Don't Slam The Gurus

Looks like too many VP Junkies flagged my thread about the Variance Factor in Video Poker. My point was, as always, don't fall prey to the Advantage Player mindset, whereby new players might get the idea that no matter what, if you follow the teachings of the great VP Gods you can't lose.

A Royal Flush comes on Average once in 40,250 plays. At buck and a quarter per hand, that's over $50,000 coin in. Sure some of that will be re invested via the hands that you do win, but overall it just might lead you to ruin.

I'm an expert VP player, and an Advantage Player. I know where all the good promos and machines are, and I make very few mistakes.

So why then would the VP junkies flag my post off the board? Why would an alcoholic get pissed if you tell him he drinks too much?

There may still be a few players that actually make as much as minimum wage playing VP all day every day, but show me the profit and loss statement.

My message is simple. If you're new, and don't have the opportunity or massive bankroll it takes to survive the variance, then you shouldn't get sucked in to the belief that as long as you follow the teachings of the great messiahs of VP, you can't lose.

Many of them frequent this board, and what they don't want you to know can hurt you.

And so my post vanishes into thin air. If they could sue me they would, but I speak the truth, and the truth always prevails.

So play for fun, within your means. Play for entertainment and a few free cocktails. Set a loss limit and stick to it.. Don't think you'll win in the end, because those casinos have your number.

If you are one of those that just can't accept the fact that there are people out there that will take advantage of your naivety, think again.

If you don't believe me, just watch this thread disappear, like your savings, 401K, and the kids inheritance.

But, hang in there. Your lucks got to change, right?

Am I pissed, you bet.

So there's a bug in the program? More like a Fly in the ointment.

Your thread didn't disappear, it just got buried. There is a bug in the board programming.

What happens is that once you read a thread, it gets "moved" below all of the threads with new posts that you haven't yet read. To get back on track, go to the Recent Threads page and then click the "mark as read" button near the top of the page to mark everything in the forum as having been read by you.

Or go to the sub-forum you posted in and you can find it in there.
