* Investors in Red Rock Resorts lack the necessary information to know if they lost a business opportunity to Fertitta Capital, the investment firm founded in 2017 and run by Red Rock Resorts controlling owners, according to letters sent by the Culinary Union to the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) and NASDAQ Stock Market.

7. Wynn Resorts has to fulfill to run Encore Boston Harbor.

* The whopping $35 million fine against Wynn Resorts was only one of several requirements the company must meet to retain its casino license. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission outlines several conditions in its suitability report, released Tuesday night, that Wynn Resorts must adhere to if it wants to run Encore Boston Harbor, which is slated to open June 23.

6. Illinois: Latest pitch for Rockford casino involves getting support from Chicago, legislators.
* The latest pitch to bring a casino in Rockford came this week with city and business leaders taking out newspaper ads asking Chicago’s mayor-elect and Gov. J.B. Pritzker to support a casino in the Forest City.

5. House Committee Opposes Senate-Passed Bill for N.H. Casinos.
* A House Committee has voted overwhelmingly to reject a Senate-backed plan to allow casino gambling in New Hampshire. The House has always opposed what gambling backers like to call expanded gaming, and Tuesday’s 17-2 vote by the Ways and Means Committee indicates that’s not likely to change this year.


Lure of the ‘loot box’ looks a lot like gambling.
* An increasingly popular feature of modern video games is attracting gamers who share the beliefs and behaviours of problem gamblers, new UBC research has found. Gamers who are drawn to “loot boxes”–randomly generated prizes of undisclosed value that can be attained or purchased within a game–bear a closer resemblance to problem gamblers than they do to problem gamers, according to the study published April 16 in Addictive Behaviors.

Macau’s casino market suffers largest revenue decline in almost three years during April.
* Macau’s casino industry suffered its largest gaming revenue decline in almost three years during April, falling 8.3 percent from a year ago. Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said the market produced $2.92 billion in gaming revenue in April, its weakest month this year and the third decline in the last four months. The percentage decrease was the sharpest since June 2016.

21. NBC to present Kentucky Derby online betting show.
* The American television network is adding an online betting program that will appear on its website,, and its app.
After seven states have already legalized gambling, NBC Sports has added the 30-minute show, NBC Sports Bet: Derby Special on Saturday as a digital companion to its regular TV coverage.

18. Vegas city officials approve marijuana consumption lounges.
(Las Vegas) Legal marijuana smokers will soon be able to find lounges where they can light up in Las Vegas – but not in casinos, or in places serving alcohol, or on the resort-lined Las Vegas Strip. The City Council on Wednesday approved allowing what proponents dubbed “social use venues” where people can consume marijuana in the urban core of Nevada’s sprawling casino playground.

* Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has been fined $25,000 (£19,140/€22,300) by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) for breaching geolocation rules in the US state.

13. Caesars’ losses widen despite revenue growth in Q1.
* US casino giant Caesars Entertainment has reported a 7.6% increse in revenue for the first quarter of 2019, though finance-related costs saw the operator's loss for the period increase to $218m (£166.0m/€193.5m).

* Paddy Power Betfair has reported a 17% year-on-year increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2019, with strong growth in its US and Australian operations offsetting a decline in online sports betting revenue.
