Is it that table games are easier to create or that slots are harder to get installs?

I notice lots of new table game inventors and almost no slot machine inventors on here

Or do slot distributors pretty much do their own r&d and not interested in hearing outside inventors

Just curious

I am not directly involved with slots, but I would assume the cost and expense of development (even if we are just talking patents, office actions etc...) is a massive hurdle to conquer alone. In the event you have a good enough game/concept, no person will realistically be able to front the cost of licensing, lab verification, hardware production etc...

That said, there are others on here with much deeper knowledge of that subject than I.

I would assume a lot of slot new slot concepts are just re-branded old Tech.

I do believe IGT and others still accept game idea submissions through their websites...

There are a few folks on here who develop and patent new concepts, but I have yet to see any converted into a physical functioning cabinet yet. Again, this is not direct my area.

How much of a slot machine's popularity is the machine itself, and how much is the theme? Taking any licensing fees into account, that could be part of the problem.

Really good question. I wouldn't say table games are necessarily easy to create, but it seems like more people get involved in making them as opposed to slot games. I think with slot games you have to find some new slot concept to build the slot around which is not easy to do. Once you get the concept down, then it just becomes a matter of developing a theme around it along with everything else that goes with it.....bonuses, math, graphics, sound, etc.

Another great observation. I personally started out in video poker and then moved into some slot games. For me video poker was much easier than table games and slots, but I was drawn to slots because you really have the freedom to go almost anywhere your mind takes you. I don't want to take over the post, but you can check out some of my slot concepts here: http://www.realizegamingllc.com/slot-game-concepts Use the side bar or top menu to navigate to each one.

Most slot companies are interested in listening to you, but in my experience it is very hard to get in front of them for whatever reason. Many of them have their own games they are working on, so most of their resources are tied up in that.

Thanks realizegaming

You may be one of the only slot developers on here so please contribute your experiences with slot distributors and getting placements etc. This is very interesting
