So I guess there really is one for $5000. Uh, I guess.
I never tip the liquor store guy who sells me lottery scratchers, because he gets a cut from the lottery commission.
I'm not going that far out of my way to tip a few hundred bucks especially when no one did anything that special. I'll just tip when I get the money and tell them who to give it to. On something that rare I would probably do $200Quote: monet0412First off I wouldn't tip the slot people cash when they handed me the 5k. I would tell them I will be back later or come back on the next day with an envelope for those individuals. I would go buy a 99 cent thank you card and put either 50 or 100 dollar Walmart cards in them with the receipt in case of some sort of a problem. This promo, at the Main Street, is kinda unusual... so I wouldn't mind tipping a larger amount because you really have no chance to hit it. I do the Thank You Cards/Walmart Cards all the time because the people who pay me are the ones who I want to get the tip and I want them to get all of it. I do not want them to have to share with 20 other people and have the money go on a paycheck to get taxed. It is a little more effort but it is something I like to do. Now if I am at the Palms I never tip one dollar lol. I also have other places where I refuse to tip no matter how high my jackpot is.
On a recent promo where SOME of the employee's were very nice and helpful, the manager got very snotty with me and made big ordeal. He wanted to spite me, well he screwed everyone and gave me a legitimate reason not to tip.

PS he got snotty with me because he himself was breaking multiple rules that were affecting my EV. I had to speak up. Again a situation where casinos break their own rules.
But I like your ideas about the cards. Good idea. Good post.
1. Why does Monet not tip at the Palms?
2. What are some reasons he doesn't tip at other places?
3. For Axel, aren't you afraid that stiffing the snotty Floorman will cause more problems down the line?
Thanks, if these questions are too personal just tell me so. Thanks for your answers either way.
Very unlikely since there is a very very little chance ill be returning. If by chance that person get's a job at another casino AND I happen to run into him while on a play, I think even if I had tipped him he would still hold a grudge.Quote: bobbartopJust curious.

As far as the other employees who had nothing to do with his BS, they got tipped well along the way so I can sleep at night. If by some chance I do happen to see one of the nicer people I will take care of them.
As far as the $200 tip on the scratch off. I may give less, it would depend on different things. I dont have a set percentage amount. I certainly wouldn't give $200 on a 5k Royal in most cases. There are a few rare situations where I would give $200 on a 5k JP. It would have to be a small place, one I went to frequently and I liked the person. The play would have to be fairly good and something where the Jackpot was just gravy.

Tipping is not mandatory. I tip for many reasons. If I am on a really good play and I have to deal with the same people over and over, I want to take care of my fellow man/woman. For me it is like giving to the church or your local charity. I am giving to an individual to help them with day to day living. This is one of the reasons I like to tip Walmart Cards directly to the individual so they do not have to share or get taxed. If you do Pre Paid Visa Cards they will have to pay a vig for ever swipe. Walmart Cards charge no Vig. Usually better service gets better tips.
Some places have treated me poorly and therefore do not get any tip or very minimal if they get my action. With the Palms... a few years ago they cheated me out of 100 dollars and I told them if they did not compensate me in some sort of way that I would never tip another employee ever again. I told them I play here all the time hitting jackpots left and right always tipping something. I tip a usual 20% in all the restaurants and I gamble well over 1 mil coin in per year on all games including the pit, sports book, machines... etc. Anyways they could care less and told me to go ahead and stiff away so that is what I do. Actually after the new owners I hardly played there for two years but I still hold onto this petty grudge :)
Quote: monet0412I guess it would be golden if a person who gives Walmart Cards never thought of going and pre-buying them first. You think your playing with Kids?? You guys sound like the Class of 2000!
Somebody's been drinking ...

Perhaps you thought they were snide regarding their comments.
let me ask....
Monet, why don't you pre buy gift cards and keep them on you so you dont have to make a trip to a nasty W-M and return?

Don't be outing any AP strategies, you might sound contradictory ;-)Quote: AxelWolfProbably, let me look.
