It's about as fair as real world dice rolling gets.
Quote: GialmereIf you don't like players just dropping dice onto a game board, you might consider getting a dice tower...
Thanks! Good suggestions. I should get my son one, he is always rolling dice off the table.
yell at him like he's the shooter and you're the craps stick man :)Quote: WizardThanks! Good suggestions. I should get my son one, he is always rolling dice off the table.
You may have ignored this thread as it got hijacked in several directions
However, it was interesting to me that he got a lot of conflicting advice, and I would say the advice was largely *not* coming from the usual assortment that includes the dubious. Instead most posters were clearly smart people, yet the advice conflicted pretty badly. I think this is partly legitimate dissension in that there is a genuine conflict. Best advice seems to be playing it so that you have low chances of a big hit and high chances of merely getting your money back. This vis a vis deploying a scheme where you play it with no chance of hitting big but have a better chance of getting at least some value out of it. When you merely get your money back going for the big hit it feels a lot like failure [not to mention you have to deal with getting your money back, often made difficult ]
I feel that generally we have not heard much from you on this over the years and wouldn't mind hearing more - I think the most you have said about it at WoO has been in connection with promotional chips.
Quote: odiousgambitRecently there was a thread about a "Risk Free 1st Sports Bet" in which the OP wanted to know how to best handle an offer to "Download the Borgata Sports app ... and if your bet loses, get a refund up to $250 in cash back".
I would bet a big long shot on the money line. Another idea, if they allow it, would be a long parlay ticket.
Quote: WizardSince I think a lot of people watch the replays, but few show up in the chat room, I'm going to take questions in advance. Feel free to leave them to me here. Questions for Heather on dealing stuff is fine too.
Dear Wizard, would you comment on Edward Thorp and Claude Shannon's attempt on preducting roulette outcomes with the allegedly first wearable computer in the early sixties? I assume that they had a sound solid mathematic theory, didn't they? Can that be done?
Regards from Argentina (I will be in Vegas next week though :-) )
thank you, but how about going into detail as to 'why' on your next u-tube AMA [or ask-the-W]. I feel like it is hard to convince many reasonable people this is the way to go.Quote: WizardI would bet a big long shot on the money line. Another idea, if they allow it, would be a long parlay ticket.

I'd like to see an entire show on sports betting. Now that it's legal and quickly spreading, most people will have easier access to it than casino games and many of them will be considering such wagers for the first time in their lives. Subjects could range from simple office pool plays to Grand Salami betting. It's a BIG topic though. In fact, since each sport has some unique wagers, you might consider having a "sports corner" segment on the show where you can examine one are two types of bets at a time and discuss the math for them.
Adding a few 5-10 minute segments (not necessarily on sports) would also give the show some structure. The "ask me anything" format (which could still be the lion's share of the show) moves chaotically all over the map.

Thanks for the suggestions.
With such a small audience, it's hard to have a specific topic. People ask questions on other topics, and we're kind of forced to take them, for lack of on-topic questions.
I am thinking of bringing to the show topics I want to address, like my parking ticket the last time, so I'm not entirely audience dependent. At this point, I'm still feeling out what works.
Maybe polling the potential audience here and at WoO would be helpful if a time change is possible.
Is it possible to do “live remote” broadcasts? I’ve enjoyed your pieces talking to folks at the McDonald’s during the Nugget challenges. It would also provide visual interest since you could leverage Las Vegas as your backdrop instead of Heather’s “studio”.
One unsolicited suggestion for improvement is to turn off, or move the colored light projector behind you. I find it irritating.
- What's it like raising kids in Las Vegas? Do you find that they are curious about the going ons in the casinos, or is it old hat to them?
- What's each of your take on the nuclear waste being shipped to Yucca Mountain? I mean, if not there, where should it be stored?
- The genie from Aladdin agrees to grant you one wish (usually wish restrictions apply), what will it be?
- Are there defined signs that a patron has been over-served to point you need to cut off their play? If so, what are they? Without naming names, have you ever received push back from management for cutting off a player?
Quote: AyecarumbaIs there a live stream today?
Nope. Going to be next week.
Quote: WizardSince I think a lot of people watch the replays, but few show up in the chat room, I'm going to take questions in advance.
Admittedly, I have watched all on replay.
Finally, I'm doing Heather's 2:00 show as well.
Getting back to "other things to do in Vegas", I enjoy seeing oddities and strange locals (such as the Winchester Mystery House). Would a trip out to the unofficial pet cemetery near Boulder be worth the drive for tourists like myself?
To atone for your airport parking exploitation, consider buying that Hard Rock t-shirt and wearing it during a future WOV livestream. Then call it even.
I found your “Limitless” answer a surprise. I don’ t recall how it worked out for Bradley Cooper’s character in the end.

You're welcome! Happy to take more. Contrary to what I said yesterday, the next LiveStream will be July 18.
What would your jeanie's wish have been? I would take the "limitless" ability without the side effects. And it did work out for him anyway, as he used to take the pill in the right dosage.

I was just thinking that being made of liquid metal, like in Terminator 2 and 3, would be cool. I'd be a vigilante fighting crime.

what time point was that?

*Mike evidently missed the discussion about dna testing at DT or would have mentioned it
*how is it possible that ashkenazi is spelled ashke-nazi?
*you can't tell me Heather doesn't have a thing for the Wizard
*I am all for shooting zombies, but is wanting to kill them a healthy thing? I have always been bothered by that.
*I was surprised Michael had duck and cover nuclear war drills as a kid, I thought those got dropped everywhere by the time he came along
*I think my question, offered ahead of time in this thread, was a victim of TLDR-itis

I recall having them at Weaver elementary school through 6th grade, which would have been 1976. We didn't have very many, especially compared to earthquake drills. I also recall in high school having one, and that was the early 80's.
I lived close to the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Base, not to mention Los Angeles, so figured I would be one of the fortunate ones to be killed immediately in the event of a full blown nuclear war.

Save it for next time.

In anticipation of next week's Live Stream having an "Ask Me Anything" segment:
- Eldorado's recently announced merger with Caesars will probably result in layoffs. If there's a strike, would you cross the picket line for a really juicy promo?
- Two players, call them Heather and Mike, are playing a game. They each put in $5 and decide that the winner of the pool will be decided by a best of 5 coin toss. Heather takes heads and Mike takes tails. After three flips, Mike is ahead 2-1 when an earthquake hits, interrupting the game. Due to post-quake conditions, the game can't continue. Mike proposes that he be declared the winner since he was ahead when the game was interrupted, but naturally, Heather objects. Mike counters with an offer of a 2-1 split. Should Heather accept the offer? If not, what is a fair offer?
- If I'm playing craps, and an earthquake hits just as the dice are settling on a winning point, changing it to a losing seven, will I still get paid?
you sometimes mention being behind the scenes helping out APs who have discovered glitches at casino games and need help maximizing
how often does this happen? does it take up a lot of your time? is it profitable enough to mention?

Can you give me an example? Feel free to PM if you think I might not want it mentioned in public.
If there was a Las Vegas time machine, what year would you take it to, and what place or event would you want to see?
What's the status of your attendance at Burning Man 2019?
Edit: At the start of the Vegas Aces stream, Heather says she was having technical difficulties. It must have carried over to the woo stream.
C'est la vie.

As always an interview with “Nathan” is internet Gold. Huge potential in so many areas on the net if you can get her to sign away any rights she has. Shouldn’t be hard, a few bus passes and $10 in FP could be worth hundreds of thousands to you. Or millions with the right reality series based on her life.
Never ever underestimate the stupidity of the American viewing public.
