In Joker Wild, how many gaps would W34 be? On the low side if you drew A and 2, you'd need the joker to play the 5, so that's a gap. But other than that, it's open. So really this is like half a gap. The reason I ask is because it's not on the strategy I have (VPSM), which is as advanced as they come:

9.3351 3 STFL, Open, W45s to W9Ts
9.0293 3 STFL, 3 Gaps, 1 Hi Card
8.6436 3 STFL, 1 Gap, 6-Ten Hi, 0 Pen
8.4947 3 STFL, 1 Gap, 6-Ten Hi, 1 Pen
8.4043 3 STFL, 1 Gap, 4,5, or J Hi
7.7704 3 STFL, 2 Gaps 6-J Hi 0 St.Pen
7.6640 3 STFL, 2 Gaps 6-J Hi 1 St.Pen
7.6374 Joker + 23s,24s,25s,Q9s

I suppose since W24 is listed already (last hand), that the "1 gap, 4, 5, or J hi" is the only one it could be, since W34 is the only hand not on there where it's 1 gap with 4 as the high card. Interesting though, because W35 would be listed under that same hand, as well as W9J. Odd that they're considered the same.

As it turns out, W34 pays identical to W35 and W9J. This is because they all can only draw to 3 different straights.

W34 can draw to A2345, 23456 or 34567.
W35 can draw to A2345, 23456, or 34567.
WJ9 can draw to 789TJ, 89TJQ, or 9TJQK.

Now, let's consider W45: It can draw to A2345, 23456, 34567, or 45678. The difference is that you can draw to a straight with 5 high.

So, although there are no "gaps" in W34, you can still only draw to 3 straights instead of 4.
I heart Crystal Math.
