Caesars is the big loser. The biggest loser. Imagine the panic.
What will they do? Run videos of Celine and give the seats for free (which is exactly what they did when Celine called in sick)?
Will they call on Jay Leno to revive his show?
Maybe they'll do Shark Tank Live!
Those bells you hear are Caesars executives calling talent agents all over the country.
Is Colosseum Karaoke out of the question?
You want to debate postpone vs cancellation?
The six months of shows ain't happening. The announcement came literally as fans were in the air flying into Vegas.
Caesars has six months of an empty Colosseum on Friday and Saturday nights.
When you have a new date -- in my book -- that's a postponed show.
Joe Cocker put together the whole Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour in 36 hours and it's legendary.
Caesars most likely has an insurance policy that will make them whole, even if the place is dark.
Quote: mcallister3200I think she has enough fans to spare but given her nationality, and the length of the cancellation making the given reason suspicious, this has to leave a sour taste in the mouth of a lot of fans who spent money on international airfare and non refundable weekend hotel rooms. People who would do other things in Vegas but would not have made the trip and probably now won’t with the cancellation. That’s the story to me, not the effect on Caesars.

You're right. A lot of people got screwed including anyone for the first two shows.
For future shows they can avoid a financial hit.

To an extent. If they’ve already paid for the hotels, in most cases that will be gone. Airfare cancellation fees etc.

When I get the refund from Ticketmaster to my credit card for the two tickets I purchased, then I will agree it’s canceled.
As of now it’s postponed.

Sounds to me like the only reason they use the word ‘postponed’ is so that they don’t have to promptly refund your money. To me, if I buy a ticket for an event, and the event doesn’t happen on the date the event was scheduled for, then the event was canceled. I consider the event and date of event one thing.
Kind of exactly for the many reasons outlined in the preceding posts.
Quote: rsactuaryWhat about the people who paid $30k for tickets on the aftermarket? They've got to be pooping their pants right about now! It's exactly why I will never buy tickets on the aftermarket.

I sold my two tickets on StubHub for a nice profit. Whoever bought them is stuck with them UNLESS the event is actually canceled (not postponed).
If it does get canceled, TicketMaster refunds me what I paid and whoever bought them on StubHub can get a refund for what they paid.
If it does get rescheduled - no refund for whoever bought them on StubHub.

Damn. That means this could be dragged out for years.

It very well could! I know someone who just went to a Reba concert last weekend that was originally scheduled for two years ago!

My wife apparently still has tickets to Motley Crue/ Def Leppard from two years ago. Rescheduled for this coming August.
The cancellation/postponement was late, imo. Far too late.
Quote: TDVegasAdele appears to have some high maintenance issues. The stories out here for demands of better equipment, better video boards, better sound systems have been rampant.

I’m sure there is more to the story that we will learn later. Doing this two days before the show was supposed to start is fishy, to say the least.
I’m surprised she went with the outdated Caesars Colosseum to begin with. Park MGM or Resorts World have better theaters now.

I think the Colosseum is considered the more prestigious of those.

More grief for Adele.
I'm hearing that StubHub is not too quick with refunds and tries to push credits instead of actual cash refunds. I've never used StubHub so is this true?
Quote: billryanI read it on my chromebook. Lots of innuendos and they bring up that she canceled two shows years ago.

The two shows she canceled in London was the end of her previous tour when her voice gave out. They conveniently left that part out.

Quote: gordonm888Obviously, Caesar's is injured, but they are certainly saving the very large payments they would have been making to Adele. And they will eventually fill those venue time slots with other performance acts, albeit with lower gates. It's the customers who have already paid that I feel sorry for.

Caesars actually doesnt pay Adele. Adele keeps the ticket revenue. Caesars loses by not having 4200 people walk thru the casino into its Colosseum and whatever room revenue is lost.
It's like the movie theater business. Tickets are sold for $12 and that money goes to the film distributor and the movie theater makes its money selling popcorn.

Of course she's not.

Garth Brooks told Steve Wynn he needed a chair, his acoustic guitar and a microphone.
So…yes, disagree.
Melinda Newman of Variety praised the shows' simplicity, commenting, "Leave it to Garth Brooks to come to Las Vegas with a show that goes against everything Sin City represents: There are no big costume changes, dancing girls, elaborate sets or special effects: just a man and his guitar. And it's more than enough."Joe Brown of Las Vegas Weekly commented on the closeness of the shows, stating, "each concert of Brooks' five-year engagement has the potential to feel like a one-of-a-kind occurrence, which makes the audience feel special. Norm Clarke of the Las Vegas Review-Journal remarked, "Brooks was at his best on every level."
The ONLY thing he requested and received was jet travel from his home to Encore for the shows.
I stand by my comment. I’m sure there are others. I’ll also suggest there are some like Garth…who don’t take things to such an extreme that they do become primmadonnas and pains in the @sses.

Sounds like her insecurity is getting the best of her.
Good grief, she has a long-standing problem with anxiety and stage fright, yet she knowingly booked a gig at arguably the world's most visible venue.
Amazing.
From now on she can just stay home and serenade her house plants.
