PA Sands which had the highest grossing table games in Pennsylvania in December is now soliciting construction bids. The rumor is that in addition to the hotel to be completed in May, they will finish the planned entertainment venue, and the high end shopping mall with new restaurants. These amenities were all part of the initial bid in 2006, but were cancelled when the economy went south.

In December Bethlehem edged out the Philadelphia casinos in table games for the first time. The casino is 13 miles from the New Jersey border.
SANDS BETHLEHEM $6,830,318
PARX $6,775,955
HARRAH'S CHESTER DOWNS $6,048,587
SUGARHOUSE $5,632,497
THE RIVERS $5,178,644
MOHEGAN SUN $3,235,939
THE MEADOWS $3,165,939
MOUNT AIRY $2,954,992
PENN NATIONAL $2,705,897
PRESQUE ISLE $1,551,579

That construction photo is a little misleading.

The steel skeleton on the right side makes the project look very promising. Unfortunately, that's the parking garage.

Here's a more current photo:

Note that currently, the casino is in the building between the garage and the road. It is unclear what the building is on the other side of the road. Clearly, it's part of the Sands property. I believe that's the Market food court. However, the property map makes that seem much smaller. Then again, the property map makes the garage look smaller too.

I invented a few casino games. Info: http://www.DaveMillerGaming.com/ ————————————————————————————————————— Superstitions are silly, childish, irrational rituals, born out of fear of the unknown. But how much does it cost to knock on wood? 😁

The games have been slow because the tables are so crowded.

The mall (front picture below) was 80% completed when work stopped in October 2008. It is the building on the other side of the road in DJ's overhead photo.
