Bally will also debut Fortune Asia Poker, a version of Chinese Poker where players make three poker hands and compete against the dealer, and Match ‘em Hi Lo, where players try to guess whether their three-card hand will be lower or higher than the dealer’s hand.

Asia Poker was around for a while, and I believe was picked up by Roger & co. Match 'em Hi Lo I believe is new, and was created by Roger. Will track down the author of Asia Poker if possible.

Damn Miplet, I even commented on that thread too. They say when you get old, two things are sure to go.

If it is based on three card, a variant, with a Hi Low feature, I would have assumed it was in-house. He is prolific, and I was unaware of the game, even here. It was an assumption.

Just wanted to post before anyone thought you were wrong more than once a year. Now you have only 4 more months to go.

" He is prolific " Damn I thought he was Catholic. Will remove him from my Christmas card list. Add him to the Festivus list.

2 minute instructional video for the uninformed. I wonder, is Festivus celebrated in Yugoslavia ?

A FESTIVUS for the rest of US!

Match'Em Hi-Lo was invented by a member here, and has one placement in Missouri by the inventor. It was picked up by Bally for distribution a couple of months ago after Roger heard about it in play. Roger did not invent it, but I don't know whether he/Bally will make any adjustments prior to showing it at G2E. (you should come and take your bows, friend).

Asia Poker was invented over 10 years ago and is still in play various places, including Paris Las Vegas. It's a better game for the player than PGP, in a couple of the details, but extremely similar. It's also harder to set the hands correctly. Bally's distribution of it is relatively new, I'm told. Not sure who invented it. Not sure what, if anything, Bally will change about it.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I think the Fortune title implies a side bet application.

The Asia Poker sidebet as it's already played is a better bet than Fortune PGP. That's one of the better for the player things. I'm guessing the Fortune part is a marketing thing only, but they may well change the paytable, if not the sidebet altogether.

Is there a sidebet at Paris? I've played at Gold Coast and at Harrah's Philly, but neither of those shops has a sidebet on the game. How does the current sidebet work?

The sidebet is very similar to the Fortune bet. It has a couple extra pays, though; a special big pay on 8888+any other pair, for one. Can't remember the whole thing. The base pays are the same for 3OAK, flush, straight, FH; it's the upper bets that pay better. I'm thinking the Royal pays 100-1, and 5 aces pays better, I think. Could be wrong. They also pay Envy.

The basic game is, you get 7 cards (one deck, one bug joker). you set them 4-2-1. Within your hand, each has to be better than the smaller hand. There are no pushes; if dealer's hand is better in 2 or 3 hands you lose, if you're better in 2 or 3 hands you win. The strategy is a killer, and the house at Paris has only a few dealers who understand the house way well enough to deal it regularly. If you get one of the other dealers, the game drags terribly because they have a really hard time setting some hands.

A very strong hand can be a very weak hand, like a paigow; AH KQS 5432C is a bad paigow hand, but plays as a straight flush, AQ in the middle, K up top against the dealer. Any pair in the middle, with a junk flush or straight in the 4 card hand, and another high single card is a great hand. You have to evaluate your best 2 hands, a lot of times sacrificing a good-looking 3rd hand, just so you win 2. So you do anything you can legally to get an ace up top and a pair in the middle.
If the House lost every hand, they wouldn't deal the game.

I am one of the two co-creators/inventors of Match'em HI-LO.

Some of you may have seen the game at Ravings in 2012 and 2013.

The 2012 Ravings conference is where personnel from the Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo saw the game and presented it to their dealers who then reached out to us and that was our first placement. When G2E opens on September 30th, that will mark the one year anniversary of Match'em HI-LO on the Isle Casino Hotel Waterloo casino floor.

Since Day 1 on the casino floor, the game has performed exceptionally well and has an excellent following. I went to the casino the first weekend the game was on the floor. I was going to promote the game and explain the game to the new players. Needless to say, I was not needed, as the regulars would explain the game perfectly to the newbies. I cannot tell you how excited I was to just stand around and watch people play our game for real money and enjoy the entertainment value that was provided.

We are fortunate to be partnered with the management that operates that casino. They have been very open with us by providing valuable feedback that allowed us to get to the highest level in this business.

Bally personnel saw the popularity of the game and management at Waterloo provided our contact information. We were honored that Roger and staff thought very highly of our game and provided us the opportunity to enter into a distribution agreement. I cannot tell you how proud we are to be featured in the Bally booth and in their promotional G2E video.

As we all know, it takes a lot of time and effort to develop a game. Honestly, we started this game in January 2006. We had the pleasure to meet Stanley Ko and show him version 1, which Stanley told us to stop dealing before we even finished the hand. Version 8.2 is the game that finally meet the criteria of house advantage and hit rate.

If you are going to G2E, swing on by to check out the game, and if I am around, I will look forward to introducing myself.

I didn't check but I'm pretty sure the house edge is higher than paigow. So I think it's worse for the players.

I'm assuming you're referring back to Asia Poker. As Paris deals it, there is no commission on wins. House wins ties (same as PGP) so that's where their entire HE comes from, along with strategy errors. So I would say, with perfect strategy, it's a better game for the player (both base game and sidebet), but you have to be very skilled to play it correctly.

Taxman, excellent news on Match'em being at G2E & signed with Bally Tech! Distribution of a new concept premium game is extremely difficult for an indie both from a credibility & geographic perspective. The Bally Tech deal will get the game in front of a lot of properties you two wouldn't have been able to get to in a timely fashion.

The other good news with Match'em at Bally Tech is they don't have any other similar games in their portfolio that I can think of at the moment. This bodes well for the title not to get lost in their large library of games.

Persistence has paid off my friend! I will be excited to come by the Bally Tech booth to see you & your business partner. It will be a very exciting week for you two and you are going to get a great amount of feedback from the crowd that goes through that booth every year to see what is new. Well done and see you next week!

Oh that's interesting might be good to play for comps, if you're willing to learn strategy.

No player bank, at Paris anyway. The best dealers, BTW, are on the mid shift 10pm to 6am (more or less). Think it's because the Asian pit everywhere goes late, but also employee preference. They do seem to be dealing it 24/7, but you'll probably want to check ahead of time. They are very good about discussing your best sets and taking time with it.
