I assume it was an intentional change to make the recent threads page change so it's purely ordered by thread update date, and not list all the unread threads by user a first?

Still hoping for an ignore thread/forum feature :)

I also assume the much more active moderation by JB is something that's a policy change.

[ I think closing threads, removing comments (even if by the moderator himself) and banning users by fiat is a step change in the way the board has been run in the past. I'm not sure it's for the better, did I miss an announcement? ]

There haven't been any policy changes; I've just been hiding less lately (perhaps to my own detriment).

I did alter the Recent Threads display in part due to many questions of "Why did you delete my thread?" about threads that were not actually deleted (they just fell below all of the threads with unread posts), and in part because it's a little less of a strain on the database the way it works now.

I noticed that too, and I assume it was done for the reason specified.

I didn't bother to complain because, quite frankly, I'm not sure if I dislike the way it works now.

For the record, I used to think that the best solution would be to automatically mark all threads as read for new members.

But I think that once I get used to it, I'll like the current method better, and come around to realize that it's better for new members too.

I'll tell you what I WON'T get used to, VIPs like JB being able to put images and/or formatting codes in their signature line, and the rest of us can't. :(
