I am able to make the post in three separate pieces. It doesn't have to do with what thread it is posted it, same error if I try in this thread.

Perhaps try taking all three pieces of my post (edit/copy), pasting them into one and posting them at once. If you too get the server error, then try eliminating bits until the post is sustained without error. That might solve what is triggering the block.

Getting this error when trying to send a PM just now. It has to do I assume with that there is a URL in the PM, when I remove the URL the PM goes through.

I got the error again today when I tried to send a PM. It definitely has to do with when there is a URL in the PM.
I tried putting spaces in the URL - same error.
When I removed entirely the
https://
portion of the URL, and made it (for example)

the PM did go through.

It depends on the day.
About 2600 over the last 3 years or so, but it's not evenly distributed, and I don't have a green/blue breakdown.
I believe there was a database cleanup at some point, so I expect to be missing some legacy metadata.
edit: about 2600 in, about 2800 sent.

I think of the PM system here as the shadow forum -the shadow realm of the WOV forum. Things are said there that wouldn't be said in public. People ask for and get explanations of what is happening on the public posts. Business gets transacted - or at least it gets started and usually switches to email systems that are external to WOV.
I have about 1,975 PMs in and have sent about 1,050 PMs out.
Of course, I'm a moderator so that inflates my numbers - talking to Dieter and Wiz and members who want their enemies to be disemboweled and then hung. But even in my pre-moderator days my PMs had some interesting transactions on them.
