I can't keep up with it, even being unemployed with 4818 posts here.

Part of this problem is, the way the forum is currently programmed, it's the easiest to surf through the "recent thread list", imo.
The other main problem...threads that make people argue with each other get the most traffic. This isn't just a problem with just this forum though. Many people love a trainwreck. Hell, this thread is a trainwreck!!!

Nah, I was initially concerned with his effort to fill the place with trolls, sociopaths, and just possibly disturbed people by taking issue with nearly every suspension.
Whatever he is doing, or thinks he is doing, I really have no idea.
At any rate, I write shorter posts, so you shouldn't have to read as much.
Yes, I want a cookie. Not because I deserve a cookie for doing my job and checking on that Suspension in a timely fashion, but because I've had a sweet tooth all day and a double chocolate chip cookie with some Hershey's chocolate syrup on it would be just awesome.

In seriousness, though, while I forget who it was specifically...I do apologize for a recent ban in which the offender (2FATL?) was not UnSuspended at such time as was scheduled. I will personally try to be more thorough in checking the List from this point forward.
Fortunately, Kentry's current Suspension seems to be the only active one that is not a Nuke, so that should be easy to remember. And, no, 1BB, despite my sarcasm in an earlier post, I have no disdain for Kentry whatsoever. The parody was mostly just to indicate that certain posts he has had (not him, personally) come off as silly. He personally seems reasonably well-written.

Who is bothered? Am I bothered? I have a mouth that could make a prostitute blush, but the Rules are the Rules. A cop might be inclined to vote for the legalization of weed given the opportunity. You can block threads, for one thing.
The other thing that happened prior to the change in ownership was the creation of the other forum, where most of the chatter was supposed to go. In reality, most people wanted to stay here and talk about both gambling and other issues, like suspensions. Those discussions are now channeled to just a few active threads and I actually see MORE gambling-related threads on the top list than anything else at this point.
The currently popular "2016 Election" thread travels all over the place but the odds and other things are discussed regularly. The beauty of it is that you can completely ignore it if you want to very easily. Just scroll on by it and pay it no mind. The same goes for ANY thread you don't want to be involved in.
I like the mix because I have learned a lot here--I had no idea what AP even was (and no one gives away too much here, but it is a glimpse inside of it), I did not know the math of the games, I have sparred on issues with some smart people and learned some things, etc. I can ignore most DI-related threads because they all go in the same direction, but I read some of them.

You understand correctly, RS, and I can't be sure that my request is being honored or if the powers that be don't think that anyone has done the things that I describe. You'll have to ask the administrators and that answer would be most interesting, if you can get them to answer. It's not just about me, however, and that's what has to be understood. It is or should be about the good of the forum. Whenever someone takes a shot at me just for the sake of doing so, they make the entire forum look bad. When they hijack a thread time after time by adding nothing to the discussion, they make the forum look bad. I have asked over and over for them to at least make a comment on the subject at hand but they never do. They take their shot and slink away, in what I think is the height of selfishness.
Yes, I'm okay with being insulted because I don't believe that every minor misstep should end in suspension. Think of it as having a discussion with family or friends. Things are said and everyone moves on. It's called a spirited discussion. Nobody asks for it to recorded onto a list for eternity, especially on an in your face list like we have here. That's what makes the forum look bad.
Are bans and suspensions necessary? Of course they are but only for the worst offenses. Do suspensions quietly and don't celebrate them on a list for everyone to gawk at. This is the number one thread on the forum. Does anyone besides me find that a little odd? I find it sad.

I appreciate the effort tringlomane as I'm sure those who truly care about the forum do. It's obvious by rxwine's response to your post that even a respected member like yourself is not taken seriously.
Go back one page, read what Boz posted and tell me what you think his motives are. Neither has a word to say about the topic of the thread and would rather resort to hijacking, insults, baiting etc. In my opinion they have been given a very long leash.
Here's how it unfolds. Someone gets suspended. The usual crowd begins the baiting by posting things like what's 1BB going to do now. This is often done before I've even seen the suspension. If I choose to comment, the personal attacks begin in earnest.
Not once have I ever initiated any of it, not once have I attacked another member or spoken disparagingly about another member nor have I ever baited anyone. My posts bear that out.
What we have here is attempted censorship by the few who don't believe that people are entitled to their own opinions, the few who think that everyone should share their opinions. They use any sneaky underhanded methods that they can think of to accomplish their agendas.
I will continue to post in this or any thread that I choose. My opinions will not align with everyone's. I will not be silenced by those who continue to run roughshod over this forum, those who are allowed to run roughshod over the forum. These are people who care only about themselves and nothing else. They certainly don't care about this forum.
I have the option of not responding to these people but that's not always the best course of action. Since you have the time, I have a proposal for you or another trusted and respected member. I'll stop responding to these people if you'll monitor things and speak up when one of them pulls their childish shenanigans.
There is one last thing that I must comment on. I do not hate rxwine. I know you didn't mean it in the strictest sense of the word but I have to say it. I don't hate anyone here or anywhere. I hate homelessness, hunger and things of that nature but not people. Okay, I hate terrorists but they're not human. Hate only consumes the vessel that contains it.
Give my proposal some thought. Who knows, maybe the adults will be able to take back the forum someday.

Talk about the definition of baiting. I slunk (is that a word?) away, really? I didn't respond to your last suggestion to make a comment about the Kentry's suspension because I understood that we were both going to let things drop. But now I will answer you questions. Q: What do I think off Kentry's suspension? A: I don't care Q: Why do I think he hasn't been added to the suspension list? A: I don't care. Satisfied? Well, I'm not, because that added zero value to the forum, thus the reason I didn't post it the first time.

I definitely agree. The forum I'm a moderator on does it all in private and deletes the offending material. I feel things go smoother. We have a list here because Mike wanted offenders to feel shame. But it reality, it probably just angers them more and this thread just creates something to argue over.

The Unbanner would be me. I banned him, (and Exoter on his first 3 day, to mention the 2 most recent) and I made sure to unban him (them both) on time. I'm less good about checking on and unbanning other mod's bans, thinking they're going to do it, but was out of town and offline when 2F's time to return arrived. I had also decided to keep a closer eye on it after 2F, and appreciate the idea that we'll watch each other's backs for the good of the forum. :)

I don't know why he asked for intervention on being baited, but he did, so I assume that's a temporary moratorium as to not wanting an Admin to take action on his behalf. With that said, if he can essentially retract such wishes at any time, it's just as good as him never having said you can do whatever you want to him, so I would post to him as I would to any other Member.
Besides, they're the Forum's Rules, so while he can request that others not be Suspended for posts directed at him, he's certainly in no position to demand...and we are not absolutely compelled to comply.

I have always said no suspension and have not wavered. I reiterated that in the post you're referring to.
Remember, an offense against me is an offense against the entire forum. Insult away. It's okay with me and maybe it's good for the forum. Who wouldn't want to join and then have to worry about being insulted? Who wouldn't want to join after seeing how new members are treated. I wasn't aware of any initiation or hazing policy.

Regarding 1BB's postings, I don't think I've looked at a single one as an attack on me as a mod. I have often said I appreciate all criticism, as it's the only way I can improve. He's doing that; I can't really get mad about it. Sometimes he mentions something that I might can fix or at least explain. He has done so, and I have done so, at least as much as I could.
Sometimes he brings up stuff he's brought up before and that has already been explained, like the existence of this thread to begin with. He knows it's out of my hands, and most of our Green hands, but he talks about it anyways. That doesn't bother me. A lot of people talk about a lot of things I either can't do anything about or don't care about. Bring up horse racing and FinsRule is gonna pop up. Talk about dice setting and superrick will come out of hiding. I don't care about either; doesn't mean they can't do what they want with the topic.
Sure, sometimes it may feel like he's just stirring the pot. I'll admit, 1BB, that at least once you've posted something that made me roll my eyes so hard that I could see through walls for like an hour. But is that your problem, or is it mine? After all, the post required nothing from me as a mod, so... I was kind of free to back out and find something else that pleased me. Which I did. Because it's easy to do.
I guess I'm just posting as a check, so we don't make something bigger than it is.

As we know, the numbers don't tell the entire story. For example, when someone with a limited vocabulary posts the word "yawn" and nothing else, it counts the same as one of my thought provoking 500 word posts.
Do you think it would be interesting to do that with any other threads? I've got to get some rest now. Number 500 is just around the corner.

Wasn't too hard. A simple PHP script. Should I modify it for words instead of just posts? Might be a little harder as I would have to filter out quotes. 2016 election thread might be an interesting one.
Not suspension or list but discussion. By its very title, this thread was designed for a long and lengthy discussion. If after twenty posts no one bothered to say anything more, the word discussion probably would have to be eliminated from the thread title.
