Even in the gambling capital of the world it's hard to find a progressive video poker machine, because maybe of teams or falling out of popularity, but every now and then you find casinos that offer them, and they get very juicy(jennie). They are far and few in between, but anything from the 10 coin nickel progressives (usually 95-96% games) to the $100 progressive at MGM are there if you wanna take a shot (luckily it's 8/5 bonus if that helps lol).

Most locals casinos have some type of progressive with 8-12 machines, and they rarely go above taxables on quarters. The problem too is that the base game is a big loser and even at double royals the games still are horrible, breakeven at best. Most of them are 8/5 DDB or some crappy joker poker paytable.

With all that said, I still like to roam around and see progressive fever among people when the amount gets super high. Every chair in the bank is full, usually by ploppies or tourists since the math doesn't work out, but they are so determined to hit the royal flush since the number looks very high. I've only seen one progressive where pros were hammering it out but even then it wasn't a great play, but tons of value.

I might have been spoiled since my first progressive I've played and hit was a 9/6 JoB which also included 0.25% cashback at a casino in Oregon. I'm a net loser on the game since I've gone back and kept running coin-in, always at +EV situations so at the time I was pissed but now I understood the value. Funny story the last one I tried to attempt there I was on a 12 hour bender, then went to sleep, walked by and saw 1 old lady playing the machine and figured she wasn't going to hit it so I went to the buffet, and what do you know she hits it in the 20 minutes I was eating :(

Anyway my question is have you seen any "progressive mania" around your area? Lots of ploppies think the progressive is good, and they keep feeding $20s but come up short.

The only decent progressive I know of around here is the quarter 9/6 JoB at Firekeepers.

When do the seats fill up? $1200? $1500? It seems to me people will disregard the math and just arbitrarily come up with a number that seems "right" to them. Of course as the denoms move up less people crowd the machines. The nickels always get banged out seeing as it only requires 50c on a 10-coin, quarters usually get tourists most of the time, but when the progressive gets really good the pros start to swarm.

Dollars are where only established pros descend down, with the occasional quarter pro taking shots if they had a good session beforehand. Actually in all my time here I haven't seen too many $1 progs.

$2 and above is where I've never seen anyone touch the machines, because they usually get no play whatsoever.

Although the casinos still make money on these games, the portions the pros take are not gambled back in and the more progressives, the more pros they have.
From just my local perspective, it was almost all ridden of following the banking crisis. The casinos just consider them leaks they don't want. On video poker around here, there isn't anything better than 8/5 DDB so I play the quarter progressive when I want to play VP. It's not Vegas.
Anyways it used to be considered a selling point to be able to win if you wanted on some of the travel shows, etc., but not anymore. Entertainment now only, but everything old becomes fashionable again even in casinos. I also wonder about Vegas having local casinos negatively affecting the scene by segregation of good machines to play. Others will have to answer that one.

What the casino probably should do anyways with the progressives is just add more for the same bank and split them across the casino linked so more play and aren't dominated and monopolized.
I am a robot.

Dunno. I refuse to gamble there due to it being an Indian casino. I do stop in while passing through once in a while for a quick bite to eat though.

Bad experience? It is supposed to be class III obv.

As for the topic, I have run into better progressives in the last month than ever before. And to be honest, they were not being hit super hard by many. The bonus deuces progressive at Hollywood had 5/8 seats filled when it was 99.8% last month. Down in Tunica last time, the progressive was $2500 at one bar and it wasn't full of players on a weekend. Even the game that everyone plays (8/5 DDB) was positive. The guy next to me knew what he was doing though, playing the best option available quite quickly (15/10 double deuces, which was almost 102% at the time).
