Can I expect any differences in playing 2 line $2 JoB multistrike vs 4 line $1 multistrike? I would expect variance to be lower in 2 line vs 4 line. How is expected return going to be? Is the expected return the same in 2 line vs 4 line?

When regular multistrike goes bad the credits go down really fast. I'm looking to survive longer when things go bad and am curious if there is a difference in playing only 2 lines but at a higher denomination.

Isn’t the Royal underpaid if you bet anything less than 4-line? If so, then the expected return is surely lower…
Expectation is the root of all heartache.

Royal pays normal as long as you play 5 coins per line. You choose 1 to 4 lines and choose 1 to 5 coins per line.

Differences, if any, would be in variance and overall return.

I believe that ev(2,$2) = ev(4$1) and var(2,$2) > var(4,$1).

I agree. Covariance higher on 2 lines than 4. Covariance highest on one line (100%).
The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong; but that is the way to bet.

So that means 2 lines at $2 has a greater variance than 4 lines at $1 even though both would be $20 per play? I would have thought it would be less variance. Is it higher because I'm doubling the bet per line? And would the variance be less if I just did 2 lines at $1 for $10 a play?

Forgot to ask this.
Would I use the conventional 3rd line (4x) strategy on the 1x line while playing only 2 lines or do I just use the normal 1x line strategy?
I think I would use the 4x line strategy.

Generally I think about this in a session bankroll format. I'm new so I could be wrong. My understanding is same $/hand (overall, such as $100 single hand vs $1 hundred play) and lower denom for the base bet = lower overall (session/trip) bankroll requirement.
