward to meeting you. Really appreciate you running the NFL Handicapper each year.

I'm booked in for those dates as well. Plane arrives on the 12th. Headed around Nevada for three days and should be back mid Friday in time for the Friday night meet up. Still trying to find hotels that don't want my first born. I haven't received my comp offers yet for April from the GN but I think I should be able to get the weekend comped there. Then might switch to downtown grand for three nights as well since they have sent me deals for comped rooms during the week.

I've never attended the spring meets. But I might this year. I'll let you know...

So last night I grew a set of balls. Ok, just one ball. But it was enough so that I could mention the meet up to the wife and to express my desire to go. Her response was that if I want to go, I should go!

Over the weekend, I'm gonna ask her if she was serious.

We're talking about 4/16, right?

I already started looking at prices. If I come, I'll be on the first flight Saturday morning. I'll get to town around noon. I figure I'll go home Tuesday night.

Excellent, DJTB!

Yes, the main event is planned for Saturday 4/16, but if you can slip away a day earlier, there are likely to be ancillary events. In case it got by you unseen, there is a separate What? and Where? thread with poll questions.
