I'm back and did want to apologize to the Mods and others who may have been offended by reading what caused my suspension. It was my first suspension and I knew it would be coming when I posted it as I stated. If the decision would have been longer than 3 days, even though it was my first, based on what I wrote I would have lived with it because of the respect I have for The Wizard and the Mods on this site. That all said, wishing an IRS Audit on anyone that you dont know their life or how they live it isnt exactly good conduct either. By no means is it worthy of a suspension and that is not what I am saying. What I am saying is it was something that bothered me to the point of making the decision to respond to it with my feelings on it, knowing I would be suspended.
Now I am moving on and will work to continue to try and add positive things to the forum and stay away from the petty negative stuff.

I would be cool with this rule. I block almost all threads that degenerate into political discussions.
The problem is that you can always ancilarily relate it to gambling, due to betting on elections via whatever.

The dimensions of the image exceed the allowable limit? (1024x1024). That seems way too large to put into a post. I have no problem seeing the image when I copy/paste the URL into my browser.

Odd. I've never had problems before. I tend to try to keep them small, but I have posted even larger with no reported issues.

And now the pic is displaying correctly in the posts above. Maybe it cached the pic on my machine?

Many folks probably come here after posting on unmoderated or loosely moderated boards.
There is a definite "learning curve" as to what one can and cannot post at WoV.

Just type as you woud speak to someone in person.
The internet annominity I think causes alot of insults to fly back and forth.
In person this really doesn't happen.
If responding, just type as if the person is face to face with you and it should be all good. No real learning curve, just respect for the person you are communicating with.
When somebody doesn't believe me, I could care less. Some get totally bent out of shape when not believed. Weird. I believe very little on all forums

Bohemian was suspended the first time for "passing on messages from banned member". After reading the rules several times I could not find that particular one. The post in question seemed in keeping with the thread and seemed to contain a lot of good information. I don't see where a banned member explicitly requested that Bohemian pass it on or post it here. My take is that he got an email from someone, thought it would be helpful and shared it here. He even tried to do the right thing by crediting the author, never dreaming that a Forum Rule was being violated. There's something to be said for intent, especially in this case.
I've said many times that new members as well as old members should familiarize themselves with the Forum Rules and read them often but would it have mattered in this case?

There seems, in the context of this discussion, to be a conflict between the following two rules:
"4. Respect privacy. Do not post any information about someone else that is intended to be private or quote from private communication."
and
"15. Private Messaging: Private messages are supposed to be private. Of course, by mutual agreement they can be quoted to a larger audience. The rules above also apply to private messaging, including rule #1. An exception to the privacy rule is that abuses may be reported to the Wizard, JB or Mission146. We will treat it like a "coach's challenge" in the NFL. If a banning is warranted, it will be given. If not, a banning of a perceived victim may be made for making a false claim. (Added 8/17/2012)"

What is the conflict? You can't post something that someone sends you privately unless the person who sent it gives you permission to do so.

The conflict involves the prohibition of quoting from private communication.
Obviously the info was sent by a banned former member to him via "private communication" i.e. e-mail, and he posted it.

If it were an exception, one would think it would be in the body of the particular rule itself, and it is not.
That is why I say "conflict."

Whether there is a written rule against it or not, that was the stated reason for the suspension.
The Wizard can suspend anyone for whatever reason he chooses. There is nothing that says that the set of written rules is a complete list of reasons for suspension.

I suppose the best way to look at it is that it is now a common law, or "judge made" rule, not a "statutory" or written rule.
But yeah, his playhouse, he can do whatever he wants and exclude whomever he wants for whatever reason.
