Discussion about the Suspension List
As a kid I was a little bigger and a little stronger than most of my classmates and even some upperclassmen so I didn't experience bullying. I also played sports and that had to help. That doesn't mean I never took a beating but it wasn't bullying. On the few occasions that my friends and I witnessed bullying, we would tell the bully to knock it off. The word was" queer" back then, by the way, and the recipients of bullying were called Poindexters. I'm not sure where the name came from but these were the guys with the pocket protectors and the tape on their glasses. You know the type. I'm proud to say that I never bullied anyone, not that doing the right thing deserves an award or even recognition.
This brings me to the girls. Oh those girls! They could be nasty to each other in ways that I could never think of. Downright brutal they were. Why was that? Ladies? I've heard that it still happens. Some things never change or do they?
Some others don't.
And there we are.
I was going to bring that up because I have seen guys proudly describing themselves as that. It's up to the individual if they find something offensive. If someone is offended by something that's in the grey area, they can ask the poster to retract it and avoid calling them that again. We've known him as buzzpaff, Buzzard, aladyat42, dummy, honestjohn, Fredddead, charles and BuzzMe. How many did I leave out? Last evening our man returned under the name hyisgp and made six posts in quick succession from 7:19:22 to 7:25:14.
In the first post he requested that PITA be removed from next to his name on the suspension list. It actually sounded more like a demand to me. For those who aren't familiar, that's exactly what he was to Zuga and his staff. After showing this guy much more patience and kindness than most would, Zuga finally banned him. It is the only action that Zuga has ever taken against a member and I don't think he took it lightly. Regardless of any rules, this banned member is still allowed to post on DT. Why choose this forum and further disregard it's rules? Because he can? The next five posts were about the trials and tribulations of the extended Paff family.
The thread that he started, under Announcements, was closed before anyone could respond and that's too bad. One member was able to get through and post GTFO, a sentiment no doubt shared by many.
It gets better. The thread will be deleted after being up for 24 hours. Why 24 hours? "That should be enough time for everyone to read it" according to the administrator handling this latest violation. Can it get any better? The request/demand to remove PITA was granted. PITA no longer appears next to his name and hyisgp will not be entered into the suspension list. I don't know if Zuga was consulted before the fact, after the fact or at all about the change.
If the 24 hour window is adhered to so that we can all read what this banned member has to say, the thread will be deleted at around 7:40 this evening. I suggest that anyone wanting a record of this get to copying sooner rather than later.
The name I was referring to, mankind, has already disappeared in record time so my post doesn't make sense. He's on the list of members who have visited today, at least for now. I can't wait to hear from HHH. Don't give it away. Let him post at least once. Trump fans have value. :-)

Interesting...both the post "Mankind" made and the one that I made a comment about him in (with a quote) are gone. I didn't know that kind of stuff happened--deleting a post from a member in good standing along with ejected member.

I do that under certain circumstances. I can think of many socks that I insta-ban without hesitation, and I usually try to do so immediately upon them posting. If one or two upstanding members has replied to it, and said reply includes ONLY a response to the sock's post, I erase it all. It's certainly not to be taken offensively by the member in good standing, I'm just trying to rid all trace of the interruption.
If the responses pile up before I can get to it, or a good member replies to the sock while also including a reply to the thread in general, then it's usually too much work to excise the garbage and/or doing so messes up the flow in conversation too much to justify deleting it. In those cases, I just leave it all.

I've seen it before when a new person posting who is banned has one or two threads and several posts, and if you click on them you see no threads and only the post that you just clicked on their name from.
It wasn't the worst offense ever, but the suspension was issued and it seems that it meets the criteria of a personal insult.

Ploppy is an offensive word usually referring to dumb gamblers. I believe someone may have gotten in trouble for calling someone that.
If by saying, " ____ plays the part of _____ for attention only", is ok. We can all start using that to make Veiled insults and backhanded compliments.

The insult was directed at me, but I certainly did not complain about it. Just FYI.
The suspension was very quick. He made the post and then his name was red right away. Wizard must have been browsing the thread or something.

I think one like that is most likely to get you nailed if the admin happens to be reading the thread...I agree that looking for "borderline" violations would be mostly a waste of time reading crap like the DI/No DI threads (I participate in them, but not much is ever decided or proven...). The Wizard has contributed to that particular thread, so he likely pays some attention to it.
What shall we discuss, baiters and haters? The unblemished record of TwoFeathersATL, member in good standing since May 22, 2013? Concerns by some members of uneven enforcement of the rules? The constant and constantly ignored baiting of yours truly? The fact that a guy posts in Korean and gets banned for dropping a link while a guy drops two links in a blog and doesn't get banned? We still can't flag blogs. Is English the only language accepted here? The fact that a banned member returns under his umpteenth name, makes demands, gets them met and gets his posts left up for 24 hours so everyone has a chance to read them?
I'm on the road until tomorrow and finding it difficult to post. Please bear with me as I have someone at home assist me with today's posts.
TwoFeathersATL was suspended for posting "That's a pretty lame response, even for you". I believe he was okay until the "even for you". It was a harmless slip where he thought he was carefully attacking the writing and not the writer. Was it another "gotcha" moment? You decide. The writer, who handles himself quite well in that spirited thread, has told us that he didn't complain. I'm not going to put him on the spot by asking him if he was offended. It's another example of the written word versus the spoken word. If spoken it wouldn't have been given a second thought.
TwoFeathersATL is an acquired taste for me. He can be quirky and at times seems to talk in riddles. Like him or not, the man is one of the few here who doesn't have a mean bone in his body. That's why I called his suspension unfortunate. Was his suspension justified? You decide. Did it meet the letter of the law? You decide.
I am confident that TwoFeathersATL will take this like a man. He won't call an administrator at their private residence and cry like a baby while begging to have his suspension overturned. He'll serve it with his head held high and he'll serve it with no shame.
Is the forum better off because of this suspension? You decide.

After I posted I thought there may be a chance that you took it that way. I was sincerely hoping that you wouldn't and am so glad you asked. You are neither a baiter nor a hater. I think we all know who the baiters and haters are even though some pretend not to.
I trust you haven't forgotten your own suspension on 9-24-14. That was a puzzler. Seven days for a first "offense". You may recall that I had questions about that.
Not only does this thread exist, I believe it is still number one. How sad is that? As long as it does exist, I will continue to post as I see fit and one or two will continue to bait me as they see fit. They will do so without fear of repercussions.

As with most suspensions, and I don't want to sound like I don't appreciate those who went to bat for me when I took a bad rap, the only ones that really matter are the long and permanent ones. There are going to be close calls and some people may get uptight and out of sight about them, but most people will just move along and come back (or not) when their sentence is over. Most of us go on 3-7 day breaks from here anyway at times...so I just don't think it matters all that much or makes the forum better or worse.

I have been masking it where I've seen it from Exoter the past few weeks, but I've been off traveling a lot this month, and he's been here long enough to notice that most others mask their swears as requested, but has ignored that convention, as well as Rule 6, which he's had enough time to read. I've also received member complaints about the swearing. So I've given him a 3 day suspension for the collective offense.

Dear BABBs, an explanation even before someone asked for it. Good job! I am not being sarcastic here. Good job. Exoter arrived rather suddenly, attracted a lot of attention (both good and bad). I wish I could type or dictate that fast! But, in all honesty, I saw some lines being crossed by Exoter. I know you already posted at least once that you were watching the conversation(s) with your finger poised above the button/hammer. I also thought I noticed some other posters teetering on the edge (or beyond ) of becoming unacceptable behavior while carrying on discourse with Exoter. Time for the hammer? Yes, I say.
