But fear not. Most active members visit both forums, so the post will be seen.
Note there is a tendency to visit this forum more often.
Chances are that if it is appropriate for DT it is inappropriate here, though it may get more viewers here.Quote: GreasyjohnCould someone tell me, is it okay to post at DT a post you have made on this site?
That shooting in Las Vegas could have taken place anywhere and most of the responses have nothing to do with being unique to Las Vegas, so if I were a Green Inker, I'd nuke everyone involved in it.
In short, keep the Vegas site related to Gambling and to Las Vegas. A shooting in Walmart is for DT, a shooting in a casino is for Vegas.

Quote: SGITApologies in advance for my ignorance, but what does DT refer to?
DT = Dead Thread
It is where threads go to die slow, painful deaths. I get the point of it--the Wizard has given us a place to post things that are off-topic here but, in reality, they don't get nearly as much traction there as they did here.
If your topic is worthy of discussion, I wouldn't think starting a thread with it over there would be a bad thing. All three people who frequent DT will likely comment!!!
DT is the current home of EvenBob, who won't post over here at this point for some reason.

That shooting took place in Vegas; it is kind of hard to say it wasn't related to Vegas. It may not have been related to gambling, but then you could also say that shows and restaurants have little to do with gambling, too.

I'd hardly call it dead. There are several threads with several hundred posts that have lived and continue to live on for over a year.
WoV is like a convention center. A mob of people all here under a common banner, each thread like a separate booth of discussion.
DT is like a coffee shop. It's small group of people in comfy recliners jabbering away at whatever is interesting to them at that point.
If you want a mass of responses from all viewpoints, WoV is the place to go. But if you want something a little more intimate, a little more freestyle, hop on over to DT.

I was (sort of) kidding...I do post there...

EB has more posts here than there have been posts in DT's history (though it is not a long history)...

I post anything Vegas related here usually. Since other people are still starting non-gambling and non-Vegas related threads in this forum, I figure I'm not pushing it by comparison.

It's hard to look at those figures without a WoV comparison. So here:

First off, WoV has been around a lot longer, and has a more focused agenda. As such, it will by default attract more people and get more posts.
That said, DT has 4% of the posts that WoV has, and 4% of the threads. I think 4% is good, considering other factors.
While WoV has many more members than DT, 65% of DT's members are active, while 60% of WoV's members are active. I'm not sure what that says, but there is is.
On the other hand, I'd like to know what constitutes an "active" member.
I'm not sure what all these numbers mean, but I felt they needed to be pointed out.

I am "active" on both forums I believe...
I did mention in my post that the history of DT is not very long.
Lest anyone think that everyone just wants to discuss gambling and Vegas here, let's look at the five threads with the most posts on this site.
One is clearly about gambling (the chips)
One had some gambling in it along with a whole host of other stuff; much of it more fit for a soap opera than either DT or WofV. Without the drama, it would not likely be in the top five and it could we be replaced by a gambling thread if it was pushed out.
The Spanish Word of the Day? Obamacare? Discussion about the Suspension List? None of them are really gambling (or Vegas) related though I am sure gambling and/or Vegas is mentioned in some of them.

Fun fact: at the time of your writing, EvenBob had posted 4.04% of WOV's posts! And he hasn't even been here for a couple months!
