Quote: RonCA "sh&* stirring accusation"? For asking for clemency for someone?
Where did 1BB "ask for clemency"? Nowhere. His post was not about neverfinished; it was about a guy (not a member at the time as 1BB claims; he was banned) who, in 1BB's opinion, "made an innocent mistake", and directed at criticizing forum administration, not interceding for neverfinished. As to the initial event, see Rule 3, pasted below for anyone's information that needs it (I doubt you do, RC). If 1BB knows it WAS an innocent mistake from having met the guy, this is the first he's bothered to mention it.

In deciding to take action in requesting reinstatement (prior to and independently of 1BB's comment), I assumed positive intent by neverfinished in sharing something fun, but still don't know that he wasn't a spammer trying to make a buck, hitting this forum among others, at the Wizard's expense and other members' annoyance, which happens several times a week and is the reason for the rule. The difference is that THIS guy seems to be reading the forum, and there's a possibility he'll be a worthwhile member. Or not. As I said, the next move is up to neverfinished.

Neverfinished.
Welcome back =)

Just awful.
Quote: 1BBI'd like to say hello to member neverfinished. He visits the forum often but he can't post because he was nuked on his first post. It was most likely another innocent mistake. He mentioned his T shirt business that had strategy charts printed on them. A capital offense if I ever saw one. No forgiveness and no second chance for him.

1BB made a statement that led me to believe he was hoping that some thought would be given to the nuking of someone that he stated had visited often. It doesn't seem unreasonable. Perhaps he could have requested clemency more directly. You folks granted clemency independent of that. I don't see where ANYONE should be upset--a possible good member who made a mistake gets a second chance.

I agree it wasn't unreasonable, which is why I did it. And probably why Mike agreed to let me. Had 1BB said something like, "Hey, I met this guy who'd been on this forum, made the mistake of posting a sales link to t-shirts he wanted to sell in his first post, but didn't realize he couldn't do it without permission/paying. He got banned for it, but he'd like to participate, not spam the forum.", I'd take that as an honest effort on nevermind's behalf, with probably the same result, but one that 1BB could take some credit for even after the fact. That's not what 1BB said by a long way, and since it would have been easy to say something as straightforward and positive as that and get a positive response, I take his actual posts on this as yet another shot.

I don't want to be banned nor would I like to be the cause of his banning again.
But I do like, and mostly wear T-shirts. If I'm asking, is it still considered spam?

As Babs pointed out, the rule is to prevent folks from using WoV and its resources purely for self promotion. It is allowed, however, permission must be received first.
Asking him and having him post without receiving said permission sort of toes that line, as he would then be self promoting, again without permission, after just being released for self promoting without permission. To keep everything copacetic, it would be best to ask him to ask for permission first. If he asks and he gets it, there's no problem whatsoever.
And your asking about it isn't spam in the least.

Why is someone who is trolling allowed to do so without warning? Someone gets suspended for calling a person a troll, the person doing the trolling is both over the post limit for a new member AND appears to be making posts that many consider trolling.

Nice catch! The saga of cheap dice continues!
How is Rule 14 enforced? Is it up to the "new" member to read and abide by the rules? Is "ignorance of the law" an accepted excuse? I think it should be in some cases but certainly not all. Does the burden fall on the administrators to keep track and inform said members when they have reached their posting limit? Is each offense treated separately (that would be one heck of a Martingale) or are they lumped together?
I went to DT to see if Buzzard has been posting and, lo and behold, his name is in red.

SF has been a member since 4/24. It is 4/26. His stats:
Threads Started: 3
Posts Made: 46
Blog Posts: None
https://wizardofvegas.com/member/seriouslyfunny/
His total allowable number of posts to date is either 13 or 36. That depends on whether it is meant to be a daily total of "10+days as a member" or "10 per day+days as a member". I believe it is the latter.
April 24th--11 (3 posts made)
April 25th--12 (40)
April 26th--13 (3)
A member in good standing was rightfully suspended, as was pointed out by the Wizard, for a personal insult. The fact that SF was way over the limit was pointed out at that time, but none of the mods has noticed or taken action yet. SF did seem to be doing what many called trolling; perhaps slowing him down a bit would let us find out whether he is a new member here to be part of the forum or just another short-term member headed to the nuclear kingdom. Right now, it seems he may be headed in the latter direction but maybe he has read for a long time and just needed to let some frustrations out...

Ah yes, the contentious plots and derisive posts.
306=2X153.
Now due to possible backlash from the forum members, the mods remain silent, so not to point fingers, thus causing a fellow mod catch heat.

Have you considered becoming a filibuster?
Car dealership have auto leases that the customers and even their CPAs have trouble understanding. This makes it hard for customers to compare their lease offers with competitors. Did you help in the design, structure and writing of these documents? :)
Quote: AxelWolfI'm going to guess our "new member" knew of this maximum post rule from the get go. At the beginning, they probably PM'ed a mod (perhaps BBB ) and ask that the post maximum be lifted. Someone thinking, what's the harm? The Request was probably granted.
Now due to possible backlash from the forum members, the mods remain silent so not to point fingers, thus causing a fellow mod catch heat.
It does seem that the mods are ignoring the fact that this poster has exceeded his maximum number of posts at this point. Why do I say that? I see that AT LEAST three mods have visited today and I would bet that many or more visited yesterday. The complaint against the new member SF have been placed in two threads that have been the topic of a lot of discussion--MonkeyFest and this one. A member is suspended for calling SF names; yet no warning, no restriction, zippo from the mods.
Perhaps someone is thinking that they missed it yesterday and will watch it moving forward...why not speak up. If it is the secret moderator (if there really is one; having one seems kind of silly but this is not my house), he could get one of the identified mods to issue the warning.
MaxPen goes to the penalty box; It appears that SF remains free and without warning at this point.

Hey, technically this is "Discussion about the Suspension List" not "Answers about the Suspension List"
Heh, joke.
Maybe with the resizing of the software for phone screens the post limit thing got axed or forgotten.
Speaking of which, Larry is awfully quiet over on GG.
I seem to remember a few people playing on the heart strings of the moderators because of special conditions and various reasons.Quote: RonCIt does seem that the mods are ignoring the fact that this poster has exceeded his maximum number of posts at this point. Didn't Even Bob have a second name here before or something? (that was before my time here I think)
A known sockpuppet (Neutrino) was allowed to return under a new name after being caught making multiple accounts, even after he obviously made up stories and lies Claiming a large Bovada hit on a progressive machine, one that never actually hit. Little did he know I was actually watching that progressive. Had he really hit the progressive, that meant it wasn't resetting. That's why I wanted to know the truth and how a internet lie could affect me.
In the true form of what an actual sockpuppet is, I believe he even possibility argued/ answered with himself under 2 different names. He was also a serial thread starter.

Prior to The Wizards announcement regarding B79's bet avoiding and possible nuke. Is it possible one of our Mods realized B79 couldn't ever return without being ridiculed. I'm wondering if since no official rule was broken a special pass was granted because someone felt sorry for him?
Because, IMO Seriouslyfunny IS B79. As already pointed out, It seems painfully obvious. If so, it turns out I wasn't joking about my gay joke comments and his possible man crush/ infatuation with AOS.
It's Kind of strange that seriouslyfunny happens to be in Vegas asking where to find a good gay bar. Is it a hint trying to entice AOS?
Was B79's high roller stories and monkeyfest all just a big ruse to catfish AOS?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Mods should start a new topic category called FICTION and move all B79's posts to it.

Ace should avoid any texts to meet in The Fruit Loop on Paradise.
But to many suspensions can lead to a Nuke. That number is unclear. I can understand when these posters get in the middle of other threads with some nonsense, but some of you also get in their threads and exchange challenges.
I'm not going to say you shouldn't do it, but you shouldn't be surprised when the monster hangs around, leaves the castle, makes a nuisance down with the townfolk.

Baccarat79, seriouslyfunny, and Monkey9Always are banned for being duplicate ID's, nuclear option. I note that the Wizard has given B79 a week of latitude while I was away, should he choose to come back on here; the dupeID's, for more than 48 hours while B79 could have signed on as himself (and more than a day after the Wiz said this, while "seriouslyfunny" posted later in the same thread), seems to me a clear indication that B79 has no interest or intention of further participation or explanation. However, B79 has my personal email address and can ask for that opportunity should he want it; participation beyond that posting will be discussed if and when B79 requests to return. That offer expires 1 week from the time the Wizard posted it.
