You could have interpreted it that way, but you took it as a compliment. Trying to guess if someone will be insulted..... too difficult!
If I say.... You are just like Obama.... Compliment or insult or neither?

I commented in that thread that no way EvenBob should have been suspended -- he analogized someone's behavior to that of a child - he did not call that person a child -- and, as I noted, Mission146, long ago, detailed that the use of analogies is NOT an insult -- I guess the rules have changed???

Quote: WizardSo in addition to all the other work we do, the moderators should pre-approve posts now? Nope. People here are expected to behave like adults and not need pre-approval for everything they say.

On several occasions have you not required a truece between members? Is that not a form of pre-approving what they can say? Your position seems pretty inconsistent.

I'm merely going by what Mission146 told me long ago
And, yes, we've already established that I'm not really a lawyer
I thought Bill was being sarcastic, I certainly hope so.Quote: WizardThis is not kindergarten. Full grown adults should know how to control what they say. Plenty of times, I've written out a length post that after reflection may have had too much venom in it, so I never clicked "post." A simple test would be to put yourself in the shoes of the one you're posting about and ask if you would feel insulted.
Can you school me in some proper grammar? I wouldn't know you can say "I've written out a length post." I would use the word long or lengthy.
Does Nathan get some suck-up points?

I.....I can’t even imagine what reading those posts would be like. Other than traumatizing, of course.
I Probably have to re-read everything that was said.Quote: BozIf I’m reading it correctly he is accusing someone from the meeting of selling him out to DG. And I am assuming that someone is a member here. While he shouldn’t have named someone without proof, or if he has it, he should dealt with it in private. It makes the forum look like it has backstabbers out to hurt other members, similar to the other recent situation.
There cannot be a rule for everything but I see at some point being a member of a forum is potentially bad for a person. It appears multiple people have met and tried to help ZK. Maybe that is the best path for him, if he wants to vent or even discuss issues, contact someone that he has their information.
And while he hasn’t made any specific threads, there has been plenty of “They are going to pay” and such that it has to make one wonder. As a business owner you always have to be thinking about liability and bad publicity. I would bet everyone has had concerns about his state of mind at times, it’s that obvious. The blowing off steam excuse doesn’t fly all the time.
As for a reason to justify it, I’m not going to start naming names that don’t need brought up, but I did put up a link up earlier to nuke without a specific rule.
The most important thing to me is the guys wellbeing, believe it or not. I hope I am totally wrong on this guy.
I agree ZK should not make unfounded conspiracy accusations like this, especially when one is "invited" to an event.
Personally, I just disregard/ignore most of his conspiracy crap. I didn't take what he said serious.its just ZK being ZK. I have Dealt with people far more difficult than him.
Since I have meet ZK Im biased in his favor, he's always been mostly normal, nice and likeable in Person. It seems like his brain is always working overtime. I guess that's where the paranoia comes from. But other than his online tangents I have yet to find anything he's said to be untruthful or crazy, nor has he ever been anything but a cool cat in Person.
Whomever tossed out that Mandalay Bay comment, I will have to say, that's totally uncalled for.

I didn't mean it as an insult. I have added two very important words to my post to make it clearer what I meant. ;)

I think we are on the same page for the most part. The difference is you have actually met him and have a more informed determination than I do, just seeing him from posts here.
That said, someone probably should have a talk with him about the right and wrong places to vent. We all need it at times but if one does not see the B side, and only what is posted here, I can see where the concerns come from. While he has refused all advice on other opportunities, again from a distance, perhaps someone can be a mentor to him not just on here, but on life in general. But it takes 2 and maybe he is happy doing it on his own.
But he also has to understand where others are coming from in reading his posts. And I believe the MB comment came from a casino employee who has potential legitimate concerns based on his comments toward casinos. You read everyday at airports to “See something, say something “, it’s not unreasonable for one to at least be aware of his comments.
As Poker Grinder once said, we are all rooting for him, but damn, he makes it hard at times.
Instead of martingale for multiple suspensions, the 3rd suspension within a year will net you the task of studying the Wizard's entire license plate collection in order to answer any 10 questions he asks 1 time every month, with a 15 minute time limit until you can get all 10 right.
That should put some fear into more than a few people.
You don't think that has been tried?Quote: Boz

Quote: AxelWolfYou don't think that has been tried?
So does this help or hurt my opinion?
If you and others have tried with no tangible results, I’m not sure how you can expect others to not be concerned based on his posts.
And I say this with a bias toward knowing the good many do on here under the radar.
They both got screwed for the same three days.

I disagree. BBB, Wiz, Axel, terapined, Doc, djatc, rdw4potus, odious.... all seem like they mirror their on line personna in person.

Yeah, I think it can depend on the person, though, too....
I had a friend that, when he was online, almost everything that came out of his mouth was what I felt to be some very ignorant, and borderline hateful, very right-wing comments.
But in real life he was super-chill and a super nice guy who would give you the shirt off his back, and I even lived with him for like a year and politics NEVER came up and we always got along.
I feel like I'm pretty much the same online as in real life, but it's strange that so many people have very different personas when you put a computer in front of them.

Keyboard warriors.
I've run into several people who will say very nasty things in an email, and then do a full 180 if you call them up or talk to them in person.
Quote: beachbumbabsIn my experience it runs about 80/20 here, 80% pretty close in person to their persona here, 20% substantially different. Most of those different are much chiller in person than on here.
Those are called internet muscles. People who are obnoxious on here and not in real life are really obnoxious people that put on a front in real life because they are cowards.
I like to think that I am 100% the same in real life but who knows maybe not.

I would put it about 80/20 too. Without naming names, many of the real loud-mouths on the forum are very soft spoken and shy in person.
I'm much more awesome in real life (-;Quote: SOOPOOI disagree. BBB, Wiz, Axel, terapined, Doc, djatc, rdw4potus, odious.... all seem like they mirror their on line personna in person.
If you are the type of person who is very easily offended, overly sensitive, cant take a joke or are way too serious, there's a chance we won't be friends, to say the least. If someone gets upset I will try to figure out what went wrong and smooth things over. If it can't be smoothed over, that's alright, because I don't really want to be friends with people like that. At that point, I can usually be cordial and even do business or whatever, if need be. If you are a miserable person who seems to hate life we probably won't get along very well. I don't think I'm alone when I say that.
I can usually find something in common and get along with most people. I have rarely ever found my self in a situation where I couldn't have a conversation, hang out and get along with someone of all ages, sex, races, and backgrounds.
I get that everyone is different, some people are very different from the "normal", even crazy at times. That doesn't bother me, I don't care as long as I think you are a good person. I try to adapt and learn how to interact with different people differently, but still be myself.
There are only a few people from the forums that I don't think I would ever want to have anything to do with, see again or meet.

Im guessing AP book writers fall into that category
What do you think the real reason was that I didn't attend the Spring Fling this year? (-;Quote: darkozIm guessing AP book writers fall into that category
If you go way back when, I did, in fact, tell you that I did not want to do BUSINESS with anyone whose goal was to write an AP book. I think the further on you get in your AP adventures you will understand why. For me and many others, the worst thing that ever happened to AP was the internet(books suck as well but not as much since you have to go out of your way to read them). It's ushered in an influx of weekend warriors, new AP's, Darksiders and it's helped educated casinos and AP newbs.
I get the feeling that when you first got into AP stuff you were thinking it wouldn't be a sustainable gig and when things dried up and you were done, you would write about it. Hopefully, you have a somewhat of a different outlook on things and now and realize there's always somthing new to learn and things to do.
I would love to meet you sometime, I have a feeling at some point we might even do something AP related.
p.s. Per some of your posts regarding AP, I'm not too worried about your book writing anymore (-;

What you do not get is that most "right wing" people are super-chill, nice people who will if not give you the shirt off their back at least be more than willing to help a person out.

Its not a political thing
Some right wing people are superchill
Some left wing people are superchill
Some independents are superchill
Hell even some foreigners are superchill
And some of all those groups are not

Quote: NathanOn another website, a guy admitted his online persona and his real life persona were total opposites. He said something like online he was chatty and outgoing, but in real life he was reserved and preferred to be left alone and people thought he was cold and anti social.
Sure. I know many people like that

I guess it's the whole anonymity thing that makes him outgoing and chatty online but reserved and a loner in real life.

It really puts your claim to be a woman in serious doubt for me. Your body of work is much closer to how a guy who doesn't understand women would pretend to be one, on a forum like this that's mostly men. Since it's a gambling site, I give 9:1 odds.
Is it just me, or is this very close to if not a personal insult?

On a serious note, I think if Nathan wants to be taken seriously (highly unlikely) she could figure out a way to prove her gender to a moderator. Of course he/she doesn't have to, but it would go a long way to provide some credibility.

I think drivers license would be a good way. I think for the purpose of the bet it should be either what gender were you born, or if a full sex change was done. None of that crap where you want to be a woman so you say you are.

Since she is apparently on the east coast, I would be willing to meet Nathan and report my opinion of her gender based on a casual conversation. If that is worth anything.

I think a former member did meet her, after expecting a guy. In fact I think he is now infatuated with her and continues to come here to discuss her.
Of course his credibility is long gone.
