I would suggest starting at the Top of Page 2, if not all the way back on Page 1, to get the gist of the trolling. It's not for the one individual post to which I have linked, but for a culmination of sarcastic and trolling posts directed at the very people who are trying to help him with something.
You know, because Vlad3Tetes' posts consistently contain Earth-shattering gambling revelations previously unknown and otherwise incomprehensible to all of us were it not for his deigning to enlighten us with his boundless knowledge.
If being a troll can get you suspended, calling me a troll should be a personal insult.
All I did was post a youtube video of Bill Zender. Why the hell MISTER Lubin reacted like he did, I have no idea !!!

First offense, but given the context, that's about as severe as an insult can get.

Jeez. People gotta figure out. If you're gonna block, just do it. There's no need to announce it.
Folks: THE FORUM TAKES PLACE IN YOUR HEAD. Yes, there are other people involved. But it's all inside your mind. You have complete control, to stay or go, to block or read. Don't lose control. If you are insulted, look around you: there is nothing different from right before you read the post. Just block and move on. It's power. Keep it quiet that you have exercised it.
Whatever. I usually delete this stuff before posting. I'll wing this one out there and see what happens.

I couldn't tell you how many times I have typed a post and right before hitting post I decided it was better not to.

I do that too. Then I forget that I didn't actually post it and I come back later to see what the responses were:-)

I do that more here than anywhere else. I also have noticed I am less censored when I post drunk. But I haven't gone off the deep end... yet.
Speaking of things that take place in your head. The meaning of songs often times just take place in your head. I don't think I ever listened to the words of that song, I always thought it was just something people liked to play at the end of a night after parting. kind of like Semisonic's Closing Time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGytDsqkQY8.Quote: Ahigh
I doubt in the 80's i knew 99 red balloons was a anti war song. I still don't think of it like that when i hear it, no matter how hard I try.
The meaning of songs would probably be a good thread to start, for someone who likes to start NON gambling related threads.
Is that often?Quote: tringlomaneI do that more here than anywhere else. I also have noticed I am less censored when I post drunk. But I haven't gone off the deep end... yet.

I don't change my mind on making a post that often. But I wouldn't be shocked if I did it 1% of the time or so.

Friends don't let friends drink and post.

Eh, I'm a "good" drunk. And if any heavy math is involved, I'll wait till later.

Sometimes, when I see an edit, I wonder what the original post said. I can't speak for Vlad but, since he quoted what Mission said about him, could he have felt insulted? Did he find the words sarcastic as well as insulting? Did he feel that the post violated Forum Rules 1 and 12? Perhaps he was going to object and saw the futility in it. This is, of course, all speculation on my part.

I'm pretty sure "edit" is the original post in this case. Look at the post that got him suspended.

It's up to you whether or not to read sarcasm into that, but even if you choose to do so, my post clearly spoke to his posts rather than him as a person. The only part that spoke to him as a person was the praise I rained upon him for his, "Boundless knowledge."
Taken literally, that may be one of the most complimentary posts I've ever written, and I did nothing to indicate the post should be taken any other way.
By inference, we should take it another way? :-)Quote: Mission146I did nothing to indicate the post should be taken any other way.

No, I have no choice but to see this as a sarcastic personal insult because I was born with an IQ above 70.
So there are two ways to regard your post, as precedent. 1) It is within the rules to say: Hey (name redacted), you are really cool and not stupid. I don't hate you. Everything you say is really awesome. I hope you don't die. OR 2) Mods are above Rules 1 & 12.
1) The Mission Exception OR 2) The Wizard Privilege. What does your post exemplify?

The reasons for the length are:
A.) He just received a public Warning yesterday for his behavior.
B.) He's been a Member for about three minutes total and is already stirring crap.
AND
C.) Another cup of coffee, and it might have only been two weeks. Haven't had the caffeine quota yet to ensure reasonableness.
By the way, letter C is my way of being facetious, just for the record.

Just make it possible for everyone who has ever been nuked to vent 24/7 in a single customized thread. You could name the thread "Hell" or "Purgatory" "the damned" or "Ship of Fools" etc., and when you get bored, you can go down and read what they are saying.

That'd be hilarious.

I was a Staff Member/Moderator for an internet gaming site and there was one topic in the forum where you could say anything you wanted. Any language, any subject, any abuse you could dish out about someone except for bringing in private information. When you clicked on the topic it took you to a warning screen telling you if you were squeamish do not enter. It was very entertaining.

Pray, why is it so hard to simply ...behave?Quote: AxelWolfI think the forum could have Private threads where you need a password to join the conversation, people cant talk about or say what they want within reason. A WARNING AND DISCLAIMER, possibly with a yes let me enter check box. First day members could be disallowed to view the the private threads. When a thread or a few guys start to get out of hand, a mod could split it off to a private thread.

We need such a thread here. It would seriously decrease bans. And dramatically increase the entertainment value of this site, mainly because LarryS would be less likely to be banned.

Yes, have it set up so that it is the ONLY thread that people who are currently banned can post upon; also relax the moderation on it.
Heck, they're already banned, damned and dead.
While we regulars might find it amusing, I doubt that it would do much to impress / entice the Wiz's potential clients / sponsors.
It'll never happen.

I think the Wizard should consider some sort of appeals avenue at least. If banned, you have no recourse except what is basically activist jury nullification. This leads to "NotDraculas". I like that painting. Who is the artist?

Mission you SUCK!!! Man I feel so much better. :) This stuff reminds me of all the guys that get arrested and go to
jail complaining about how they were innocent and got @$%d.
I personally have never been arrested for something I didn't do. :)
I'm kinda glad I'm no longer a moderator here...
Take this fella Beethoven, gets a temp 30 day rollover for trolling, then there is this other fella DMSCR
He receives three bans for this;
7 days
14 days
31 days
Then you look at his 183 posts,
over 70% carry the same theme and are in fact related, what are the odds in that? Anyway what was the deal, you mods not paying attention, asleep on your watch, good to think you missed the bus on that one, but never mind, there is another due.
Appears to be a bad case of constant trolling, the member seems to have a wendel fixatation, other than some mumbo jumbo about having the ability to see patterns inside patterns, plus the odd extravagant claim while enquiring how little can he bet. I notice some members have been nuked for far less.
Quote:I like that painting. Who is the artist?
Pieter Bruegel the Elder.
"The Triumph of Death."
Quote: 1BBHow about adding an extra column to the "hall of shame" list that shows who issued the suspension? Think of the fun that could be had if bets were placed on your favorite moderator. Who will win the "contest" at the end of the year? Bets could be made on the most suspensions, most days or even on which day of the week gets the most suspensions. You could even vote on who would give out the least suspensions. The possibilities are endless. Step right up and vote for your favorite moderator.

My question is why would you or anyone want to rate the mods? They all follow The Wizards standards and if they don't follow it, he addresses it. And if you don't like how they handle issues why not state it? No reason to put it out there without your name. If you are joking about this, sorry for busting on you. But if not, follow the rules Clearly posted or risk the wrath.
A clear evaluation shows most suspensions are valid and are either "new" posters or good long term posters who let emotion get the best of them. Either way it is always valid. JMO
