In 9/6 VP, I would like to know, how much I lose in long term if I chose 3 to royal instead high pair.
As we all know high pair has higher return.
High pair (1.5365)
3 to a royal flush (1.2868) A

So If I have KKQJ2 with KsQsJs how much I lose if I hold 3 suited over holding KK.

PS. Is there any free program that can simulate this?

you seem to have provided the info yourself? difference of 0.2497? 24.97% of a unit in cost ?

you would be trading edge for variance ... might be worth it but personally I would hesitate at that cost

Just multiply that loss^ by the frequency of that hand(hogh pair and 3 to RF) for your total decrease in EV.

This is sort of what min cost royal (MCR) strategy is. There are other strategy changes, such as holding ATs instead of just the ace (of course AKo and such are still ahead of it), but one of the big ones is that you take 3 to a royal over any high pair with the exception of AXTs. The overall change in EV for MCR gives up about 0.03%, but you drop the royal cycle by 10%.

Frugal VP will let you do this sort of analysis, and if you want to just find the MCR strategy (in general for any game) you can set the return on the royal such that the game pays back 100%.
