"Casino magnate Steve Wynn gave new details about the $1.6 billion resort he is building in Las Vegas, including interactive rides and attractions designed to wow non-gamblers. Paradise Park, as the project is called....."

He has a great track record but I think it should be a focus on gambling not gamboling across lakes with ziplines and animatronic characters that chase your bumper car around. If Vegas emphasizez the non gaming aspects they are going to forget they are in a desert in the middle of nowhere and why should anyone trek there at all when there are amusement parks galore where they live.

I like that sniffing of bags in the baggage room, but wonder if gun oil sniffs any different than sunscreen oil or a zillion other products.

I like it. You can gamble anywhere these days. Thinking you can thrive by offering mediocre gambling and cheesy entertainment is so last year's model.

I visit about 3 times a year. I'd definitely put it on my list of places to check out in Vegas. Especially with reef dispensary being a brisk 10 minute walk from there.

I guess you can put me in the "don't get it" column.

If you can get Mediocre Gambling and Cheesy Entertainment in a thirty minute drive, will adding a trek to the airport, a long line through the TSO invasive search, several hours as a belted sardine really result in Visionary Entertainment?

My AP technique for that bet will be to sit on the shore with a Bellini and a Broad and watch the race.

I'm pretty sure we're still on for that.

I expected lots of storefronts along the boardwalk, ala A.C.

Why would someone want a bunch of empty or useless stores?

Ask Bellagio that. I've seen maybe 2 people total in those high end stores.

For those of you who evidently aren't familiar with Las Vegas, it gets HOT. Having long stretches of boardwalk with no place to step out of the sun isn't conducive to people walking it.
Besides, a boardwalk without cheap souvenir stands, food stands and fudge is just a bunch of boards on an old golf course.

I can easily see the final execution limiting the swimming area to a splash zone by the sand near the hotel. It would be unfortunate for a child to get run over by a parade "float".

GIven that Wynn was the pioneer of the gimmickry of the Strip including TI, Mirage, and the Fountains, I would never bet against him. The lake will be a marquee LV attraction, and guess what - to get to it you have to - you guessed it - walk through the casino, if you aren't already staying there. Looks like he is planning a third tower there as well.

He has to do something. With Resorts World building a doozy just north of them and the land across the street being ripe for development (was Alon) Wynn has to update.
