I reported it to my web host. Here's their reply:
Quote:After an in depth review of your site, I was unable to find any malicious code or anything that could cause your site to come up as infected.
You can see one of the scans I did by visiting http://www.UnmaskParasites.com/security-report/?page=www.reverenddavemiller.com
Sometimes we notice that Mcafee or Norton will give false warnings for the visitors, on their computer because of maybe a word the software didn't like. We even see that visitors who get these warnings have an infection on their computer like a Virus or Malware that is trying to redirect them to a malicious site when they try to view any page and it was just chance that it was your site and not google.com.
Fortunately, it doesn't look like a problem with your site or the server in this case.
Quote: WizardThanks. For what it is worth, this happened shortly after I went to your site (because you linked to it in the wedding thread). This also happened on my home computer, which my wife once infected with a very insidious virus a couple years ago. I spent all day trying to remove it. Despite my best efforts, I'm still not sure it is 100% clean.
Any one who uses McAfee or Norton anti virus, you will always have problems and get viruses.
Virus programmers target those big software names.
I threw those away and you should do the same if you have and use them.
I always had problems in the past and after 2 different computer techs told me to get rid of them and use AVG or Avira along with Spybot - Search & Destroy, all available in a FREE download, I have had 0... ZERO problems the past 2 years.
The free softwares caught Trojans and malware EVEN AFTER the two big names said "all is OK! NO problems found" but I still had problems!
Spybot - Search & Destroy takes longer to do its thing, but well worth it. And the website offers usable help, not the bulls**t Norton or McF does with phone call after phone call.
Spybot - Search & Destroy even does a better job than does Microsoft's Malicious Removal Tool does.
Take back control of your computer from those BIG name anti-virus software companies that only care about making BIG $$$. Use better software that is free and delivers on it's promises.
S W E L L ! ! !Quote: WizardFor what it is worth, this happened shortly after I went to your site....
I'll talk to my host again.
Then again, are you using McAffe or Norton? Particularly since 7winner confirmed what my webhost said, maybe its the anti-virus software.
But I agree, it's gotta be more than a coincedence...
I went on my website, bounced around for a few pages, then got it.
The only way around it was to quit Internet Explorer and restart.
Then I got it again, but on a different page.
This is at my day job. I have no idea WHAT anti-virus software we are using.
Mac or PC?Quote: Croupier...Im using Firefox as my browser...
I NEVER have this sort of thing happen on my Mac.
I HAVE seen it once before, a few months ago, on my PC at work...
By the way, thanks for all the reports. My web host is stumped...

I have Norton on the computer in question, but I think my protection has expired. I think I was saved either by expired Norton protection or Microsoft.
Or, more precicely, my web host. Here's their response to my followup:
Sorry for any trouble or worries this may have caused you.Quote:Thank you for the follow up.
After further review from Internet Explorer, I was able to see that your site is hacked.
It seems the hackers have an .htaccess modification in your site that is redirecting your visitors to their download/hack site.
Recently, we have seen a rash FTP hacks that have compromised many of our customers' accounts. We have put measures in place to combat this which (among other things) automatically reset the passwords of accounts that are at risk. It would seem yours is one of those. In many cases this has been the result of a vulnerability in Adobe's software, and we have sent you an email separately that includes your new account password as well as links to articles containing more information.
Here's their response:
Quote:It does mean that whoever has visited your site on Internet Explorer has gotten this warning. Other safer browsers like Firefox don't allow this redirection to take place at all even if the code is there.
Additionally, it very well may effect them, however, it's impossible to know on our end and is outside of our bounds of support. You may want to notify them to update their software and scan their computers like I suggested to you.

by all means get free virus protection! I use Avast and have no complaints. And, geez, quit using IE!
edit: this gives you the options with Avast, including the free version, which I like just fine.

Quote: WizardThanks, mystery solved. I should quit using IE.
While I have many browsers installed for testing purposes, my default browser is Iron, which is a fork of Google Chrome without the aspects of Chrome that phone home to Google (for example, it does not connect to Google to obtain suggestions for the URL you are typing as you type it).

Who is your web host? if you do not mind me asking.
I used IPower in the past and they were constantly hacked about issues like you had.
I moved over to GoDaddy, and they seem to not have people hack their systems as do the smaller guys. But then you have to put up with the good and bad about GoDaddy.
there are more secure ways than using .htaccess if you use an Apatche server and you should look into that. Or change your password frequently, like as often as you change your underwear should suffice!
Not at all.Quote: 7crapsWho is your web host? if you do not mind me asking.
Currently, I use InMotionHosting.com
Before that, I used ItsAMac.com. I forget exactly why I left them.
Before that, I used Elro.net. They are a local company that had a lot of big name clients. They blamed a lot of the problems I had on the fact that I use a Mac.
