Hi WoV'ers,

I would also love a toolbox change that asks you to confirm intent if you are flagging something; no idea what that would take programming-wise, though.

So per B's suggestion and to avoid any future issues, when ever you flag a post you will get a confirmation window:

"All it takes for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing "

Previously, the "Flag" button would display for my account, but grayed as to indicate disabled. I would use it, but didn't know if action was recorded. Now the button doesn't appear at all. I would help if you let me, but I'm fine with it if you don't want help.

GOOD IDEA!

I used to wish for that feature when I used to be a moderator. Too damn easy to delete posts or threads by accident. Particularly when using a small device like a smart phone. I do think I deleted a couple by mistake.

Even so, I do think it's a good idea even for not moderators.

Now that I think of it, can that dialog box include a message about what flagging does? I.E. Something like: "Based upon your membership status, your Flag action is xx% of the required total needed to delete this post/thread."

Zuga, you should make a moderator-only forum, and whenever a post gets deleted (by admin) or flagged off (deleted by community), instead of it being deleted, it should be auto-sent to the moderator-only forum....a trash-can if you will.

Interesting idea but i fail to see how it would benefit the Mods ? i think it would just create additional work as such posts would have to be deleted from that Mod forum yet again.

Any chance we will ever have a separate private forum that you need 500 posts to post in or a 10 dollar a year fee just to keep some things private but still shared?

I see the flag option is back, but only for the first post of a thread? What if an offending post isn't the first post in a thread?

Plus I'm kinda bummed that my idea wasn't implemented:

The posts wouldn't have to be deleted -- that's the whole point. They remain in the mod-only forum as an archive. As long as they're off the public forum, for all intensive(?) purposes, it's "deleted". Plus, mod-only forums serve as a good/necessary way of communication among moderators. Every other forum I've been on / been an admin or mod on, has had such forums.

Maybe they could add a feature to automatically delete anything over 30 days old, that way they don't have to bother cleaning it out.

Since sometimes there's a discussion whether something was okay to post or not, I can see keeping a limited time archive of deleted posts.
There's no secret. Just know what you're talking about before you open your mouth.
