The first two names that popped into my head were "Bang Bang Dice" and "Slammer", both derived from the sound or action of the dice cups during play. But all I got were raised eyebrows from my initial screening team, and I have to admit that both of those potential names have somewhat inappropriate or negative connotations. I've come up with a few more ideas but nothing really made the lightbulb go on, so I decided to ask all of you:
If you were walking past a standard blackjack-sized table and saw a game where both the dealer and a player were slamming pai gow dice cups down on the table to determine the game results, what would you guess that would be called?

Quote: seviayOn a serious note, why not something as simple as Pai Gow Slam?
I second that suggestion. Why don't you put it up for a vote?
Therefore, I'd go with something simple like "Dice War".

Excellent suggestion. My vote would go with simply: Pow Pow. It sounds fun and indicates a duel between player and dealer in a non threatining comic book type of way.
Besides you add to the missguided notion that craps means dice :P
Or if you want something less showy, try to find a word for dice in another language that sounds appealing, then add the word "war," or "battle." For example, if you chose Spanish, it would be "Dados War" Just sayin'.
Of course if any of my suggestions are selected, and this game makes any money, I'd like a small piece of the action... say whatever total I throw with three dice times $100?

I think "V.S." or "VS" is a registreed trademark of Victoria's Secret. Bummer.

Yes, there is. YAHTZEE!
Pow Pow sounds kinda catchy to me.. Slam Dice might work too... good ideas here.

Quote: MathExtremistThanks for all the feedback. I'll have a rather novel announcement regarding this game shortly.
Rather novel ??? Does that rule out a casino trial or a demo of the game???
Keep in mind that the working name for my game is Cameltoe Poker.

I third this suggestion.Quote: pacomartinI second that suggestion. Why don't you put it up for a vote?

I was thinking more along the lines of:
1) I've called the game "Dice War", with an offer to change the name to whatever the casino operator wants -- except "Cameltoe Poker" because that's already taken by s2dbaker.
2) The rules are straightforward: whoever gets the higher total wins, a tie loses both wagers, any triple (in either hand) pays an even-money bonus, and triples in both hands pays a 10-to-1 bonus. One player shakes the dice and only relinquishes them after a tie with the dealer.
3) The game is 100% royalty-free. Seriously -- any casino can put it in without paying a cent in lease fees. That's the "rather novel" part.
I think it'd make a good party pit game or a compliment to Big 6 up at the front of the gaming floor.
Brilliant!! Though I couldn't play it because with my dice luck, I'd run out of money before I tie the dealer to give up the dice. How embarrassing would THAT be!Quote: MathExtremistI think it'd make a good party pit game or a compliment to Big 6 up at the front of the gaming floor.

If you can figure out how...

The average number of rolls before a tie is about 10.77, about 25% more rolls than the average craps hand. On the other hand, this game is so much faster than craps -- 240 rolls/hour or 15 seconds/roll seems very doable -- that the dice will move around the table at a faster clip than craps anyway. In other words, your bad luck will only last a few minutes. :)
Quote: MathExtremistI'm trying to come up with a name for a new carnival game I've got cooking. It's a simple proposition with the primary event being the violent slamming of two pai gow dice cups on a table to determine the results. The player gets to slam one of them while the dealer slams the other, and then the dice are revealed (6 dice total). One of my goals with this game is to make it the loudest table in the casino. :)

Hace you thought about this with 4 dice. I think it will flow better this way. Just a thought.

Have you thought about this with 4 dice total?.

This is similar to an event that sometimes happens in a game I play.
Quote: gameHey there Devil Slayer, care to wager in a game of luck? We each toss 3 dice and the one with highest sum wins. I win ties, but you win double if you roll 3 dice of same value.
Do you get the bonus even if you have the lower total? Player 111 vs dealer 213 would be a loss for the player, but still get his money back from the bonus? If so I get a house edge of 3.1121399176955 %.
