While playing a Game King machine at the Montreal Casino I was dealt four to a royal. While reaching to press the first HOLD button at the left, the side of my hand touched the nearby BET button which exited me from the game to the main menu. I returned to the game and my cards was still there but it was GAME OVER !?!?

I realize it was my (easy to make) mistake to touch that button but the consequences seem way too severe. A potential thousand bucks is a lot to me.

Obviously, they don't want a player to modify the bet in the middle of a hand, but that could be handled by simply having the BET button inactive at that point just as the HOLD buttons are inactive between hands.

Has anyone else encoutered this ?

Regards to all.

Are you absolutely sure that it was 4 to a royal on the deal? The deal wasn't garbage with the draw giving the 4 to a royal? I've never seen it where the bet or menu buttons will function in the middle of a hand. If that is indeed the case, it's very troubling.

Yes, that's unfortunately the case. Later on, I tested it on a garbage deal. Rather than draw, I pushed BET and, sure enough, was sent to the menu and returned once again to my hand in GAME OVER status.

Even after that, I nearly did it again accidentally. I tend to play with my left hand resting on the left side of the console perilously close to the BET button. Needless to say, I'll be cutting that out.

Can the same machines function differently from venue to venue? I ask because there is no competition here in Montreal. The casino can do pretty much anything and still be packed most of the time.

I think this is normal for VP machines. If you accidentally do something to leave a hand between deal and draw, you can't get back to complete it. I know I have experienced the same behavior in Vegas casinos (never while holding 4 to a royal.)

I've also had this happen to me a number of times. You are in the middle of a hand and suddenly you are back on the main game selection menu before you play your draw. You go back to your game and your hand was basically forfeited. Always takes me a second to get myself oriented again when I accidentally cause that to happen but it ticks me off that its even possible.

I play heavily on game kings and I've NEVER had that happen...and believe me, I've pressed all kinds of buttons between deal and draw and its NEVER kicked me out of the game.

I play Game Kings and never was moved off my game. But then, Ive never hit the wrong button either. Im a relatively sloooow player and when I have an enticing hand I caaaareeefulllly press the buttons.

However, at Mandalay Bay about five or six years ago the machine did malfunction while playing a deuces wild bonus game. I was dealt quad 2s with a special kicker (dont remember) and the machine did not hold the kicker. I had witnesses on both sides of my seat.

I called a floor person, who phoned someone... a technician came, opened the machine, saw that I was dealt the magic hand and they paid me in full.

Lesson: whenever something goes wrong CALL someone.
