Quote: rxwineI'm wondering if not now, maybe later, the site can give us some custom options to change background /foreground colors from the default setting. And maybe some other possibilities in fonts, or sizing we can set on our own.
thats an excellent idea. Ive added it to our "to do list" . We will look into adding some "custom options" .
Looks great.
Obviously, there are differences between the laptop version and iPhone version. That's what "Mobile Friendly" is all about. But unlike so many other sites, the implementation here is damn good - save for the few bugs that need to be worked out.
Zuga, if people are asking for the same thing, it's probably because they didn't realize that it was already asked for. After all, people don't read (or don't remember) everything. It most certainly is NOT simply to bug you about it.
On a side note, I DID notice one more issue. On the formatting codes page (and presumably elsewhere), the bulleted and numbered list function doesn't work. Then again, neither does the bold, italic, strike thru OR underline! But I think some of that has already been reported...

That's somewhere in the original amendments, or it should have been ;-)

He is now the same color as regular members.
Uh oh
B9 back? lol
I'm sure has been.
Someone is going to have a field day with that.

Black silhouette was better I think, don't know what I'm looking at now.

I'm on my iPhone right now and I'm not seeing that information. I fear it's not there either on a regular computer?
F*** this, I'd rather shoot myself
Edit: was that temporary or what? The banner had colors and the wizard hat was in the center of the banner.
Better now

Post count, threads and member since does show on a regular computer. Not on my cell phone though.

It really wasn't funny enough to try a fourth time.
I surrender.
If you tell me there is no surrender here, I might track you down.
I might buy you a drink.
Sorry to say this and be so blunt but they don't care if YOU revisit. Unless YOU are clicking ads and depositing money you're dead weight on the odds site.Quote: Mikey75As much as I, and several others, wish it would the old site isn't coming back. It's like the woo site. Wizard stated after the launch that to much time and money was spent to revert it back. I don't know how traffic is there but I avoid it like a plague, unless I need something and I don't know anywhere else to get the info. I'll give it some time but I suspect my daily visits here are over.
Quote: AZDuffmanIf you will notice, it is a combo of a Rebel Flag and a "Don't Tread on Me" flag. Consider me a sympathizer of good, hardworking southerners who are looked down upon by the elite in this nation.
We have a muslim that kills soldiers and we are told "he is not all muslims." We have a guy kills people and has a rebel flag and all of the sudden, anything with the flag or CSA must be whitewashed from history.
That is my reasoning. Further discussion from anyone welcome via PM or at DT. All I will say at WoV.
I think you may have prompted me to discuss at DT. Later, gotta sign out soon for today.
I can't really pounce on anyone who would use the rebel battle flag since I have done so in my day; but now, I couldnt fail to understand why someone might object. But more at DT soon on that.

I know your right Axel. I'm sure the same thing is true here. If no ones depositing money no money is being made.
I guess I'm a stick in the mud but I really dislike change, just to be changing. If it's not broke don't fix it.
As a business model it probably was broken. They obviously know what's needed to make a successful affiliate site.Quote: Mikey75I know your right Axel. I'm sure the same thing is true here. If no ones depositing money no money is being made.

Wizard and is it Face knows a thing or two about websites.
Old site is far superior, still always wondered why Bob with 17,000+ posting should appear at the top of the page.
New logo appears to be home made. But there are too many other things to mention.
Problem is I don't know where is the information I am looking for now.

Font is awful (and that could be told with 3 minutes of UI testing). 'We'll change it later' is a terrible answer.
Haven't tried to screw with the icons, yet... not being paid to try and actively break it so won't bother to actively go through all the options and see what else is broken or can be broken.
Oh well, your site, your expenses.
I'll second all the comments about the text needing to be bolder or darker...
Just looked at it on my mobile too, and whilst it fits much better on the screen, one thing i cant do is 'pinch' the mobile screen to make it bigger. For example, when looking at this thread, the options were 'Pages 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9...Last Page' ... If I wanted to go to, say, page 6, i'd need really accurate fingers to do so. And i have skinny fingers.
And also, post count/threads started etc doesn't show up on mobile.
Quote: GWAEInstead of using html to do fonts and such I would like to see the post box have the options like word does, so if you want bold you just click bold and type. A lot of other forums have this function.
+1 to this.
I've also seen other forums with this, rather than having to use code to do it, surely not too hard to implement here.
Quote: PlayYourCardsRightI'd like to see the list of recent topics re-expanded to 10 ... that's the quickest way to see what's been updated, and a feature that I used frequently. I'm afraid I might miss out on more with that list at 5.
If you click on the words "Recent Threads" which is actually a link, it opens up a whole page of threads in order of 'recency'.
Least when I do it, that's what happens.
Quote: FacePreviously, going to a thread I have already read to view new posts took me to where I left off. Now it appears that clicking on a previously read thread always starts at the beginning.
Not sure if that was intentional or desired by others, but I prefer being taken to where I left off.

we r cracking down on other issues

That Recent Threads link is what I bookmarked and put in my nav bar on my laptop and iPhone. IE, that's my normal entry point. Has been for years, and still works great.
You probably made the change because Google announced a couple of months ago that it was giving preferential ranking in search requests to site's that were "mobile friendly." And with more web users using smart phones, you wanted to show up higher in search requests. But are you really competing for retail sales? And do you really need to show up higher in Google search results?
What you might have missed is that the "mobile friendly" format only helps you in search ranking for Google's mobile results and does not help for desktop searches. Question: what percentage of your users are using smart phones and what percentage are on tablets and desktop computers? My sites are still dominated by desktop users. Younger demographic sites must cater to smart phone users -- and I doubt the young demographic is what you are looking for because they don't have the money to gamble.
The negative about the mobile friendly design others have already noticed: too much white space, shorter listings in categories and the need for more page changes. That might help your page-view count but for the rest of us especially those of us using desktops, this becomes a burden and we are spending more time scrolling and clicking pages than reading, writing -- and viewing ads.
I wonder -- can you have TWO sites? One that is for mobile users and one for desktop users? Many big companies do indeed have two versions.
Your mobile version is good for mobile purposes, but it's going to hurt the desktop audience.
Best, Alan

I agree with Alan. I am using a desktop for the forum right now and is the first time since the change. The desktop just looks like a mobile version but larger. I do not like that all.

that is why we went down the responsive design route. Almost 50% of WoVs users are on mobile devices ( 40% cells and 10% tablets )

We were testing for bugs before the launch, but it is not possible to check for every single thing. Why we asked for the feedback and you guys been great in pointing them out so far.
A lot of minor bugs were already fixed, the rest will be fixed in the next couple of days.
cheers

+1 I can barely read this. Too bright.
But it was nice to log in today and go to the last post read in this thread! Thanks for fixing that!
Here's a bug if you haven't already seen it... Clicking on my username at the top right of the screen, i'd expect it to take me to my profile or something of the like, instead it takes me to https://wizardofvegas.com/join/
Home | My | Inbox
I think it should be:
Home | My Inbox
Currently, the "My" is linked to /my [not a page...404 error].
Also, there's a list of pages for PM's, it SHOULD read:
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |....
However, it reads:
1
2
3
4
...
Also: https://wizardofvegas.com/member/rs/threads/
Quote:THREADS STARTED BYRS
Should have a space between "BY" and "RS".
PS: I don't like the all-caps.
Also, at the top right of that page there's a link, "Rs". On other people's pages, too, it only capitalizes the first character of their username, but not any other capitalized letters.

Yeah, you can't expect it to be 100% right away. There are bugs, and lots of them, but they are all minor. Bottom line, it work well.
I applaud Zuga and his staff for the work done so far, as well as the relative speed in which the bugs are being squashed.
