Traffic at California-Nevada border rebounds since COVID-19 began

This Week in Gambling: NFL sports betting and gambling deals

Just over two years ago, NFL sports betting was villainized by the league. However, once the U.S. Supreme Court cleared the way to legalize the activity in 2018, several states were rushing to regulate and profit from the activity. Now, professional football teams are partnering with gambling operators and creating some interesting NFL sports betting opportunities.

Can you believe that there are NFL sports betting partnerships? After all, it was just a few years ago the League canceled Tony Romo's fantasy football convention at a Nevada casino due to their strict policy against gambling. However, many professional football teams are now taking the plunge on NFL sports betting, and the league itself is loosening its gambling policies.

The Raiders' are in Las Vegas and have a spiffy new stadium just off The Strip. NFL teams are now making sports betting deals with gambling operators. But, the new gambling partnerships won't exactly make up for years of prohibition, or pull in enough of the lost revenue Las Vegas is missing due to the pandemic. Still, just six years after canceling a fantasy football camp... and less than three years from a Supreme Court decision... the NFL sports betting relationship is blossoming in 2020.

Detroit casinos report $101.4 million in October revenue
Michigan (results) - CDC Gaming Reports - The three Detroit casinos reported $101.4 million in aggregate revenue in October while continuing to operate at 15 percent capacity due to COVID-19 health concerns. Table games and slots generated $93.8 million in revenue, and retail sports betting produced $7.6 million in revenue. Monthly revenue was up by 6.7 percent compared with September results. Indiana Sports Betting Still Hitting Records Despite Illinois

Another week of depressing online gambling news from the U.K., as even more proposed restrictions are being proposed. And this time, those restrictions could legitimately destroy our industry in that market.

This Week in Gambling: The WSOP Main Event is set for December

The World Series of Poker will not let coronavirus win. They have scheduled the 2020 WSOP Main Event, and this year's tourney will be different than any in history. We also have sports betting news and a Las Vegas casino reopening and grand opening.

Yes, there will be a 2020 WSOP Main Event. To pull it off the Main Event will be played as an online-live hybrid both domestically and internationally. The $10,000 tourney will take place on WSOP website for players in either New Jersey or Nevada and play down to a final table of nine. GGPoker will play host to international players and also play down to a final table of nine. Each site will offer a separate tournament with the exact same structure.

The final tables of each tournament will then play out live. The 2020 World Series of Poker Main will play to a winner at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on Monday, 28 December, while GGPoker finalists will play to a winner at King's Casino in the Czech Republic on Tuesday, 15 December. The winner of each tournament will then battle it out in a special Heads-Up Finale with the victor taking home an added $1,000,000, a bracelet (the only one to be awarded), and the title of 2020 WSOP Main Event champ. That match will take place at the Rio on Wednesday, 30 December.

Illinois to shut down casinos, VLT locations on Friday

Baton Rouge riverboats post modest revenue drop

Nevada gaming revenues decline ‘only’ 19.5% in October
Nevada (results) - Howard Stutz, CDC Gaming Reports - Nevada’s gaming revenues declined 19.5% in October…casinos collected almost $822.7 million from customers during the month, which compared with more than $1.02 billion in October 2019… Casinos throughout Washoe County grew gaming revenues collectively 6.12%, including a 6% increase in Reno, a 22% surge in North Lake Tahoe, and a 10.9% jump in the South Lake Tahoe market…table game revenue was the best figure since casinos reopened in June with $256.8 million, down just 20.4%...The Las Vegas Strip saw revenues dip 30.2% in October…Downtown gaming revenues were down 22.7%, and the Boulder Strip was down 25%. https://bit.ly/2J5wt8l

Atlantic City casino earnings fall 37% amid pandemic limits
New Jersey (results) - Wayne Parry, Associated Press - – Atlantic City’s casinos saw their collective profits fall by more than 37% in the third quarter of this year as they reopened with capacity limits and costly measures designed to stem the coronavirus pandemic. Each of the nine casinos still reported a gross operating profit. The casinos collectively earned $150.5 million, down from $239.6 million. TSA screens nearly 4 million people in weekend prior to Thanksgiving

The last time that happened over a four-day period was from March 14-17.
