I'd appreciate it if anyone going also stops by the SHFL booth and plays One for the Money; it would be great to hear impressions and reactions, either here on a thread or via PM at your preference, to the live game. Thanks in advance!
Quote: beachbumbabsWoo Hoo!! Here we go, indeed. All fingers and toes crossed for Paradigm and Lucky; go, M21, go!

That's what I'm told, Dan, and thanks so much for the positive reaction to it happening that way. I can talk a little about it, so I want to say thank you publicly to you, Ken, and Kelly for everything you folks tried to do to help me along, including the Raving opportunity as an independent. Events eclipsed that decision, and I wasn't able to explain (I'm sure you understand better than most); I'm very sorry about not being able to answer when Galaxy tried to follow up on my withdrawing from the competition.
I hope you have a terrific show and lots of great games to sign! Vote for Paradigm and Lucky, please!

I think only Table game managers/designers vote. We might be able to, not being in the competition. No horses in race = no bias.
And no problem on signing with anyone else: you did what's best for you, you take the best offer and what was deemed best, totally understood.
Looks like wander in and play each game, then you can vote.

Right, Buzz; there are specific periods over 3 days when the competitor is required to staff the booth. There is about a 7 hour aggregate of time in blocks.
Judges carry a tally as well as a ballot. Competitors must indicate on each tally that the judge has visited the booth and played the game.
Once all booths have been visited at least once and the tally is full, the judge may vote for 3 places on their ballot, and submit both for counting.
Raving is estimating somewhere around 100-120 eligible to be judges, but my info is about 3 weeks old; that may have gone up appreciably.
Wednesday afternoon they will announce the winners.

For all the pomp, for all the circumstance, for all the bombast--especially the bombast--the content is what matters. Just by having your game at such a prestigious event, you are ahead of 99% of the dreamers and wannabees out there. And for that, you deserve respect and congratulations.
Don't forget to attend Switch's presentation on game design. No matter the endeavor, if you want to learn, learn from the best. He is well on his way to being one of the all-time greats in this little world of ours, and your prospects for success will improve appreciably by taking heed of his experiences and his advice.
The place was a buzz [no relation :-)] this AM with set up in anticipation for the Reception this evening. What is impressive is the size of the show growing from 21 games last year to 30 this year including the 6 from Galaxy/SHFL which are not in the competition.
I have some IP concerns for some of the entrants.....they appear to clearly infringe on known games & mechanisms....Pacman you should definitely stop by a few of the booths to introduce yourself :-)
There are some good games here and it will be interesting to see what resonates with the attendees....and gets the votes!
Good luck to all and as Pacman indicated, being part of the exhibit and getting this kind of feedback puts a game way ahead. Looking forward to a fun few days.
Quote: ParadigmI can confirm that OFTM is nicely situated next to Double Draw Poker in SHFL's booth.
http://inbetgaming.com/double_draw.html
DDP looks to be a pretty good game. You get a chance
to draw cards twice, and you're not playing against
the dealer, which is always a plus. Has good bonus
payouts. Plus it already has a lot of installs:
"SHFL entertainment a few weeks ago acquired Double Draw Poker. The game is available at casinos in Connecticut, Missouri, Delaware and Mississippi, and it is coming soon to New Jersey, Florida and Nevada. It will be one of our featured products next month at G2E in Las Vegas, and the inventor will be on hand to answer any questions."

Can't find a trademark filled on it now, rack card does not have tm anywhere, SHFL Entertainment site has a small sm after Draw.
What am I missing ?
Quote: BuzzardDon't want to open another can of worms But Double Draw poker was trademarks for slots in 2001 by Sigma Games and in 2005 by Bally. And in each case died a year later.

Not sure, but generic double-draw video poker is one of the largest problems in casino gaming math, compute-wise. The idea has been around for over a decade and is almost always discarded as unworkable. The strategy is just too big to comprehend.
Quote: Zcore132nd - Riverboat Roullette
Is this a joke? I hate this game, as I pointed out
multiple times in this thread: https://wizardofvegas.com/forum/gaming-business/game-inventors/11139-riverboat-roulette-roulette-with-place-bets-multiple-spin-wagers/
It will never catch on, it's too complicated and
roulette players don't like it when you mess with
their game. If this won 2nd place, something is
seriously wrong with the judging at Raving.
I did not vote, but to criticize the voters because you don't like something is wrong.

I was for Romney and was flayed on this site
when Obama won. People certainly praise
others for voting for their favorite, I can criticize
when they vote for a dog.
I could see 6 or 7 games that were likely contenders for the top 3 places.
Note that the 1st and 3rd spots were won by games that are very simple concepts - explained in less than 30 seconds.
I am really excited for Tim (TNT23), recall that he was pretty harshly criticized by the group when he introduced his 3-1 BJ concept. He should be commended for addressing the AP concerns that were raised (and they isn't an issue there per Charles' report). Very simple concept and you drop it right on an existing BJ table.
As Switch indicated, simple concepts seemed to be a good formula for getting votes as it worked for War BJ as well.
Riverboat Roulette was also given a rough ride here on the Forum. The Luck Bros. have two placements in the UK and some in Missouri as well as some serious sales inquiries from the Show. Congrats to them for sticking with it despite the many naysayers.
"Sticking with it" is the plan for Lucky & I, continue to sell Lucky Stiff side bet for for BJ and push for a first install of M21 in WA or Mississippi.....or Nevada if we get any call backs from properties that saw the M21 this week.
Paradigm, I enjoyed talking to you. The mind power and innovation in that room alone was phenomenal!
Good luck everyone.

I wasn't surprised this made the top 3. These guys made a very good, polished presentation. Both in explaining the rules of the game as well as making the case for the game (e.g., why should you put this in your casino?) It's an add-on the the standard roulette game which earns more than the standard roulette game (they have the numbers to prove it) which helps keep players from walking off. It doesn't "mess with" roulette as the players who don't like it simply won't play it. The layout and the name are good as well. Perhaps we will see more of this game soon.

Too bad nobody will play it. You'll see.

I don't believe anyone criticized you for voting for Romney. You were criticized for your full confidence predictions which ended up being impressively wrong.
Good times.

You must be joking! I have been told repeatedly
since the election that I need to APOLOGIZE to
the forum for supporting Romney! It's not enough
I was wrong, I have to be publicly sorry for
supporting the loser? Screw that.
And I believe my choice has been vindicated in the
last month, as recent polls show Obama would lose
if the election was today. Wait till next year when
the crap really hits the fan. You'll all be super happy
you voted for Obummer then. LOL

Sitting at McCarren airport waiting for my flight back to Texas and thinking about the show 'positives.' One was certainly meeting you and being your 'next door' neighbor, Tim. You and '3 to 1 BJ' are very deserving of the recognition as a top game at the show, and I wish you much success down the road.
