Not me. I'll split.
BJ21 is an outstanding and historic site and forum for advantage play. It is now in very good hands with Josh, as is this site.
If this can be interpreted as Stanford riding off into the sunset, then I certainly wish him all the best. He has been an inspiration to me. Happy trails.
Hunterhill? Not exactly a name/handle I have paid that much attention to, not before now. ;-)Quote: WizardI've said this privately already, but I would like to publicly congratulate Josh on the purchase of BJ21.

Just saying.....

That's exactly what I was thinking.

A paid forum would be awesome, there will be less posts there but better content. Although I don't get enough betting systems, still looking for that one that will make me millions.

There is still a pretty good population of respected APs that hang out there. Not to mention HOFers/authors like Don Schlesinger.
There may be an exodus following the sale, but I wouldn't bet on it. Remains to be seen how the regulars over there will take it. Given the outrage from some APs when the Wiz sold this site, who knows. AxiomOfChoice left and remains gone. IBYA left and then came back. KJ said he considered bailing, stuck around, and is now embroiled in the current drama unrelated to the site owner. 1BB gone due to factors related to the sale, but may have happened anyway.
Quote: DMSCRJoshua Chan is a very interesting fellow indeed.
I have to google JC to find out more about the young guy. How have he done so well for a 30ish Chinese guy? What makes him smart?
Here are what I've found:
1). He's a superman in climbing role.
2) The owner of several dot-coms, i.e. Wizard's websites, Wong's websites, latestcasinobonuses, gamesandcasino, etc...
3) He looks like a movie star...

4) EEgaming did an interview on JC...

I'm still attempting to find his resume on LinkedIn.com...
Joshua looks like someone with great strategic acquisition ability.
Would be interesting to see what he is going to do and let this evolve.

My guess is he will modernize the software at bj21.com, while maintaining the existing board in archive, read-only form.
It's been discussed ad nauseam for probably more than a decade over there, but never implemented. My theory is Wong never pulled the trigger due to the entrenched members who didn't want it to change...since a bunch of them will probably bail anyway, maybe now is time to do it!
IMO just the archive of GC posts is worth a couple of years subscription to a new card counter.

Cool. I was never a member there and hardly visit that site. But from what I remember it is in an old hard to navigate format.

There are pros and cons. I actually used to really like that format. When you reply to a post, it's unambiguous to whom you are replying, since the discussions are "threaded" - each post is explicitly in response to another post. The first internet forum I ever participated on used it.
Part of me suspects that I only grew to dislike it due to the prevalence and take-over of this kind of forum, where every thread is just a big list of posts and you have to quote to indicate to whom you are replying. But who knows.

I like the style of bjtf and Alan's (now Todd's) forums.

Seems D.O.A., not nearly the activity going on as when Alan moderated it.

True. They're just much easier to navigate.

There's a difference between losing your membership because the new administrator was unaware of your comp --- and asking the new administrator and being refused.
As one who also gets comps on occasion because of my "stature" in the the field (albeit a different field than blackjack), my experience is that asking politely is often sufficient to get it done.

Michael, you could be a great addition to this site. I hope you decide to post more often.
